After quite enjoying a couple of tracks played in a bar on holiday in the States last year I’ve kinda been getting into some of this music.

A couple I’ve had in the rotation:

When I was in Mexico recently it was full of American people and they fecking love country music.

And they were all buzzing off it. Was it ironic or do they really like this shit?

Yeah. This one's tough. An absolute giant, and a really genuinely nice guy. He played a concert (Lord only knows how) literally two days before he passed away.

Went to Iraq more than 200 times just to play music for the troops to cheer them up. Big heart. Also, my dad and I got into him right around when I was living in Texas; then dad passed away from cancer; and now Toby. Feck.

It's really sad. Toby has this image as some kind of staunch conservative, but despite his support for the troops and the war, he was a lifelong registered Democrat. Colbert had a very nice heartfelt tribute to him on his show where he actually looked like he was tearing up at the end.
