What's going to happen with Kiko Macheda?

I think it was the beginning of the end for Macheda at United when he insisted on going on loan to Italy instead of an English club.

I remember him on the touchline against Villa as much as the goal. He just looked like a star. Without seeing him kick a ball it looked like he was going to cause some bother. Physically looked the finished article and when he scored that screamer it looked like he was the next big superstar. Shame how its turned out.

All the best to him. He's a product of the over - ambitious loan that seldom works out in the end. Young players need game time, game time and more game time. He didn't get enough when he needed it most and that's hurt him.

With that said, he knows where the net is, and that is transferable at any level. I think, and hope, he could work his way back into a top league over the coming years.

Will drop down to the Championship. He's got talent it's up to him now to use it. Hope to see him as a decent prem striker one day.

So championship, promoted side, or Serie A? I think Series A is the most likely destination.

I think it's 50/50 between the Championship and Serie A. He's had a good spell in the Championship, and most clubs there would want him to play for them. The same applies to the Serie A. I think he'd do well in Hellas Verona, actually, as a replacement for Toni.

Can't see a premier league club picking it up. So it would be championship or overseas I'd guess

What a way to introduce yourself that was. For me he's immortal for that goal alone.

Federico, he made scouse go loco.

It's a shame really, the potential must have been there otherwise SAF never would've given him a chance but biggest problem appeared to be attitude. I think he spent the next two years after that goal vs Villa dining out on it and never pushed on.

hope he gets a decent side enough for him to become a better player. a lower mid table serie A side or maybe a championship side, i suspect he would always prefer to be in italy than england now.

Hope Ole signs him up for Cardiff, I think he'd score bucketloads and I expect them to go up again straight away. Thanks for that goal, amazing moment.

It's incredible how many people still rate him.

Fergie always said he was an incredible finisher. Not sure how good the rest of his game was though, he didn't get masses of opportunities but didn't make the most of them or develop after that Villa goal. A few bad loan moves and Welbeck successful loan spells at Preston/Sunderland meant he got the opportunity.

Be good to see him stay in the English game and become a top striker, shame it wasn't here.

I can imagine him at a lower midtable club in the Serie A in a few seasons. As it has been mentioned already, he can clearly score goals. Not much else, but he does score.

That goal, still my all time favorite Utd moment; even more than Oly in 99 or Giggs vs arse. If nothing else, he can hang his hat on that moment for the rest of his life.

Cardiff possibly makes sense because of Ole.

Wasn't he striker and then reserve coach when Macheda was coming through? Probably worked with him and spoke to Sir Alex about him.

Unfortunately I think that was part of the issue for him.

Making such a contribution on your debut can go to your head and make you believe you are already a star. I remember just after his debut a few workmates saw him about in town and he was acting like an arrogant twat.

I'll bet he wasn't a year later though. The truth is he just never developed here, maybe he gets a new chance and makes the best of it but I think we'd pretty much all agree he had used up his opportunity here.

I just went back and watched that again, I miss seeing SAF lighting up with that smile after a crucial goal, we didn't get much of that last season.

With hindsight I think that goal against villa was the worst thing that could have happened to him. Made him think he was billy big bollocks when in reality he still had a lot of hard work ahead to fulfil his potential

Think that'll be a nice fit for him - his old gaffer from the reserves, will hopefully be able to play with a partner up top since he's fecking useless as a lone striker. He should score a hatful of goals in the Champo.

Hopefully a good move for him. Seemed like he had the wrong attitude after he initially broke through and as a result never built on his potential. Hopefully he can get back on track at Cardiff and forges a decent career.

This is a good signing by Ole. Kiko will be a useful player for Cardiff as he's a good goalscorer.

I hope Kiko can get himself back on track and establish himself with Cardiff.

All the best to him.

Never going to make it at the top level but will always be remembered and rightly so.

To be fair I think its toughest for a young striker to make it at United. Even in our lean years when we lacked a center forward, a talent like Rossi couldn't get games and now we are seeing the same with Welbeck who's been slightly more fortunate. Fergie always went for a top class striker in the market even if he'd more readily give games to younger defenders.

That player who scored a great goal against Villa , will probably how he will be remembered. Wish him good luck .

did he get a medal for that season?

obviously he didn't make enough appearance to warrant one but i thought the club did appeal for him?

I hope he goes well at Cardiff. It was frustrating he never became the player everyone thought he would after that brilliant debut. We'll always thank him for that though. Thank you Kiko.

For a Championship team, Kiko for free is a good swoop.

I remember him scoring another scorcher for United in an away game. That was also against Villa, wasn't it?

He's scored three vital goals for us in two Premier League-winning seasons.

His away goal vs. Sunderland and his 2 - 1 against Villa again, but at Villa Park, after which Vidic equalised in the 2010 - 11 season.
