Television Top 10 sitcoms of all time?

Are we allowed to mention Rising Damp in this day and age?

Don't see why not, Rigsby is regularly routed for the bigot he undoubtedly is. One of the few of that era that has stood up well I think.

I thought it was hilarious but I actually thought Philip played by Don Warrington was funnier than Rigsby.

Yeah, Philip constantly shows Rigsby up for what he is, time after time. The thing is for really good comedies or in this case sitcoms I find they have to be tinged by tragedy, Rising Damp is full of pathos also Steptoe and Son (which I can barely watch it is so depressing sometimes) and I guess the common thread extends through into the UK and US Office. David Brent just wanted a friend, likewise Michael Scott. etc

Only Fools
Friends
Blackadder
IT Crowd
Fawlty Towers
Frasier
Silicon Valley
Office (UK and US)
Seinfeld
Mind Your Language. Mindlessly racist. :)

Came close: Big Bang Theory, Third Rock From the Sun, Cheers, Roseanne, that Bucket lady and Last of the Summer Wine.
Last of the Summer Wine was a comedy?

Yeah, Harold carried the show.

Rossiter was astonishingly good as Rigsby.

Rossiter's timing and delivery were incredible.

"Desmond?...bloooody Desmond?"

Gets me everytime.

I did! We had a channel that would show it over here after it ended in the US I think - I enjoyed it but I didn't love it, then again I was like 8/9 so I probably didn't get a lot of the jokes
Moesha is another good shout I forgot actually, so many good shows at that time

My sisters liked Moesha. It was a good show. True colors was another good one.

Holly Robinson :D

I had a huge crush on her

No The Young Ones?

Sweet to see another mention for the KoQ! Germany loves Doug, right? :D

I ended up only watching KoQ for Arthur. And Spence, I guess.

Yeah, i don't know how it is in the UK or in the US but in Germany KoQ was really popular for a long time. Well most german people will instantly know that i am from Germany, when they see my list. Most of them were really huge here.

And Carrie was hooot.

 (Still is btw, check out Kevin can Wait)

As far as I know Germany is the only country, outside of the US, where they have released the show on Blu Ray! Actually, I’m not even sure the BRs were released in the US at all.

Yeah, a bit weird to me, as i think it was a really good sitcom. And many over here really enjoyed it. I read that Scrubs for example was not so popular in the US too, which is weird to me too. It was massive over here.

But i guess german humour is a bit different.

And i am also wondering how HIMYM and BBT can make only so few lists over here. I thought they are among the obvious GOATs.
