In every match day thread there is conflict when it comes to picking players and formations. Then when the lineups actually come out there's more!

So here's your chance to give us the XI you'd pick if you was the manager, providing everyone is fit.

I realise that different players suit different situations so you can state that if you wish. Basically I doubt we can agree on our best XI because our squad is that strong at the moment.

Go!

Probably...

---------Berbatov
----------Rooney

Ronaldo--------------Park/Nani/Giggs/Hargreaves/Fletcher/Tevez/Anderson
-------Carrick-Scholes

Evra---Vidic---Rio---Brown/Neville

----------VDS---------

Basically I think we have 9 players who should be definates for the big games. It's then between Brown and Neville at right back, and between a whole bunch of players for one final attacking midfield/wing/forward position. Obviously who is picked would affect the shape/style etc..

It's probably controversial that I have Berbs ahead of Tevez, and admittedly its too early to tell really, but I do believe its necessary to get the best out of Rooney.

Harsh on Tevez and Park particularly but I like the balance of this team. The seven subs rule gives us plenty of options of the bench should games go either way.

This would probably be my 'CL away, not feeling massively confident' team. I think Hargreaves has done his best work on the right and the team has a nice fluidity to it in switching between various formations.

Ignoring all the factors such as style of opposition, player happiness etc, I feel our strongest XI is probably:

------------------------------------VdS----------------------------------------
Hargreaves------Rio--------------------Vidic---------------------Evra
-----------------------------------Carrick--------------------------------------
Ronaldo-----------------------Rooney-------------------------------Nani
------------------------Tevez---------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------------Berbatov------------------------------------

Brown is solid enough, but offers too little going forward, and I really believe that, given a good run, Hargreaves could make RB his own - he's got the work rate, tackling, crossing and pace. Sure he's no Evra but I think he offers more than Brown.
Neville, Giggs and Scholes are all Utd legends, but sadly I think all have passed their best by some way now. They still perform a valuable role in the squad, and can more than pull their weight on the pitch, but Nani has the pace Giggs now lacks while Rooney can perform a Scholes style role (early career Scholes, not current Scholes).
I recognise this team lacks a bit of strength in central midfield, but it's the only way I can see to accommodate our best XI.

Rooney, Ronaldo, Rio and Evra are the invincibles in our team when played in their position.

Really hope we see that, even if it's just for 1 game. Tevez has played has an attacking midfielder from the left IIRC for Argentina plus Evra is essentially 5 wingers manifested as one.

It depends on whether you are playing with 2 central midfielders or three. It really depends on the match in question. In the big matches against the likes of Chelsea I think we will normally go with three midfielders because generally we'll get overran by stronger 3 man midfields. So my two teams are as follows:

4-4-2

----------------------------------Foster---------------------------

Hargreaves--------------Ferdinand-----------Vidic--------------Evra

Park-------------------Carrick-----------Scholes-------------Ronaldo

-------------------------Tevez------------Rooney------------------

or 4-5-1

---------------------------------Foster-----------------------------

Brown----------------Ferdinand-------------Vidic----------------Evra

----------------Hargreaves-------Fletcher------Anderson-------------
Tevez------------------------------------------------------Ronaldo--

----------------------------------Rooney---------------------------

I would love to see this as well. Ronaldo and Berbs don't track back much so Rooney and Tevez will have to work their socks off but scoring goals should happen :keano:!!

RW: Ronaldo

FW: Berbatov
FW: Rooney

That's what I feel is the best starting line up for us now, in pretty much any game. (Providing their all on form, as well as being fit)

Wouldn't Carrick just be absolutely swamped in midfield?

Also anyone picking Anderson over Scholes needs their head examined.
