Fullbacks is what hurt them last WC. That and Casemiro being suspended for the QF. Fagner vs. prime Hazard wasn't a good match.
Highly doubt Antony starts. It will likely be Neymar Vini Jr and Richarlison in attack. In. case Neymar starts as CAM/ they might go with Raphinha on RWAllison
Militao - Marquinhos - Silva - Telles
Casemiro - Fred - Paqueta
Antony - Neymar - Vini Jr
something like that,
I don't rate him, but I think """Bobby""" has a right to feel aggrieved. He's been about the only thing holding Liverpool's attack together at times this season, while Richarlison is yet to score a league goal for Spurs - and I can't see any other options up top for them if Jesus goes down.
I wonder how much of a break ETH will give returning players that are knocked out early stages. Should they have to report back right away for post WC conditioning or do the national teams have their own post WC conditioning. The fact that it's in the middle of the season should dictate when they return.
Antony, Casemiro, Fred (BRA)
Maguire, Shaw (ENG) Rashford, Sancho ?
Bruno, Dalot, Ronaldo (POR)
Eriksen (DEN)
Pellistri (URU)
Varane (FRE) Martial ?
Martinez (ARG) Garnacho ?
Malacia (NET) van de Beek ?
Brazil play a 442. Wrong formation.Crazy we have four players in there if that's the WC starting lineup.
Richarlison? What a disappointing selection. A far cry from the likes of Romario and Ronaldo.Brazil play a 442. Wrong formation.
It will look something like below.
Allison
Danilo - Marquinhos - Silva - Alex Sandro
Casemiro - Paqueta
Antony - Neymar - Vini Jr
Richarlison
Thought Fred started every game for Brazil?Brazil play a 442. Wrong formation.

The forward talent on that team is fuking INSANE.....am surprised at only taking 6 CM's and 9 FWD's
Brazil surely must have a better left back than Telles?

Still expecting to see Tim Cahill for Australia. Looks a weak squad

That was basically a CONMEBOL spot. How Peru lost it to a side led by Aaron Mooy and Mathew Leckie, i will never know.That's....pretty drab, yes.
A bit surprised Barbosa missing out, Brazil almost always have a striker from home league in the squad, but looking at that list of attackers it make sense. Fullbacks will hurt them though
They only lost to Croatia on penalties in 2018 and very nearly reached the final of the Euros last year, they're a very solid team. As you say the lack of real individual talent in attack probably limits what they can do, plus if they finish 2nd behind France then they will likely face Argentina in the last 16.The Denmark team is surprisingly solid looking. They will like cause an upset somewhere. A top striker in that team I back them to win the World Cup or the semis at least.
You dont need more than 8 defenders, 2 for each position of 2 CBs and 2 FBs.They only lost to Croatia on penalties in 2018 and very nearly reached the final of the Euros last year, they're a very solid team. That Brazil squad looks very strong going forward but I'm not sure why they've taken 10/11 players for their 4 attacking positions but only 8 defenders, 2 of whom are 38 or older. If they don't end up winning it it will probably be the weakness in the fullback areas that costs them because they should have enough creativity and firepower to score goals.
When one of your centre backs is 38 and one of your full backs is 39, an extra one doesn't hurt. They're also only going to have 4 attackers (including the number 10) and yet they have more players there despite most of them being more capable of playing wide and through the middle then their defenders. You dont need more than 8 defenders, 2 for each position of 2 CBs and 2 FBs.
Croatian coach Dalić even took 9, Vida will be there cause he's good at telling jokes.
Yeah, looking at it again they do look top heavy and also light in midfield. When one of your centre backs is 38 and one of your full backs is 39, an extra one doesn't hurt. They're also only going to have 4 attackers (including the number 10) and yet they have more players there despite most of them being more capable of playing wide and through the middle then their defenders.
I'm nit-picking a bit because it's a really strong squad and they're as likely to win it as anyone but the top heavy nature of the squad was the one thing that looked a bit of a concern.Yeah, looking at it again they do look top heavy and also light in midfield.
We actually have even better FBs now, at least on the left side. Sosa is a really good player and Juranović on the right isnt bad either. Vrsaljko was instrumental in 2018 but he played injured then when he needed operation and that took its toll later big time. He barely played and he recently retired from national duty. Rebić made some stupid instagram post after Spain defeat in Euros and never apologized but honestly he isnt a big miss at all.Apart from Modric, Rakitic and Perisic, I was most impressed by Croatia's fullbacks in the last WC. Turns out neither are there this time (Vrsaljko is still only 30 and had been at Atletico, and the left back, Strinic, hasn't played a game of football since due to a heart condition?) Wow. No Rebic also. Orsic is one player I'll be looking out for.
I don't think Bruno G is going to start games for Brazil, Paqueta will probably keep his spot even if he hasn't been great for West Ham yet.I'd be real tempted to play Fabinho at RB and Militao at leftback, like Germany or France have done (though the French fullbacks were more natural options). Fabinho played for years at RB and at least you get some added height for set pieces, 1 on 1 defending and you avoid Thiago (who is looking his age finally despite making the single best defensive play in the Prem every week) covering acres of space, even if some moves die with Militao on the left.
Also it would be easier to play Bruno Guimares as an attacking #8 next to Casemiro with Neymar as a 10, knowing there are 4 proper defenders behind them. Let Jesus, Neymar, Vinicius and whichever RW you prefer worry about the attacking and just play a fairly broken team that counter attacks a bit more.
You can absolutely win a World Cup that way even if it's an ugly way to do it, but I'm not sure you can win one with Telles or current Alex Sandro at LB.

Strinić needed to retire cause of heart problems, yes, sad stuff.
