It’s nothing out of the ordinary for Chinese government/dynasties past and present tbh, as cold hearted as that sounds. They won’t stop until all ethnic cultures are erased and the only Chinese identity left is Han culture.

A small consolation at least is that even though these poor people are going or have gone through the terrible ordeal, most of them aren’t killed. There are numerous reports over the years about forced labour (something Western corporations are complicit in), forced sterilization and forced marriage of Uighur women to Han men. Mercy, as they call it.

Hopefully the sentiment shared here by the former police officer is growing in the Chinese populace:

Jiang said even before his time in Xinjiang, he had become "disappointed" with the Chinese Communist Party due to increasing levels of corruption.
"They were pretending to serve the people, but they were a bunch of people who wanted to achieve a dictatorship," he said. In fleeing China and exposing his experience there, he said he wanted to "stand on the side of the people."

It's beginning to feel like it is the only hope the world has apart from war. If the CCP gets away with this then they will think they can get away with it in other places.
