Papiss Cisse

Newcastle are much better for having Ben Arfa starting games.

Great team spirit at the moment too.

Getting ben arfa ba and cisse into the same team has been a masterstroke.

Guthrie has also impressed me alot, and perch has played out of his skin at CB, hes only fairly small but his positioning is very good, and is pace is decent too. Great utility player!

Perch is a simply awful player. He's done alright in the last 2 games to be fair to him though.

As for Cissé, he's made a blistering start. Far to soon to judge anything yet though. We'll know more this time next season.

Far from awful! Good squad player having a very good patch at the moment.

Actually his last few games he's been good when called upon.

His start (5 yellows in 5 games, lol) was absolutely torrid and it's obviously an impression that has stuck with a lot of people, but for me he's turned it completely around during this season. By no means near "class" but a great utility player. Our new Aaron Hughes.

Thing with Cisse is, most of his work has been in and around the penalty box, so you'd think he isn't a flash in the pan, like an Amr Zaki.

He obviously isn't going to be able to maintain this scoring rate forever, but I also don't think he'll suffer from a huge 2nd season let down, or defenders 'figuring him out'.

All down to service at the end of the day, but aslong as newcastle keep creating chances, he will bury them.

thats why 4-3-3 suits them, if ben arfa / cabaye can supply him enough, he will take chances

He's an accident and broken ankle/leg waiting to happen. He's so wreckless in the tackle. I wish I could remember the incident more clearly but in your last game that was on TV (not tonight's) he absolutely battered someone from behind on the edge of your box. Completely needless and dangerous challenge.

He has a Sunday league mentality in the tackle quite often I find.

From the last few games ive seen of newcastle

(swansea / wba / liverpool ) hes been very clean in the tackle, and been quite dominant in the air! im suprised you have that opinion.

Just how much do you see of Perch's games?

That's what everyone said about Hernandez

I see you lot whenever you're on the tele and the odd 3pm game if it's interesting. Not loads but enough.

EDIT: Obviously MotD as well... not that it counts for anything though.

Looks brilliant, but I think he is simply in the zone right now. I think in a couple of years time Ba will be considered the better striker.

I think it is hard to tell who will be better between him and Ba simply because we haven't seen enough of Cisse yet. I'm sure there is a reason he starts ahead of him for the national team though.

I saw most of the game today, and what really impressed me other than his impressive finish for the second goal was his work rate. He was very willing to run back and defend, which was key as Swansea controlled most of the game.

SSN have posted Cisse's stats

Appearances: 8
Goals: 9
Shots: 21
On target: 14
Chance conversion: 43%
Assists: 1
Chances created: 7
Pass completion: 68%

Amazing conversion rate. I do feel he can get knocked off the ball a bit too easily and is a bit of a moaner on that front, but when he gets used to the physical demands of the Prem, he will be even better. Amazing start to his career in England and very exciting prospect.

Just watching a re-run of todays game. That second goal was class. The sort of touch and vision Cantona used to show.

I can't believe the hype around this goal.

Go and watch it again. It's a clear mis-hit.

You bastard, I just rewound to watch it again and then saw your white text.

It's nice to see Newcastle hitting form and Swansea losing it - just in case there is still a fight for the title after the City-game

So not the best way of coming to the conclusion that a player is "simply awful" then.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he's the best thing since sliced bread but he's doing a good job in an in form team.

That's what everyone said about Hernandez

He's had fatigue, concussion, and rotation to blame for the drop off.

Plus he has 10 goals in 24 league matches, and was tremendously unlucky not to score early against Blackburn. If Robinson doesn't get lucky there...he'd be on 11 from 24, nearly 1 every 2 games.

Not bad at all, right?

His goal scoring form in the league has been very similar to what it was last season(13 goals from 27 matches)...it's in the CL where he(along with the rest of the team) have been completely shit.

He's benefitting from being the main focal point now at Newcastle's attack, Demba Ba dropped off from being the main man in their 442 to being forced to play wider in a 433, which is why he's hardly scoring lately.

Pardew did well to bring him in, they won't be that bad off if Ba really left in the summer now.

^Wouldn't they? They usually have Shola coming on as a sub. It's a long season, and it looks like they might be getting into europe.

I think they definitely need to hold on to Ba.

Swansea weren't poor by any means but looked toothless. Despite getting outplayed in midfield, Newcastle were more robust at the back and in Cisse and Ba had significantly more firepower up top.

Compared to before they brought in Cisse was what I meant.

And i thought Arry was a wheeler dealer.Great bit of business.Stuffed the dippers for 35 mil and got this gem for 9 mil.

I won't be surprised if Newcastle end up picking Sigurdsson on a permanent deal too. He'd fit in well there with Cabaye and Tiote behind him.
