Don't worry all of you out there he will get a #stayonyourfeet t-shirt!! De Gea has got nice feet too...I love that in a keeper... #sweeper

Rio has a foot fetish.

How do you pronounce his name? I genuinely haven't been following football since about September last year, too much other stuff going on.

What he'll be wearing in the 11/12 season, just to confirm:

Home GK Kit:

Away GK Kit:
Don't mind the home kit... but that Away Kit :nono:

Nevermind that, great signing & possibly the worst kept secret of the summer, but so looking forward to next season

I have to say that this really is a great piece of business.

Graham Hunter said the other day that 'the general consensus is that he could well turn out to be the best keeper of his generation'.

Casillas also had great things to say about him.

Excellent goalie. Saw his first 2-3 games for Atletico Madrid and oyu knew that he would be a top class goalie for the next 15 years. Most goalies are good shot-stoppers. This guy has that & claims crosses and commands his box very well. Very un-continental like. Gd in 1 on 1s and penalty saves.

Excellent. I'm very happy with this signing, he would have been my second choice after Neuer and we were never going to get the German so it's brilliant.

The summer is shaping up nicely but the most important question remains: will we sign a central midfielder (or preferably two)?

How's his English?
Posted this in the Transfer Thread a few days back..

Nope apparently he doesn't speak English.. Well not fluently atleast..

MEN had an article recently in which his School Teachers said he wasn't very fluent with English.. Otherwise he was a top notch student..

Also Diego Forlan was interviewed about a week ago and confirmed that the only language he spoke was Spanish

Although I am sure DDG has been taking some lessons since a few months atleast.. This transfer was all but done over a few months ago..

He still hasn't actually signed yet though has he? Despite the pictures and the interview Sky are just saying he's to sign and the official site is just saying a deal has been agreed. Is it simply because the window hasn't opened yet as to why this isn't officially official yet?

Well yeah, nobody can offically sign until the 1st.

Ah ok, so Young and Jones haven't officially signed either then?

It's just that's what I thought but arguing about it with someone on another forum convinced me otherwise

Is he normal?
Finally. Excited about this signing.

We've spent about 55m on 3 excellent young players. Now that's how you do business.

Well the transfer window isn't open until Friday, so nothing is official. But the players look to have signed contracts etc, but they can't be registered until Friday.

That's my understanding of it anyway.

The English transfer window opens the day after the season ends.

True, but players can only transfer between clubs in the same association (EPL) before July 1st.

De Gea is coming from La Liga, so can't sign until 1st July, regardless of the English window opening at the end of the season.

This means that Young and Jones are official.

Yeah really happy with this signing, especially the fact that he's only 20.

If he turns out to be as good as we hope he will be then we have our goalkeeper sorted for the next 15-20 years, potentially.
