Why don't the fans sing for Beckham?

Anyway, there's a lot of nonsense being spoken here.
Ferdinand didn't have a proper chant. Neither did Patrice Evra. Convinced Denis Irwin didn't have one either.
It took Carrick six years to get one.

Adnan Januzaj had about 6 after a couple of goals at Sunderland.
Martial had one after a few games.

There's not really a science to which players get a chant.
You say that, but the data supports that having an 'a' as the second and second to last letter in your name vastly accelerates the song creation

Other than Ruud, he was probably our best player in 01/02.
Nah, he played out of his skin when he had a point to prove after being left out of the team, because his head was in Paris, New York and Milan, as he did for England when he came on as a sub vs Greece at OT but otherwise, phoned it in.

Hopefully all the 100s of millions he has made for himself comforts the pain of not having his song sung.

Nah. Best season goalscoring wise and we'd have probably beaten Leverkusen with him playing.

He wasnt sub against Greece

In short, he just never had a good song. He deserved a terrace anthem though for sure.

This is how I see it also

He was a celebrity footballer. If I had a choice of players from the period of squad from 1990 to 2013 , he’d not he starting . Madrid bought him for the marketing as much as anything else, had a pay per view medical if I remember correctly.

Also, he was sold because Ferguson felt his celebrity life was impacting his preparation. You could argue rashford will be sold for kind of similar stuff, if not exact same reason . Becks Going to book signings in London with posh spice and that stuff. He fit in at Madrid because ego was part and parcel of their galactico strategy.

Great player, great crosser but not somebody I’d be picking in my all time united team under Ferguson.
Absolutely in my 11. No question. Completely underrated. He can play in a midfield 3 if you want, an incredible striker of the ball, ran his socks off. Who’d you play ahead of him? In a 4-4-2, equally as good with a true striker. He has a case for all time Man Utd 11 IMHO.

VDS
Neville Rio Vidic Irwin (Would take Evra too)
Beckham Keane Scholes
Ronaldo Van Persie Giggs

Maybe Rooney instead of Van Persie?

Beckham’s celebrity actually somehow detracted from his skill as a footballer. He was legitimately excellent. Dammit I left out Cantona… probably my favorite. Maybe a midfield diamond with Cantona as AM?

Really, in modern football Beckham would be a Kroos type. I really see him as incredibly valuable.

Agreed. Best crosser of the ball I've seen at United. Best free kick taker. Ran his bollocks off. Until recently, he would have made my all time PL 11.

We have quite a huge repertoire of songs.

Imo Beckham's and Robson's happen to be the most boring ones..

Unless they're spotted in the stadium it'll rarely get sung

Man be leaving the house wearing sarongs fer chrissakes he would have been better served joining up with herself in the Spicy Girls.

Sure you couldn't be serenading that type of thing.

Big Girl's Blouse Spice.

Beckham was a good player. I'd say world class at crossing and free kicks. But not a world class player overall. I'm not sure why he doesn't have a song. His attitude definitely can rub some people the wrong way. So maybe that doesn't help. Also his flakeyness can't help either. He seems more like a nomad that someone who has a actual home. More out for himself type of attitude. Which is fine.
Is old Trafford his home? For some yes, but not for all.

Becks was a top class player. It looks like a lot of people have forgot how good he really was in his prime.
World class crossing, long range passing, free kicks and corners, along with top class work rate.
Sure he was not a dribbler or a great finisher, but as a winger at that time he was perfect. And he also had that winning mentality so many of SAF's players had. Modern day wingers are nothing like they used to be in Becks time.
I wouldn't say he was world class, but he was a top class player.
My favorite player of all time along with Keane and Rooney,.

I met him a few years ago at a corporate hospitality event. I managed to get a few minutes with him. I proposed to him that the next time he gets to a World Cup Quarter Final, it would be a good idea if he didn’t get himself sent off. Whilst he didn’t thank me, I believe he took it onboard.
Was he surprisingly down to earth and very funny?

One of the many threads titled differently but have virtually the same responses.

Are there any posters on here who go to away games regularly?

I was a regular away fan during the Beckham era. We supported and sang for him all the time, more so after the world cup when he got sent off when opposition supporters were taunting him and his wife/family. It's quite sad that the unwaivering support for him at home and away during that time wasn't mentioned more (or at all actually from memory) during his documentary.
