To take our minds off of United's performances, here is a change of pace.
What is the worst foul you have seen not to get a red card?
Some rules here. It must have been a foul, so crafty stamps out of the referee's eyesight aren't counted. Second, we are looking for clear examples of refereeing incompetence here - officials who have viewed an assault and decided it was worth a yellow, or, even better, just a free kick. Third, the more recent the decision the better. We can all find examples of GBH from the 60s. The real challenge is to find something in the past few years which is clearly egregious (bonus points for post VAR shockers, as that involves multiple officials not knowing what they are doing.
To start us off, here are two examples.
First, Ben Thatcher earning a yellow in 2006 playing for Man City vs Portsmouth for this:
And back in 1993, that game between England and the Netherlands in Rotterdam. I have selected not Ronald Koeman's professional foul on David Platt but his brother Erwin's masterpiece on Paul Parker:
