I have been ‘volunteered’ to write a short quiz for some World Cup themed drinks my office is doing for the draw on 1st dec.
I am going to find some online photos for people to say who the players are but was hoping to get some questions as well.
It’s not a sit down quiz just a sheet of a4 that people will fill in whilst they get pissed, so people will no doubt use phones etc. For this reason ideally questions need to not be easily googleable.
Any ideas caftards?

Who was the top scorer(s) in 1994?

Some may get one because he was a great player for a slightly unlikely team. Others would have to be really nerdy to get the other.

For the unlikely player, bonus points for how many goals he scored in total including that World Cup in his international career and perhaps phrase a question about the record number of goals scored in a single game at the World Cup because he holds it.

Asking who the first European team was to win a World Cup outside Europe might throw a few people. Could be an alright one.

The only player to have played in 6 world cups?

A slightly easier one- who is the only player to have played in 3 consecutive world cup finals

That is going to be too easy to find out on a phone I think.
I work in an online gaming company and there will be plenty of people prepared to take their drink back to their desks and google if it helps them win!

Someone German, isn't it? Matthaus?
Apologies..the question is wrong, thought matthaus had played in 6 but was only 5.
Buffon would have become the only player to hve played in 6 world cups had they qualified

Against which country did Pele score his first world cup goal?

I meant the three consecutive finals one.

Who has scored in the most penalty shootouts across all world cups? (Not regular time)

Who had missed the most penalty shoot out penalties in all world cup? (Not regular time)

Name a nation that have qualified for the world cup at least three times, but never got beyond the first group stage

Can up to that to about eight times for us.

Did not play in the final 1982

Littbarski and Matthäus played in both World Cups - but Matthäus did not play in the 1982 final and Littbarski did not in the 1990

I compared all 3 finals (82, 86 and 90) but do not see any player that played in all 3.

Germany was the first to win in south America

How about, who was the worst ever world cup winner, in terms of goals scored per game?

That'd be interesting. Probably Spain

Meant Scotland exclusively - had some quality sides, but always slumped out early.
You appear to be right! I would have thought you'd have done it at least once... 10 tournaments!

Difficult ones to google:

Who is the most fouled player in World Cup history?
Which striker has the best ratio of scoring goals to the number of chances they had?
Which player has made the most passes in a single World Cup?
Which teams have exited the World Cup without losing a game?
Who is the only team to have been unbeaten in qualifying but did not qualify for the World Cup?

Even more so when you realise what club team played there.:nervous:

Add in the question about who was the only welsh speaking player to win a world cup.

The answer being Sergio Batista who won it with Argentina and grew up in a welsh speaking area in Argentina.

I have written quite a lot of quizzes on a variety of topics for friends and events. One good style of question is one with multiple answers as those who don't know much can get some right. E.g Name the X number of players who have scored 7 or more goals in a single world cup. Or name the three south American teams to win the world cup.

This quiz is great, you can steal some questions of them:
https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...d-cup-2014-the-ultimate-world-cup-trivia-quiz

Questions like 15, 16, Rivaldo's injury etc. are both not that hard and pretty fun

edit: especially this one

What prevented USA physio Jack Coll from treating one of his players in the second half of the team's semi-final against Argentina in 1930?
He dropped his bag, smashed and bottle of chloroform and knocked himself out
