we will be better off in the spring to not have the Europa league to worry about....just focus domestically in hopes of somehow making the top 4

we have NO CHANCE of winng hte CL so why bother playing in that event and Europa is just a distraction.

Don't think we'll expend much energy if our game against Newcastle is any evidence. I wouldn't worry about it.

Our players know it's a loss facing Pool City Bayern and even Newcastle now. It'll be shooting practice for Bayern and we'll be slow moving red traffic cones and out of Europe we go.

You'll see move movement and energy expended by fans at half time jostling in the queue for a pie and a drink.

No. Knock out stages of the Europa league isn't until mid February. Who knows where United will be by then and if as good as out of the top 4 race having a 2nd competition with the opportunity of reaching CL could be useful.

A draw against Bayern and Copenhagen beating Galatasary will mean Europa league knock football next February
Nope. In this case, we'd need to beat Bayern to make the EL. Otherwise, with 5 points we will be behind Gala on the first criteria of UCL's Tiebreakers' rules having lost to Galatasaray.
  1. Points in head-to-head matches among the tied teams;

One more aspect to consider: Liverpool is still in C2. And we'd be very likely to face them, considering how UEFA loves to set up these big matches.

Last season we lost to them 0-7 with a healthy lineup. If we face them now over two legs, I'm dreading a 14-0 in total. Are people ready for such a humiliation again?

And if United draw and Gala win?
