In modern football, press resistant midfielder becomes a very important factor everyone knows it.

so, in your opinion, who is the best press-resistant midfielder?

Only press-resistant skill count, other skills aren’t count

Andres Iniesta, Fernando Redondo, and somewhat hilariously, Mousa Dembele - the spurs one yes.

Iniesta, he was even better than xavi in that regard if I remember correctly.

Pirlo, just effortless
3 lungs Park says hi.

Pirlo, Scholes and Xavi are in the same basket, incredible with their passing, especially one touch first time pass that afford little time for the presser, but they can be pressed. The most press resistant midfielder tend to be able to dribble their way out of trouble as well.

Xavi, Iniesta, Modric, Kroos, Thiago, Verratti, David Silva, Bernardo Silva, Gündogan, Busquets, Schweinsteiger, Pirlo, Rakitic, Scholes, Kimmich from the top of my mind

I wonder who the most press resistant midfield prospects are? Fewer than there used to be in the 10s I feel

Peak time Modric was the most press resistant midfielder i have ever seen. He is the role model for all the others.

Dembele was actually amazing at resisting the press. He was so strong and so good at using his body to shield the ball, he would just walk past people like they weren’t there. Was a brilliant dribbler as well, beautifully balanced and very 2 footed. Seems odd when everyone else we think of as press resistant is one of the great players of their era.

I’ve always thought that selling him was the beginning of the end for Poch’s Spurs.

Uniform pressing to this degree reduces the pool you can pick from considerably, as it's modern construct. There are many from the past you could name and suspect they could do it with aplomb, but in the actuality of those we've actually seen do it week by week, there's:

Xavi, Modric, Dembele and Verratti who were comically good at it; Iniesta, too (and above all *if* he counts), but I'd keep it at actual, deep CM's not pseudo players like him.

In the absolute centre of midfield? Xavi.

What constitutes a prospect — under 23? Pedri comes to mind. Caicedo seems good at it from the limited viewing I’ve seen of him. The Sporting kid - Ugarte - is supposedly quite good at that stuff.

It's Modric or Verratti.

I say Modric because was press resistant in any part of the pitch but Verratti's ability to be press resistant in his own penalty box is mesmerising.

Ever Banega was pretty impressive too. He gave the Barca midfield a run for its money on more than one occasion. Very underrated midfielder in general.

No surprise that the most press resistant midfielders are also the best midfielders

Modric and Iniesta stand out in my time.

Xavi and Modrić. Crazy agile, perfect control and mastered the body feints to never struggle on the pressure basically.
