Actual development. There's a morale effect, but it goes on top of the stats you see. The game is very volatile, so stats are going to go up and down. I am pretty sure they end up going more up than down when you're young, though, and you guys started very young. But someone is definitely going to just never become that good, or decline early and stay there. It's bound to happen.
Neat. I guess the volatility works well for something like this, unlike FM where development is usually pretty conservative and linear outside of massive injuries. Still slightly baffled as to how I managed double digit increases in most stats before even debuting, though.
Here's hoping my fame hungry alien thing isn't any happier in Cleveland than alto was come contract time anyway...
Yet again no Cafites among the Dunk Contest contestants. It seems like you're all long range shooters, or else just not shooters at all (FAO: altodevil). Anyway, here's what happened in your absence:
3-Point Contest
It's clear many of you have built your players with the future in mind (even though you might not make it to then before retiring), because there's an absolute glut of Cafites in the 3-Point Contest this year, including two rookies. Can we make it even more next season?
Solius goes through, while V.O., Samid and BenitoSTARR all have to participate in the tie-breaker, along with Damon Jones. One player must be eliminated.
Tie breaker
Samid has been eliminated after caving under the pressure of his first 3 Point Contest, while, V.O.and BenitoStarr are through to the 2nd round, where Solius awaits.
Round 2
Solius and BenitoSTARR remain consistent and will face off in the final round, while this time V.O. was the one who made mistakes. Damon Jones is also out, but who cares about that guy?
Final Round
BenitoSTARR is your 3-Point Contest winner, in his rookie season! Not bad at all. Solius did well to get to the final round, but unfortunately it was his turn to have a sub-par shooting performance. Still, that means a top two of Cafites. I'm proud of you!
All Star Game (the numbers in the line-ups are your regular season stats)
Western Conference line-up: @altodevil and @Solius are both in the starting 5.
Eastern Conference line-up: @oneniltothearsenal is the captain, which is quite an achivement. @BenitoSTARR will also make an appearance, in his rookie season no less, as will @V.O. for the second year running.
Result and stats
The West is victorious, after a great OT performance.
Honestly no idea. I don't know how the game picks all-stars, whether it's position based at all. If it is, you as the PG would have to contend with Michael Finley (GF), Solius (PG), Kobe (GF) and Steve Francis (G). I think you might have been the next in line.

First, let's remind ourselves of what the official NBA power rankings looked like at the start of the season. Judging by those, we could probably expect to see @Solius, @The Cat and @weetee in the playoffs for the first time in the playoffs with the Supersonics, as well as @BenitoSTARR with the Knicks and @hobbers with the Spurs, with @oneniltothearsenal's Heat and @Dr. Dwayne and @Stobzilla's Grizzlies as good shouts. @Samid's Lakers, @Salt Bailly's Nuggets and @altodevil's Kings would be possibles, while @sebsheep's Trailblazers would be less likely and @V.O., @Dan and @Skizzo with the Cavaliers and the 76ers almost certainly missing it.
How did it all pan out? Here are the conference standings at the end of the season, with the (conference) predicted power rankings in parentheses - bearing in mind that the top 8 in every conference make the playoffs.
That means that the initial playoff bracket looks like this:
I'll be back with the Playoffs tomorrow, so feel free to speculate amongst yourselves about who is going to win. I haven't simulated it yet, so at this point anything is possible. In the meantime I'll try to work on some top/bottom 5 stats, to let you guys truly gauge how you've been doing so far in your short careers. Keep in mind that some careers are much shorter than others, so it's not completely even. But don't let that get in the way of healthy trash talk.
@nimic your sim has gotten me interested in basketball again for the first time in over a decade! I actually watched a game last night (Lakers-Warriors). Now I'm getting started on my own season of basketball GM. I don't know if I should thank you or curse you!
Here's a silver lining for our chaps on the Cavs and the 76ers. Those records mean they will have really high draft picks in what is almost universally described as "the worst draft class in NBA history". Wait, is that what a silver lining is? I may not understand the phrase.

The only silver lining I need to see is that I'm not signing another contract in Cleveland and am a little more discerning than alto in where to take my services next year.

You have to suffer through one more season in Cleveland, unless you get traded before then. But in this case digital you definitely agrees with actual you.

PER (Player Efficiency Rating - basically a "how good were you" stat that might not actually be very useful in real life, but the game uses it to decide how well you've played.)
