Poor shooting decision making, but overall I think he played well today. Especially the times he took it deep then attacked into the box. Our wingers need to do that more when teams are bunching into the middle.

Did well 2nd half but still moments of sillyness.

His head is not right IMO. Which I guess is obvious given the specualtion.

He was really awful 1st half. I am guessing he got the hairdryer as he looked a different player in the 2nd

He was decent at best today, had some really nice flashes but his decision making was off today. Looks low on confidence and seems to really want a goal to get that confidence back, but hopefully he stays in the starting 11 for liverpool next week.

Was poor in his first game. Decent today. Still not at the level he should be playing at but it's just his second game (I think) so hopefully just rusty.

Thought he was decent, creates a fair bit of chances, but his technique and physique wasn't up to his normal standards.

What do you guys mean by poor decision making today? I didn't see that at all, I just thought that his deliveries and technique let him down, not decision making.

Yeah suppose there was an element of just missing his shooting boots but if you look at the scholes goal it looks like he went to place a shot or something rathe than pull it back.

Had some good moments but still a bit under par. Hopefully this gives him confidence to push on to his best.

Nah, I thought it was a brilliant pass between the defenders and the goalie - normally where a Hernandez should be. His vision to pass the ball to Welbeck also witnessed of good decision making, but his cross was too imprecise - which is how I saw him today. Even his speed wasn't up to his normal standards, imo.

His decision making wasn't poor at all, but his shooting was awfull, but overall good game for him. Difference between him and VAlencia is that Valencia in most of these situation wouldn't even think to shot and would go for a cross that would end up as blocked or as a corner.

Maybe, I dunno looked like a shot but could have been a misplaced pass. Toile I said there was an element of things not coming off, some stuff did seem to be him over doing it or not choosing the right option. Think there were times where he could have got the ball in quicker etc. but like I said thought he was decent with good moments. He just needs more games, he'll find his form and either way he still made a difference today.

Had a point to prove and it showed when he was trying to hard by trying to score instead of beating his man and providing a cross.

Was so much better when he decided to just dribble and get the rest of the team involved in the game.

He didn't have an awful first half at all, he was our best player for the first twenty minutes, you lot have the memories of a goldfish.

I don't know what match some were watching. I thought that he played pretty poorly. There might have been instances where he didn't shoot it into the stands, and there was that cross early on to Danny which nearly led to the opening score, but otherwise, he didn't really do much of anything at all.

Good god man you really love the fella don't you?

He was wasteful and made some terrible decisions today...routine day at the office for Nani.

good summary. I enjoyed his performance today, esp when he was running into space full throttle with the ball at his feet; Ronaldo-esqe dare i say it.

a good performance after a few games out. I hope the pre season nonsenses has all been resolved, and with a few more games under his belt he can quickly regain his confidence ... An on form Nani with RVP to finish = buckets loads of goals!

There was that crazy shot with his left foot in the second half. The one that went into row z whereas Welbeck was in a good position and could have received a pass. One situation you said

Better today from him, created some chances and started taking on his man again. Poor shooting but much improved apart from that.

Decent game, nothing more, nothing less. Had his moments and he created our first and most important goal, but his shot was seriously off today, usualy he'd score atleast once given the amount of chances he had (created).

Definitely could've played better, but he's getting better, I'd certainly play him next game, seems like he's a game away from coming into form :)

Not good for Nani is creating the opening goal and getting at Wigan's wingbacks all match until they lost their temper at the end of the match.

Yeah, he was only decent today. Decent for Nani that is.

Apart from that chip that nearly made me want to destroy my TV his decision making was fine. It's just that his shots were awful today.

But overall he had a good game I thought. Got involved a lot. Seems to lack confidence atm though.

Nani's insistence on taking 3 ridiculous shots a match when there is a better option is infuriating. It looks great when it comes off like it did against Chelsea last season but he isn't consistent enough with it. He's got more talent than Valencia but with Antonio you know what you'll get every single time.

Rooney takes on stupid shots all the time too, just something we have to live with I guess. I don't have a problem with the shots when they do come off now and again and when he creates several chances like he did today.

Looked like he was trying far far to hard today.

Nani's at his best when his confidence is up, and he's playing on instinct. Its when he starts over thinking things that it goes tit up. Yet, despite that, he still had moments today of fantastic skill and touch, that no one else in our team is capable of. Give him a run in the team, let him build back that confidence, and he'll be back firing on all cylinders.

It was awfull shot, can't deny that, but decision to shoot wasn't wrong, especially for a player who is usually very good at shooting with his left foot.
He was already in the box, why complicate and try to pass it when you could easily score. I know I would shoot without much thinking, and I'm sure 95% of world best players would think the same.

Given his current form and contract situation how would people feel if he did leave and hypothetically we replaced him with Ben Arfa from Newcastle?

just something I was thinking last night
