But then again, Ronaldo is a one-in-a-generation kind of player. You don't need to be as good as Ronaldo to earn the world-class tag. Nani is our best and most talented player.
Important point. Nani suffers from Ronaldo comparisons because, like every player in the game besides Messi, nobody in the world has as few off days as the artist formerly known as CR7. It is, to my eyes, self-evident that Nani is not as good as Ronaldo but that doesn´t mean Nani isn´t world class. Nani´s clearly world class, he´s just not consistently as on it as Ronaldo is but nothing is that reliable besides Messi and the VW so he shouldn´t lose sleep over it.

Nani´s development has been astonishing. 2-3 years ago I thought he would go nowhere with us but ever since that Arsenal game in early 2010 broadly speaking he´s been superb. Key to his development I feel has been growing older. Nani unlike Ronaldo is not blessed with a great arrogance about his ability and when he was younger his confidence could ebb away for the smallest things. As he's gotten older he's become more mature in his thinking and less self-conscious and its made him a better player. In the next 2-3 years as he continues to gain more assurance and add that to his game it will become impossible for the PFA and FWA to deny him the accolades he already warrants.

I always thought his decision-making would stop him to reach a level that is regarded as world-class. The coaching staff and Fergie in particular have been incredible in that aspect of Nani's game. At one point, I really doubted that he would make it here but his development has been nothing short of amazing.

You just know he will make something happen once he gets the ball - two-footed, his crossing is superb, his close control, speed are great.

What? He was our best player in the first half and the only one likely to actually do anything with the football. He faded in the 2nd half but there were far, far worse culprits than him on that pitch today.

He was good up to the final ball, you can't rely on wingers to provide consistently though and we are lucky to have Valencia, we need more going through the middle for me.

Good first, bad second on the left.

Still a special player who can make something happen.

Ignore evra, he's always hated Nani and is in general a pretty shite poster.

At least he tries to create something, you can always expect him to change the game.

Moaners gonna moan.

Nothing went his way today, he's a good player but lets not pretend that was anything other that a terrible, selfish display.
Bollocks, there was a stat saying he had 24 crosses, that's not fecking selfish. The problem was he only completed 21% of them.

I may be the devil, but i'm not a monster
I thought he had a cracking game, except his final product. He moved, he created space, but when your forwards were standing like statues 'particularly in the first half' what do you do? Should have done better, but you can't really say he went missing at all.

Selfish? Because he took some shots?

EDIT: 24 crosses, as was said above, yeah, selfish

Have you ever watched Nani play before?

Are you genuinely using Nani as a scapegoat here given the way the other 10 players played in that first half? He was way ahead of them in it. He was poor in the second half, but again, everyone still was apart from Valencia and Berbatov.

He was shite but in the first half he was the only one who threatened to create something. Our wingers were forced to play meaningless crosses into the box as our inept CMs were unable to find our forwards through the middle.

I largely got promoted for positive comments I've made about Nani when a great many were doubting his ability. You are a clueless individual.
The stick you're giving him right now is what's completely clueless.

That's what we are calling a terrible performance these days?

He barely got his head up when crossing and his choices today were largely selfish. He took the option to have a speculative shot many times when there were far better options available. I like Nani and I'm not saying that he should be dropped but I guarantee you he's getting an earful from SAF because that's as wasteful as I have ever seen him.

He wasn't selfish. He took one stupid shot when he could've played Berbatov through instead but other than that, the times he shot there were very little other options because our CMs and strikers weren't actually looking for the fecking thing.

He attempted 24 crosses, ok, not many paid off but to say he was selfish is ludicrous.

He wasn't good today by any means but to come in and bump this thread, saying he was terrible despite the fact that he was still one of the best players on the pitch today is an absolute joke.

That isn't a fact at all. In terms of his ability he's one of the best players on the pitch but the effectiveness of his performance today was amongst the worst.

Why do you feel the need to defend him? I think Nani is our best winger but even he would admit that was one of his worst performances this season, probably his worst.
He's had worse than this. I'm defending him not for his performance, which wasn't great by standards at all, but it's the fact you're saying he was terrible, TERRIBLE, when he blatantly wasn't. You're bumping this thread and singling him out as a culprit for probably our most hopeless performance of the season (bar the City game) despite him still being far better than at least 7 or 8 other players on that pitch today. The only 2 who were arguably better than him were Berbatov and Valencia, and even they were woeful in the first half.

Nothing went his way and obviously he's going to take the blame since the other fave for hating on got our two goals.....but Fergie was awful today, Jones was awful, Welbeck/Hernandez didn't really do anything, Rafael/Park....yeah put them two in the Fergie awful part.

This loss is on Fergie more than anything...De Gea will take the main hate, but underestimating BOTTOM teams backfires more often than not, for some reason you can get away with it against a low midtable as proven...but the bench today was a joke, Blackburn were fired up the second they saw that, pure disrespect when Rooney and Giggs would have happily started even "strains" or whatever.

Who was better than him?
