The constant leaks to the media

Alongside being absolutely rubbish for the last few years, the one other constant at the club has been the regular leaks to the media about everything. Why is it that United just can’t get rid of this ?

A simple example is this thing yesterday about ETH making them run a lot (exactly 13.8) in an extra session. I know that United are big news but surely there must be a way the club can stop this rubbish unless of course the people in charge are feeding this themselves

I wouldn't rule out that this one comes from the club itself. Sends a useful message, doesn't it.

You know the media leaks, dogshit performances and poor body language were all major problems in last season’s shit show.

Given we’ve decided to keep most of the players responsible for the dogshit performances, I’m not surprised the leaks are still a problem?

How do we know ETH isn't leaking this? It's positive PR for him more than anything.

If ever there was a time for a media blackout, this is it. The whole club from top to bottom (except the owners who need to understand that noone wants them) need to forget about public image and get their heads down.

Which other leaks has there been over the summer? We gotta be specific to figure out who the potential rat/leak is, as we just got rid of 3 big talkers - Henderson, Pogba and Lingard.

Last one who was suspected of leaking was Rashford (personally don't think he does this unless its something specific about him), but we gotta see constant leaks before we can say if it's a player or not. As a poster above mentioned, this could be from the club also.

This level of news is something all reporters who follow the team get a hold of across all premier league teams. Its not as egregious as leaking starting line ups an hour before they become official.

Erm, if it is a cancelled day off, it is possible that a family member affected by this (day out ruined) could easily have been told and leaked the news also. So not too surprising I guess.

If we start hearing stories about how the manager's training is "boring" or how the players "dont respect him", then they're leaks. If they make the manager look good, or players we don't want to keep look bad, then they're coming from the club itself.

This forum needs a sticky explaining the difference between a leak and a brief.

If it makes the hierarchy looks good, it’s normally a brief. If not, it’s typically a leak.

I only really care about ETH making them run the distance they didn't during the game?

Also need to be told that leaks and briefs are inevitable when the media is involved in anything be it sports, politics, business etc. There is no establishment that is leak proof so it makes me laugh when posters lose their shit about it as if its a United problem exclusively.

I don't mind hearing the manager laying down the law. Gives me hope and less face it, he doesn't deserve to get thrown under the bus.

Now when I hear shit about don't like training or some other crap and you know it's from the players - then I have a big problem. Hopefully if the players try that shit, we drag them. They have nothing to complain about with the disgraceful performances and attitude they have been showing.

Leaks will exist even without media. Anyone that is remotely close to a club in any sport will hear things that are often not even shared by media and a fair amount of those leaks are from third/fourth parties. As long as humans are involved you will have leaks.

But Pogba & Lingard we’re. . . nvm.
Leaks that make the players look good and the club look stupid probably come from the players.

Leaks that make the club looks like it gives a toss about what the fans think and make the players look a bunch of lazy cnuts probably come from the club.

For the avoidance of doubt, I always thought it was pretty unlikely that Pogba was the source of leaks that involved anything other than himself. I'd be surprised if he was that matey with anyone in the British press.

You missed the biggest one of its a load of shite that people want to read and just a figment of a journalists mind. Our fans just love scandal and gossip, even if it has no basis.

Agree with this. Never thought he was leaking shit. Seen his interviews after games and the way he avoided having to look at the interviewers made me think he hated their guts. Let's face it, the media used him as the face of everything wrong and some fans fell for it.

If anyone's leaking it's the core of our British players imho.

Exactly and football is notorious with leaks. I have a few mates that have played at different levels and have all told me nothing is a secret in football, they all gossip with friends etc which is why ITKs are so common. Some of it is shite of course but in a squad with so many first team players, youth players, coaches and staff, leaks will generally happen.

It only seems bad because we're terrible at the moment so there is more negative news to leak.

Funny that the players were out in force the last few months telling us how intense the training is and how fit they are...guessing it wasn't intense enough.

They should be made to run suicides for an hour before and after practice, every practice, injuries may rack up but we won't be losing much.

But loads of people said that it was Pogba, Lingard and Henderson leaking everything?

They couldn't be wrong, surely?

Can we separate the dressing room? Who wants to be disruptive and not be professional can stay together elsewhere.

It's not about leak, or who actually leaks it, could be wags, could be their butler or friends or the tea lady.

The only way to stop the leak is collective punishment, it doesn't matter who's the actual mole or who's mis-slip some info during their night outs. Anything deemed unwarranted, the whole team gets the punishment, either via extra session or any other collective means of punishment. Just like how they do it in the army.

The manager and the management might not know who exactly leaks the stuff, but the players circle knew and punishing all of them will send the message.

Aren't leaks pretty normal when clubs are in crisis

That's senseless because the "leak" could easily be someone else than players or coaching staff members. Surely people realize that there are other people around them?

Dunno who is worse, the sensationalist BS media or the utter scum who are leaking these stories to them.

They could still be for all we know, could be on whats app groups with their mates still playing for United.

It could be anyone though, from family members, agents - who knows?

Didn't take long for people on here to start denying leaks and defending the players again, only for more reports about unhappiness to come out. Expecting plenty more of this in the next few weeks, especially after we're undoubtedly hammered by Liverpool. Manager's training will be wrong and some on here will undoubtedly fall for it again.

On Sunday's 'leak' - the press send reporters down to the training pitch all the time. Hardly a leak.

On the dressing room argument - interesting. I'm surprised any of them cared enough to have an arugment.

Imagine what Varane is thinking these days...
