Club only and domestic competition only for the looks of it. I wonder how Luis Suarez would cope in a list including international games at club level.

As others have suggested, the value of comparing per minute stats for players over multiple leagues and multiple seasons will always be limited.

That's without even touching on the potentially very problematic "assist" stat in football.

Henry and David Villa were all used on the left wing for multiple seasons at Barcelona. Iirc Suarez at Barcelona played mostly as a striker but occasionally off the wing? That was the case with Eto'o as well. Although when he went to Inter he played from the wing.

Could someone do Totti? He was similar to Rooney in that he didn't play that many seasons as an out and out striker but always scored a decent amount and I'm sure assisted a fair few too

If you are going by mins per G+A, then there will be other players who will have better ones. It's hard to check, if you are going by numbers (which is what that poster meant) then there are few who had more goal contributions.

No, maybe I wasn’t clear. I meant G+A per minutes. It has been researched. I have read it somewhere else, he had the most efficient season ever in the premier league. I will post it if i can find it, but here are the numbers compared to the others.

Suarez 31G (0 pens)+ 12A - min: 2965
68,95 p/m

Henry 24G (3 pens) + 20A - min: 3301
75,02 p/m

Shearer 34G (10 pens) + 13A - min: 3772
80,26 p/m

Cole 34G (0 pens) + 13A - min 3597
76,53 p/m

Suarez was an animal in his prime, no pun on his biting intended, just had everything. There's that generation of absolutely worldie Rioplatense attackers that all dominated in Europe (Higuain 33, Suarez 34, Cavani 34, Aguero 32, Messi 33, Di Maria 33) and must have played in youth tournaments together/against each other.

Aguero 23 goals + assists in 1539 mins in 2013-14. That's around 66 mins per G+A.
