Gundogan apparently going to Barca
Alves now staying at Barca
Pogba apparently a target for Barca and Real
Nothing new on Otemendi
Nothing new on Schneiderlin
De Gea uncertainty still ongoing/won't be long till all viable replacements are signed up by others

At least we've signed Depay I guess

(Note this post isn't 100% serious, just 70 or 80%)

It's June 9th ffs. If you're 70 per cent serious don't make the thread.

I read on twitter somewhere today it's about 37 or 38 days until we go on tour. If we've not got the players in by then I'll be disappointed, but too early to worry now.

I'd guess the idea is for most deals to be tied up by the first week in July.

For that to happen we'd have to really be in negotiations now, which may well be the case. Certainly Schneiderlin and Otamendi are very achievable deals. Right back and striker is more up in the air though.

In signing Memphis and releasing Falcao from his loan we've already done better business than any of our rivals, so yeah, it's far too early to be getting worried.

Nothing new on De Gea either.

Why when it's our players is no news bad news but when it's about a player the papers are saying we are after is no news also bad news?

I remember being a bit worried last year when we only had herrera and shaw signed up. then all of a sudden BANG Rojo, BANG Di Maria, BANG Blind, BANG Falcao. Was great. As LVG says, it only takes a day to sign a player.

It's too early but still a couple of deals would be great in June. Do remember that our goal is to finish most business by the time we go on tour so if we don't, I think van Gaal will be really annoyed to say the least. He made it clear multiple times that he doesn't want a repeat of last summer's business.

If we have any chance to compete in the league I think we need this. Even if we sign the right players, if it's done too late like last summer transfer window we will still struggle in the first few games because the players would have a very limited amount of training sessions together.

Underwhelming reading that now.

Remember most of our recent signings have pretty much come out of nowhere all of a sudden. Like the Memphis deal was wrapped up without any smoke in the preceding days. So I trust that we are negotiating with our targets and getting things done. Speculation in the papers or lack of it doesn't really change that.

Tell me about any big transfers that aren't Bosmans that have happened so far...

The session finished on Saturday for heaven's sake.

I no, most of those signings didnt exactly set the world alight but at the time it was brilliant. And also illustrates the point that even if we had only 2 weeks of the window left, nobody should worry. Not until LVG comes out with Fergies favorite line ''Im happy with the squad i have''

every season.
it was so much better before the internet! checking teletext once a day max, and then getting on with your life.

roll on the fixtures next Wednesday though! that's always worth waiting for.
for 2hours.
then it's as you were

It should be about 0% serious given since most of what you posted is pure conjecture, as well as the fact the window hasn't yet opened.

It's likely most of the groundwork was done before the season ended, and we're now in negotiations for several of our targets. The window doesn't open for another 3 weeks, just be patient.

As for what i think you were really getting at with the OP, am i concerned that most of the so called 'top' level targets seem to be non-starters? Not really, although we may splash big on the odd player, i think the majority of our business with be done on the lesser known players, and i hope this is the case. Players who LvG has identified as fitting his style of play, and who want to wear the shirt rather than just being a name. More Rojo and Blind type signings hopefully, probably the best two signings we made last year.

Rojo and Blind were more long-term signings and Di Maria can still come good.
I agree. It was more a response to the enthusiasm I felt after we signed these players last summer. When reading it now I wasn't really feeling it.

No news is a good sign under Woody and if we would be willing to let DDG go easily he would be a Real player by now so that's good too. Also i'm sure we will find some other RB instead of Alves.

I'm expecting almost all our business done before we head on tour.....

round about 13/14th July I imagine

if we have nothing sorted by then I'd be concerned with the lack of progress given Van Gaal's openness about players who are leaving and ones that are coming in

I believe there's lots going on behind the scenes and when one goes you will see one come in etc...

Not at all, LVG has already said that targets have been identified and it's over to the business men to seal the deals. I expect heightened activity when players return from international duty.

Try to give one or two more weeks to the players so they can come back from vacation. It's the only time where they're free from enduring this whole media circus directly.

Play it like De Gea, cool and simple... and enjoy the summer.

You know why that was though, the Glazers stupid timing of their latest share float, and the fact Di Maria/Madrid ran out of patience with PSG and settled for us instead, and Falcao hanging on to the bitter end to see if Madrid would take him, all imho of course.

If we end up with similar players for those reasons as late as that this year then we're fecked.

Did it feck .

Apart from Falcao I'd sign them all again given the chance. It was a very good window. Another one like that and I'd be delighted.
When you spend 150 million and get two starting players, I'd say that's borderline terrible.

Aye that's about right three more weeks and we should see some movement, whether we'll get them in all before the tour though is a different matter, just can't see it myself.

For gods sake the transfer window hasn't even opened yet and people are panicking? We've already signed a player for the new season which is more than what we done this time last year.

I don't understand why anyone would sell a player this early. Why did they sell Depay?

Well actually I can understand it sometimes. If you have a £20m player and someone comes in with 30m to tie the deal up early then sure, sell early. Or ifa player has a buy out clause then if that gets triggered who could go early.

But in general, I don't really get it.
