It's effectively dead.

A new system is needed, how can illegal spending be curbed?

Fines are useless as they are just costs to wealthy clubs rather than punishments

I dont know if its dead, they just have to be more stringent.
City ripped the piss out of UEFA on this one. It might harden their approach

It's time to scrap it. The system FFP is to protect Bayern Barcelona and Madrid, FFP needs to go .

What's the point? They can't enforce it.

The system is broken. A kick into the stones for all the morally-centred clubs throughout the game. They have no incentive to abide by the rules anymore. Why should they?

A farce.

Honestly, who cares? I've never really liked FFP. It just seemed to be a tool to undermine competition at the top end of football, rather than stop smaller clubs going bust.

The clubs are more powerful than the governing bodies, I'm sure that will lead to good things for football

You can’t do anything about it, money talks. The rules don’t apply to the wealthy, be it a football club or an individual. This will not change. So you either just suck it up and accept the game is corrupt, or stop watching football and do something less stressful with your time.

I think the idea that the general people have for FFP is worth working on. Protect the clubs from owners who leave them in a ditch, but allow for owners to put money into the club.

If club owners want to spend money on their club, then putting their money in through sponsorships is fair in my opinion as it protects the clubs from being bankrupt if the owner loses interest.

FFP as it is now is non-existent. It's unenforceable and needs to be redone.

FFP is totally dead now. Not sure anything else could come in it’s place either to try to regulate spending as billionaire clubs will always always find a way out of it- so it’s just pointless really

It’s absolutely worthless. Today’s final verdict just shows that a club can bend the rules and as long as they conceal their rule braking for long enough, they’ll get away with it.

The creation of a European Super League just got a lot more likely.

Just remove it, what's the point. It's only becoming unfair on smaller clubs how don't have access to billionaires, atleast it will be a level playing field where everyone can get a rich owner who can spend their way to the top.

The biggest loser is not necessarily the other big clubs but UEFA's bank account. I do think a super league will be formed now that will essentially destroy the Champions League. They will probably institute rules that prevent state owned clubs from participating.

UEFA come out of this looking like an organisation with no power anymore too.

It’s kind of funny that a competition that City as a fan base and a club don’t seem to like that much (attendances etc) is one they’ve fought to still be in, & will be kinda awkward playing in a competition that the organisers didn’t want you in ha

After reading a bit of the decision. THe only conclusion is that it is unenforceable. CAS is essentially saying unless you catch the crime in real-time. you can't punish the club. Financial crimes are notorious for being tough to detect. Fiddling your sponsorship is essentially, a free hit for any oil club.

How is it unfair on them? Have PSG and City really been prevented from aquiring top talent through mind boggling transfer spending?

Before today there was a glimmer of hope of it finally doing its job but now it's clear it should just be removed completely as it only damages the clubs that don't have resources to bribe the judges.

It's dead. Just get rid of it. Football is a playground for the oil rich, no point trying to deny that now.

It's not dead. UEFA now know they have to chase breaches before they are time barred. A lot of this would have been avoided if they had gotten off their asses earlier. There's also the deterrent value because City now know they can't afford to be caught a second time. You don't run out of a court to commit murder after being acquitted

I doubt there would be a super league without Man City and PSG etc — that’s just happy talk. They’ve got too much standing in world football now — rightly or wrongly — it would be next to impossible to leave them out of the super league.

PSG bought Neymar and Mbappe for ridiculous amounts. None of us, Madrid or Barca would be able to spend like that. FFP was over long ago.

I mean unfair for clubs that don't have rich owners, or have been prevented from spending big because of their own fear of FFP or rich people not investing as much into teams because of it.

If it's one rule for the rich and another for the poor, just remove it and let every club spend what they want. Let everyone have access to rich owners who can come in and spend all they want, atleast City will have some competition for being the biggest crap club on the earth. If everyone is a crap then no one is.
