And I'm all out of bubblegum.
2003 Playoffs 2nd Round and Conference Finals

After the 1st Round

2nd Round

No surprises so far.

All Cafite games are going more or less as expected (sorry @oneniltothearsenal), but surprisingly the Chicago behemoth that I've been building up just dropped a game to Toronto.

And Chicago dropped another! The three other games all look like they could well end in sweeps. oneniltothearsenal has actually been playing very well so far, it's just that starting places 3 to 5 are all in BenitoSTARR and New York's favour.

@altodevil and his Sacramento Kings have completed the 2nd Round sweep over the Phoenix Suns. The closest games was 97-84, which is also the one where Phoenix scored the most. BenitoSTARR and his Knicks also completed the sweep against Miami and oneniltothearsenal, but all of those games ended within a 5-point margin at most, so it was much closer than it looks. Chicago pulled it back to 2-2 (I told you they were going to be the end boss), while the Seattle boys let one slip against Minnesota.

Not quite a sweep, but that's @weetee, @Solius and @The Cat through to the predicted Conference Final, where they will face altodevil and his Sacramento Kings. That's actually all the Cafites settled for this round, but the remaining match will decide who the Knicks get to face in the Conference Finals, and very well might decide the West's opponent in the finals.

I'll be honest, this is not what I expected. What looked like a real challenge for BenitoSTARR in Chicago, actually turned out to be one he didn't have to face at all. That makes it all the more likely that we'll see a Cafite champion, as Toronto surely can't handle any of you... could they? They did just take down Chicago, so maybe they're the real final boss - the one you don't see coming.

Conference Finals

Okay - I swear I didn't know Toronto was actually going to win the first game when I wrote that last thing. I'm a strictly one-game-at-a-time guy. One game doesn't necessarily mean anything either... is definitely what altodevil is telling himself right now, as the trio of Solius, The Cat and weetee take the first game.

Sacramento even it up, but disaster for BenitoSTARR and the New York Knicks!

And that's Sacramento in the lead now! In the East, Toronto has taken a stunning 3-0 lead. BenitoSTARR is still playing, but he's clearly reduced.

That's an extremely surprising outcome. Are we really not going to end up with a Cafite NBA Champion even though there were 5 of you in the Conference Semis? I guess the winner between altodevil and The Boys will decide that - and they seem very well matched!

Sacramento take the lead again, is this the end of Solius, weetee and The Cat?

3-3, what a thriller! It all comes down to game 7. Anyone could win this! Well, except BenitoSTARR.

It's Ninja Sacramento! I was just about to call this an upset, before I realized altodevil's team was the 1-seed with a very good regular season record. The Cat, Solius and weetee will be disappointed, but they got to the Conference Finals where they took a very good side to game 7. Not a championship, but not bad at all. That means altodevil will face Toronto in the NBA Finals. A Toronto side that has just taken out the 4th, 1st and 2nd seeds in the East.

I just realised the Knicks are spending the most on scouting, coaching, and training facilities. Benito should be walking this league every year with that setup.

Meanwhile Sacramento is among the worst in the league for everything. And yet I rise from the ashes.

Appropriate gif, considering LeBron is coming this draft.

I have set a standard. My advice to you before was just be better. I’m glad I’ve been able to coach you and you’ve learnt so much from me in this short time. I am also a young hammer. I have room to grow more.

There’s just a weird sexual chemistry now.

@nimic what happened with SanAntonio? Hobbers won‘t tell.

Also what a run if Toronto makes us all happy and win it? Beating Bulls, WeeBenito and Shaq(+Tony Parker).

San Antonio got taken out by the Seattle Boys, after hobbers was injured for half the season and the Spurs dropped to 7th seed because of it (actually even lower, but hobbers came back and dragged them back up). Unfortunately being the best player in the world isn't enough, you need other players. For reference, when hobbers was injured I am pretty sure the Spurs were among the worst teams in the league, full stop.

But Hobs was playing all games agains us in the playoffs or wasn‘t he fully fit? Just curious because 0-4 is hefty for an all-star player of his calibre.

He was fit. He was averaging 22 points, while the rest of the starters averaged 35, combined. He had a GameScore of over 20 in three out of the four games, while the rest got over 10 twice. Combined.

Also in one game Solius had a GameScore of 39.2, so that's something.

2003 NBA Finals

The Final is going to be between the Sacramento Kings (feat. @altodevil) and the Toronto Raptors

104-76

And we're off! Sacramento take the lead. altodevil leads the way with 25 rebounds and a GameScore of 25.4.

98-80

2-0! Where's the Toronto that tore up the East? altodevil is eating them alive right now. He had 30 rebounds, 10 steals and 8 blocks, for a GmSc of 30.4.

102-95

Don't tell me that after all that, all the hyping I did for Chicago that then turned into hyping Toronto, we're just going to get a sweep in the finals? Only a "good" game by altodevil this time; 16 rebounds, 7 steals and 9 blocks (24.4 GmSc). Is this it?

104-111

No, Toronto strikes back! Is this the start of a comeback? altod with his worst game in the finals yet, 24 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 blocks, 20.7 GameScore.

89-86

And we have a new Cafite NBA Champion! altodevil had a worse game than in the actual loss, but the rest of his team stepped up. I guess that's what happens when you have Tony Parker and Shaq on your team! 21 rebounds, only 3 steals and 3 blocks for our man, a GameScore of 13.9 (for context, that's still higher than any of hobbers' teammates had in their 1st Round match-up against Seattle).

Carried by his team there. Couldn’t even beat a Cafite in the final.

Hmm, Benito averaged six blocks a game in the playoffs. That's pretty good.

Most double doubles by over 100, most triple doubles with twice as many as second best, highest game score, second most 5x5, top 3 in steals and blocks, top 5 in points. It's clear who the best all around player here is.

Although I'm on track to be best player to never win a trophy. Can you get me a Caf partner to win?

More and more of you are making it on the Teams! BenitoSTARR, Solius, V.O., oneniltothearsenal, altodevil, hobbers and Dr. Dwayne all made the All-League Teams, while 4 familiar faces also made the All-Defensive Teams again. We also had P-Nut on the All-Rookie Team.

altodevil was both Semifinals MVP and Finals MVP. We didn't get the actual MVP (damn you, Vince Carter), but as always we did have altodevil as the Defensive Player of the Year, this time joined by P-Nut as the Rookie of the Year and reelworld as the Most Improves Player.
