Of course I can understand it. As you'd expect, I don't necessarily agree with it :-)
You'll have to understand that when I started supporting City we had won 1 European trophy, 2 leagues, 4 FA Cups and 1 League Cup. At the time this was an honours list that wasn't exactly a million miles away from the 'top' clubs in England at the time.
Then a period of Liverpool domination teally started thanks in no small part to money from Littlewoods.
City then entered a period of time where the club was run in an absolutely shocking manner for years, eventually leading to our slide down to the old 3rd Division.
At the same time as this, the PL came into being and our nearest & dearest neighbours (well, sort of!) were being run incredibly effectively and benefitted massively from the income the PL generated and started to dominate the domestic football scene.
So, money has always been a huge factor in the success of football clubs. Yes, our wealth has come about differently to most other clubs (although it might be worth reading about James W Gibson and Utd) but if we are now 'cheating' our way to success then that accusation should also be levelled (at least to some degree) to the other clubs who have periods of dominance in the English game should it not?
By the way, the old 3rd Division times were a great laugh in many ways but of course I wouldn't swap them for what we have now
