“the real reason I’m here? I'm high"
“the real reason I’m here? I'm high"
I’d be delighted if Maguire went tomorrow, but also reckon that he’ll do ok under ETH. I think there’s a reasonable chance he will be capable of following instructions.I haven't had much time for most the season at the moment.
But I also know when you get a proper coach in who can coach players in his system, I hold out hope that some players we have wrote off can turn it around again under him. From the stories I've read about how he does training until they get it right, players won be able to hide and if they aren't up for it they will either be moved on or won't have a place in the team.
Maguire been totally shocking, I'm sort of hoping he could maybe try and make him a player again, but then again wouldn't care if he went tomorrow.
I think he will get a tune out of Rashford this season. I think he will enjoy playing under him. He broke into the team under van Gaal, who was tactics overload and coaching like Hag.
“Doing things in the market that other teams could only have nightmares about” I believe was the amended quoteReal reason I am here is ...I have been lied to by Glazers that we can do things in transfer market that others can only dream of!
Me everytime I log onto here & get into another argument“the real reason I’m here? I'm high"
How many times you reckon you've used the phrase Caf Einstein's to then turn out to be wrong? Search functions shows it's a lot. Don't curse us again please. Why does EtH feel there’s high potential here yet the majority of the Caf are spouting doom and gloom?
Could it be the Caf Einstein’s aren’t all that bright after all?
If was Mourinho that introduced the phrase and I find it perfect for some of our more dense postersHow many times you reckon you've used the phrase Caf Einstein's to then turn out to be wrong? Search functions shows it's a lot. Don't curse us again please.
Also you seem to be the only person using that phrase. Gift the man the tag he's after already mods
Of course these potential. It's been an absolute shitshow but they didn't all become bad players overnight. A good manager should be able to come in, galvanise the team, build back up the team spirit and get them all properly motivated to perform to the best of their ability. Why does EtH feel there’s high potential here yet the majority of the Caf are spouting doom and gloom?

There was a fair bit of kick-back, specifically to that comment, in the presser thread.Weird thread. It’s not as if he’s saying the squad is good to go. Reading into one comment far too much.
Referring to the second place finish season before last kind of stirred me up a bit but it is surely just man management from ETH knowing he won’t be able to turn the squad over immediately. There was a fair bit of kick-back, specifically to that comment, in the presser thread.
Imho, he will be the legend at this club. Just give him freedom, time and support and I’m sure he will bring trophies, great playing style and probably some kids from academy( he is famously known at this department).Of course there's high potential. Definition of a high risk, high reward job. If he can turn it around, he'll be a legend and will have a budget that most managers can dream of. The risk for him is that his success is in the hands of other people as much as it is in his hands and so far those other people have nothing but a history of incompetence.
However, there is some chance that Murtough has had the hand brake on under Woodward and that Arnold might finally be letting him clear house and build a decent front house team which supports the manager. However, there's also a chance that he's as useless as everybody else in that club right now and in that case ten Hag will suffer the same fate as every other manager.
Nothing is ever as bad it is seems. The morale was quite clearly on the floor for most of this season and for whatever reason Ralf wasn't able to do anything about it. A lot of the players who are staying will be able to do a job in EtH's system and don't need binning off immediately. We'll obviously need a fair few upgrades before we're challenging for titles, however.Referring to the second place finish season before last kind of stirred me up a bit but it is surely just man management from ETH knowing he won’t be able to turn the squad over immediately.
Exactly, this isn’t some deep insight that needs a lot of unpacking, it’s just a very polite way of saying that things can only get better, kinda funny to see how much people want to read into itThere's great potential because they've won feck all in the past 7 years. Picking something up at the bottom there's always room for improvement.
No it’s a state at the moment and he has it all to do. We will need upgrades just to make top four IMO.Nothing is ever as bad it is seems. They failed miserably at the first two aspect of ETHs system, under Rangnick. Pressing and keeping possession well. There's no way an intelligent manager like ETH watched that and didn't consider that everything might need to change, including the players, before he sees his football.Nothing is ever as bad it is seems. Exactly. Ten hag isn't an idiot. He seems like a profesor of the game. He can't come in saying everyone's shit and needs to be replaced. Look at Klopp - he had to work with Lovren et al at the beginning and he kept everyone onside (no pun intended), even though it was clear he would definitely replace many of them eventually. He will no doubt be clued in to how disgraceful these players have been this year and how they downed tools. It will be a process of a few transfer windows to tailor the squad to what he wants. I can't wait.Referring to the second place finish season before last kind of stirred me up a bit but it is surely just man management from ETH knowing he won’t be able to turn the squad over immediately.
Agreed but I was taking that as a given seeing as we've so many leaving. We'll have to get the recruitment right this window. No it’s a state at the moment and he has it all to do. We will need upgrades just to make top four IMO.
Did they fail because of Ralf's system or because of Ralf? We'll see, I suppose but I'd say Ralf had a fair bit to do with it.They failed miserably at the first two aspect of ETHs system, under Rangnick. Pressing and keeping possession well. Obviously he knows that doesn't happen in one window, hence comments like he made today.
And in response to the bolded part, this form extends at least 10 games into the end of last season. Everyone overplayed our second place finishes. 66 points was it, twice? We have been garbage for ages. Other clubs just got their act together and pushed us back to where we deserve to be.
They were failing before Ralf though and continued to do so. Look back at the results from the last 10 or so games from last season, leading to that EL Final embarrassment of a performance.Did they fail because of Ralf's system or because of Ralf? We'll see, I suppose but I'd say Ralf had a fair bit to do with it.
My take too, but can't be certain. If we see another coach go down the road if giving them all a chance and thinking the outcome will be different, then we're pretty much doomed. I just don't believe he can coach these players to play his style, which is reliant on fundamental skills that are lacking. You can't create a midfield dictator out of Fred and Mctominay, for example.Referring to the second place finish season before last kind of stirred me up a bit but it is surely just man management from ETH knowing he won’t be able to turn the squad over immediately.
Thats because we had second place wrapped up well before the end of the season? It was only 12 or so points behind City. You're being incredibly unfair here imo. They failed miserably at the first two aspect of ETHs system, under Rangnick. Pressing and keeping possession well. There's no way an intelligent manager like ETH watched that and didn't consider that everything might need to change, including the players, before he sees his football.

What he saidBig clubs are never truly that far away from getting it right is the morale of the story
Who cares though really. Just win baby.As much as we like to think it’s because he liked United as a boy, he’s hardly going to say it’s because of the salary and transfer kitty.
You guys finished 2nd with 74 points. Let’s not pretend it was a decent total because a lot of you claiming 2nd place trophy are likely the same that say we had a shite season finishing 3rd with.. 74 points..The potential is clear to see.
we've won stuff with past it managers.
we finished 2nd and got to a European final under a clueless manager.
a modern day manager at the peak of his career will be licking his lips.
Exactly. Win and he can do what he wants, we don't need all the media fawning that comes with new managers anymore, just knuckle down and take us back to the top and we'll have a massive bronze bust outside of OT of his shiny dome.Who cares though really. Just win baby.
Oh hi. are you here to tell us how well Arteta is doing again and how much better Arsenal are than United? Funny how that theory vanished quicker than their top 4 hopes..OP is a bit of a "CAF Einstein" himself if he takes everything at face value and doesn't understand that there are more obvious "high potential" aspects to the job than simply the potential of our players.
Most trusting copper ever "Honestly, I wasn't trying to break into this car, I was just polishing the windows" "Ok, be on your way".
