Great read. As much as purists like to say they abhor stats in football, I think this trend just might be behind the increasing feeling of 'parity' in the PL. Plus that whole angle is probably one of the only ways to grow the sport in the US.It has become commonplace for all clubs to have a stats/analysis department working for them. Simon Kuper wrote a very interesting article about it in the Financial Times a few weeks ago:

For some reason he keeps reminding me of:He reminds me of the Norwegian rapper Lars Vaular:
Yea but Cleverley was at Wigan last season.Nar, Tom Cleverley's is a stunner. Nani's is nice too.
Young cancelled his marriage about a week before signing for us. She was nothing special really. Probably thought he could do better now he's at UnitedYea but Cleverley was at Wigan last season.
Do Young and Jones have girlfriends? Perhaps there's a pattern in all the new signings?
They have two kids togetherYoung cancelled his marriage about a week before signing for us. She was nothing special really. Probably thought he could do better now he's at United
Didn't stop GiggsyThey have two kids together
sharp, anyone would guess you set that one upDidn't stop Giggsy
But he's a red, and I'm proud of him.Yea but Cleverley was at Wigan last season.
Aye and according to twitter he's in Madrid to do a farewell press conference. His full interview at 6:30pm amiright?
You will never win anything with kids......Hansen saying he is a 'boy' is a little dig there.
we dont win with 'kids'
i doubt that but you never knowYeah really happy with this signing, especially the fact that he's only 20.
If he turns out to be as good as we hope he will be then we have our goalkeeper sorted for the next 15-20 years, potentially.
Nah, not yet anyway...none of our new signings have numbers, they will do once the registration window opens.Does his jersey have #1 by the way?
That's the thing, if he is going to be our keeper for the next 10 years he'll need to shrug off those comparisons, play to his strengths and keep his head. He has all the ability, just as long as he doesn't wilt like Ben Foster he should be fine. Not fair to heap so much pressure on David De Gea as to compare him to V.D.S.
^^What he'll be wearing in the 11/12 season, just to confirm:
Home GK Kit:
Away GK Kit:
I know it's really geeky, but there's something really cool about the fact that we could have the 1, 2, 4 and 6 shirts all taken up by brilliant young players next yearNah, not yet anyway...none of our new signings have numbers, they will do once the registration window opens.
Judging on the fee it's 100% sure that he'll be given the chance to be the number 1 straight from the off. Whether or not he can keep it "only god knows".Maybe a dumb question from me but is it 100% sure he'll be the number 1 keeper ?
Probably depends on the pre-season, but he does well enough he will be trusted right away and be our no. 1 keeperMaybe a dumb question from me but is it 100% sure he'll be the number 1 keeper ?
I was thinking this as well. He will definitely be our number 1 in the long run. I just feel that there will be a 'settling in' period for him which would mean he wouldn't be our number 1 during the first few weeks/months of the new season. He's still young and I think SAF will wrap him up in cotton and slowly introduce him to English football. Plus he needs to learn to speak English as communication is key for a goalkeeper.Maybe a dumb question from me but is it 100% sure he'll be the number 1 keeper ?
