Why aren't we being linked with any technically great players?

These are the kind of players we're missing the most in our side at the moment. The Thiagos, Modrics, Scholes' etc. We need more players that never lose possession or miss a pass, can play football in the tighest of spaces and dictate a game. I don't see us in the market for any of these types of players at the moment and I don't think our team will progress until we are.

Because they are expensive and our budget is limited, we need to buy more than 3 players at least to replace mediocre player in our squad.

Because we're clearly targetting big robots and run alot.

And who are these players exactly?

As in, who is realistically available?

You can't sign these players if they're not available to sign.

Plus we already signed one of the most technically gifted midfielders in world football two summers ago for a world record fee and it hasn't exactly turned out great so far.

First off, under Mourinho we've signed:
Alexis Sanchez, Paul Pogba, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Romelu Lukaku, Nemanja Matic, Eric Bailly & Victor Lindelöf.
The 3 first being technically great players and the last was supposed to be great for a player in his position.

The rumour-mill is ran by journalists who know feck all, but even then Willian is one technically gifted player we're linked with.
He is a hard-working player but that doesn't mean he isn't technically great.
Alderweireld is another who we're linked with who is technically great for his position.

We do have quite a few technically great players who need a better platform to play on (both in terms of defense and midfield quality & tactically), so signing players in other positions who aren't technically great can improve upon those who should be doing the job currently.
SMS as a signing could free up Pogba more, Alex Sandro could free up Sanchez or whoever plays on the left, good CB's can push our play higher or just push the ball faster through the midfield line. It's not all about signing attacking-talent to make a team more attacking.
Just let the rumour-mill go and don't put too much stock into it.

Two of the players we are linked to for midfield are Sergej Milinkovic Savic and Fred. Are you going to tell me either of those aren't technically great?

Those sorts of players are very difficult to find. And the ones that do exist are already happy at their clubs.

It would be coached out of them and to compound it they'd be bypassed by long balls anyway.

Every team in world football has a limited budget to one extent or another. Man Utd have one of the least limited budgets around, we've been one of the biggest spenders the last few years. Top 5 i believe.

I understand these sort of players aren't a common breed, players like Saul Niguez or even Thiago need be at the top of our list though.

They are unattainable?
Niguez signed a Millennia long contract and Bayern dont sell their players unless they are absolutely sure that those players are of no use to them.
Although I agree a Thiago would be perfect for us, I don't think he is available.

Again understandable, these are just examples of the type of player we're crying out for. Surely there are up and coming players that have similar traits, Woodward loves to boast about our scouting network so you'd like to think he'd have a good chance of finding them.

Savic isn't technically gifted? Talisca and Sandro arn't technically gifted? Fred?

Isn't it obvious as to why that is?

Let me ask you one question why aren't City being linked with any 6ft+ player to play in CM?

Willian? Insane how underrated he is.

Mourinho doesnt care about keeping the ball. He cares about winning. He thinks the best win condition is powerful, tall players who can cause problems in the air

Are the ones linked to United technically limited? I think people are making things up now.

Both Savic and Talisca are technically gifted. The former is great on the dribble while the Brazilian is a great executor especially with left foot. If that isn't technique I don't know what it is.

Sandro would be, by far, the more technical full back in England.

Because its May

I think only Seri fits that description and is available, but how good he really is i don't have a clue.

Basically playmakers are hard to come by, but i agree that we could use one.

Because the media don't have a clue who we are actually going to sign?
The actual answer to this thread.
Fred and SMS are technical anyway, Toby is the best ball playing centre half in the league.
Get a grip folks

Was a joke. We have enough technical players.

I know mate I’m just kidding too, you’re a poster I respect. We’ve got different opinions on Mourinho but there’s nowt wrong with that :)

You would think attackers who can unlocked defenses would be a priority after seeing our turgid attack this year. Douglas Costa would be ideal for this category but I've seen no links.

Pep is already looking to improve with the likes of Mahrez while we are linked with defenders. :wenger:
