Television Top 10 sitcoms of all time?

Father Ted
Community
Red Dwarf
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Scrubs
Garth Marenghis Dark Place
Cheers
Futurama
Spaced
The Office UK

Not as good as the Thick if It, from which it sprang.
It looks like many US shows are copied or inspired from British shows. I'm definitely interested in watching the UK Office after I saw Afterlife. Ricky Gervais is brilliant. Shameless is another show that I have just seen the US version but absolutely loved it.

No order

Frasier (1-8)
Arrested development (1-3)
Archer (1-4)
The thick of it
The office
Curb
30 Rock
Fawlty towers
Seinfeld
Futurama

The last 3 could also be Veep or Yes Minister, no special love for them (anymore, in the case of Seinfeld and Futurama).

Peep show and sunny are a little too awkward for me. I uhhh haven't seen the Simpsons.

Never got the appeal of Seinfeld or It's Always Sunny (especially the latter).

I haven't seen many of the old classics (especially British ones) though. It's a bit hard to — Blackadder was at the same time brilliant but incredibly difficult to watch, I can't even pinpoint what exactly was "wrong" with it from my perception. So many changed in TV over the years.

And some honourable mentions that didn't make the cut for some reason (too short/too inconsistent/too shallow/just not mindblowingly great) :
Louie
Bojack Horseman
Bored to death
Freaks & geeks
Baskets
Futurama
Veep
Silicon valley
Family guy
South park
Rick & Morty
Parks & rec
Detectorists

Edit: This thread inspired me to try and watch some of the old classics. Started with Frasier and turned it off after 3 minutes, that audience laughter is unbearable. Again, speaking of perception — at some point I've watched 10 season of Friends and enjoyed it and now I'll probably turn it off after a few minutes because that laughter is so annoying and outdated.

Definitely an all-time great, but is it a sitcom? It's a sketch show, isn't it?

Yeah, but once people started blurring the lines with Simpsons and South Park I thought what the hell.

If I were a total maniac with utter disregard for everything I would have jammed Brass Eye in there as well.

Can’t believe you’re the only one who listed King of Queens. Definitely in my top 10.

Curb your enthusiasm
Inbetweeners (made me laugh out loud more than anything else on the telly)
Father Ted
30Rock
The thick of it
Frasier (so much better than Cheers)
The Simpsons
Peep Show
Parks and recreation
Malcolm in the Middle

But ten is not enough I can't leave out - Fawlty Towers, Absolutely Fabulous, Modern Family, The IT crowd

In order:
The Thick of It
Father Ted
Peep Show
Porridge
Blackadder
Curb Your Enthusiasm
I'm Alan Partridge

Bottom

My top ten:

Dads Army.
Father Ted.
The I.T crowd.
Brooklyn 99.
I’m Alan Partridge.
The Office (UK)
Parks and Rec.
Red Dwarf.
Family Guy.
The Thick of it.

I like most sit coms/comedy shows, but these are ones that i have gone out of my way to watch/buy the dvds etc.

Red Dwarf when it first aired was an absolute must watch, nothing got in my way of seeing that.

Based on what has been named in this thread being acceptable as a sitcom.

The Simpsons
Futurama
Always Sunny
I’m Alan Partridge
Office (UK)
Peep Show
The Thick of It
Arrested Development
Community

They are my favourite nine by far. I can’t think of a tenth up to the quality of those shows.

Seeing people list Two and a Half Men and Family Guy in this list makes it much easier to understand the football forum being in the state it is in.

Not sure I have watched 10, even when including Simpsons, Futurama, South Park (which I normally wouldn't, because they hit different spots for me than other stuff more commonly classed as sitcom).
Stuff I liked in no ranking order:
Arrested Development (until season 3)
The IT Crowd
New Girl
Modern Family
Life in Pieces
Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (starts kind of lame, but became better for me after several episodes. Might be on the decline again already, but we haven't finished watching)

German ones:
Stromberg (The Office, german edition)
Pastewka
