-----------Lindegaard----------
Jones---Smalling---Vidic---Buttner
Valencia---Scholes---Fletch---Young/Giggs
----------------Kagawa--------------
---------Welbeck---------------

I expect DDG to be rotated. Rest RVP, Evra, Evans and Carrick for Liverpool. Rafael should be on the bench, no need to risk him having just returned to the side. Hernandez on the bench if required.

I'd like Powell to get a chance but since he's not been involved in the side recently, I'm not sure if he's injured or going on loan somewhere?

Give vidic a few more minutes, doubt he'll start against Liverpool because Evans and rio have been doing alright apart from Newcastle game. Rest pretty much everyone, give Kagawa more minutes to make him ready for Liverpool game. Should be enough to win the game anyways.
Then for Liverpool ..
De gea
Rafael Ferdinand Evans Evra
Carrick Cleverley
Young Rvp Kagawa

This looks about right to me. The only question would be whether Rooney gets the start v the hammers, a question which none of us can possibly answer. This should still be strong enough to see off a pesky West Ham side.

Not sure why so many are resting near the whole team. We've rotated the pack well over Christmas, have 4 days til this game and another 8 til the Liverpool game. Fletcher and Scholes centre midfield? Seriously? West Ham at home are a force, and this is their cup final when United come to town.

Pick our best team, we havn't won this cup in years so its not a game to be fecking about in.

I don't think West Ham will be too bothered about this game either.

They are not safe at all, have got many players injured so I doubt Big Sam care for one minute about going through, staying in the PL is the only thing important.

And I don't care either, we have more games this year than city so I rather focus on PL and CL and play those who need games for the, possible, first rounds of the FA Cup.

Their fans would go apeshit if big sam didnt take this game seriously. This is what they live for.

We havn't won the FA Cup in years, Fergie will be desperate to win it one more time before he finishes. This is a big game, make no mistake.

Looking forward to this game there's no pressure on the result for me. Id be happy if we rested some players while getting the likes of Kagawa, Vidic and Welbeck some minutes.

Judging from SAF's post match comments, Evra and Carrick will be rested while Kagawa and Cleverley will start.

If only Anderson was fit for this. Would have been a good run-out for him, coming back from injury.

^What is it you disagree with?
Evra and carrick have racked up a lot of minutes and could do with a break, likewise rvp has played quite a bit and with his history there's no poor taking risks.

Would hope those 3 get a rest. Would be great if nani/Rooney were back for this game.

Have we? I think we've kept rotation to a minimum. I'm expecting at least 8 changes for the West Ham game and I thoroughly expect to get beat. Mainly because that's what we do in the FA Cup and also because West Ham are excellent at home.

Expecting something like:

Lindegaard
Jones Smalling Vidic Buttner
Fletcher Scholes
Valencia Kagawa Welbeck
Hernandez

Hopefully West Ham rotate heavily also.

It depends how seriously you want us to treat this competition. Personally i'd play all 3. Evra and Carrick have shown over the years that they can handle busy schedules while RVP is our talisman who in Rooneys probable absence should be nailed on to play imo.

Generally most of our players have had a breather at some point and all should be in decent nick for playing another game in 4 days, and another 8 days after that. If we hadn't over a week to prepare for the Liverpool game after this one i would agree with you.

Like the idea of Vidic and Smalling in tandem for this one. 2 powerhouses to deal with the long balls.

Certainly a game to give a couple of underused squad players like Fletcher and Buttner a game, but I wouldn't go too weak, this is the FA Cup after all, and a tricky away tie.

Would definitely just leave Van Persie out though. He's had a lot of game time recently, and a good rest until Liverpool would be excellent.
Welbeck needs a full game anyway, and Hernandez is in good form himself.

Wasn't aware there was such a gap between this and our next game tbh. I still think we'll see heavy rotation though.

I'd be happy with something along the lines of:

Lindegaard
Jones, Smalling, Vidic, Buttner
Fletcher, Scholes
Valencia, Kagawa, Welbeck
Hernandez

I'd of had Young starting here, but he seemed to take a knock today so I'd expect he might be rested here. Would be happy to see Powell start, though I'd expect a place on the bench for him instead. Possibly even Giggs instead of Hernandez with Welbeck up top and Giggs out wide. Lindegaard certainly needs the game here.

We'll take this one very serious, no need not to, it's the FA cup.

I know that the FA Cup isn't regarded quite as highly as it used to be, however the level of indifference displayed by some in this thread is more than i expected. It'll barely be a spectacle if such sentiment was shared at the clubs.

If we can beat West Ham it'd be nice to have some rousing draw in the next round, preferably away. Leeds, Boro [or even Hastings if they pull of a giant killing], Aldershot e.t.c.

And if eventually we got out of the competition who wants it to be some damp squib of game you know.

I see that Carroll is back from injury for West Ham, but we'll whether be thrown straight back in you'd doubt. With Jarvis on one of the flanks you'd like to have a midfield which can properly support the full backs.

Agreed. Very shocking to see. Lots of people treating 'ham like a mid table Championship team, and having a go at Cutch for disagreeing :wenger:

Lindegaard is par for the course I guess, but I'd have liked to see De Gea purely to keep his momentum going. Resting Evra might be logical but have to hope Butner doesn't get exposed.

Lindegaard
Valencia - Smalling - Evans - Buttner
Young - Cleverely - Jones - Welbeck
Hernandez - Kagawa

Although a lot of people see more games as cluttering the schedule, having more games also means that you're being succesful, and it helps you to build an unstoppable momentum like that Treble run.

More games means more players get kept involved and can come into good form at the right times.

We've a few players that could do with a game right now. Rafael, Vidic and Kagawa to get them prepared for Liverpool for 3.

Magical Manchester United.
Assuming Rooney, Anderson, Nani and Jones are still out, I'd go with:

Lindegaard
Rafael - Vidic - Smalling - Buttner
Fletcher
Scholes - Cleverley
Valencia - Welbeck - Kagawa

Kagawa drifting inside and do the playmaking while Valencia plays his usual game, this time with Rafael behind (which hopefully should improve his game considerably). I desperately want us to go as far as possible in the FA Cup this year, so keep decent options on the bench as well please...

Like the look of that team actually.

A way to get Scholes and Fletcher a much needed game, without losing the mobility in there that Cleverley gives.

Don't drop De Gea. I'd like us to win the cup this year.

I'd like to win the cup but I think we have to trust in the squad as well, both Carrick and Evra have played a lot and will be important for the next 2 games, where they can't be rested. RVP could play though again wouldn't want to take a risk on him, but he's played slightly less than them so maybe he'll play. I reckon if Rooney is fit though that he'll be rested. Plus this is the perfect time to use the likes of buttner/fletch/welbeck.

You need to rotate and have trust in your other players as well. And its a cup game, if you don't play Anders here when are you going to play him? You dont want him to get pissed off and then its the whole Kuzchak situation again.

Definitely no Carrick, Ferdinand or RvP. Might be a good idea to play Valencia in the hope he shows some form. Scholes, Clev and Fletcher has to be the midfield or two of those three.

I think some people are taking this lightly.. I think we will still need a strong team out, SAF would like the FA imo, we have not won it for a while and he would be well aware, I can see Persie being left on the bench, fair enough, but why DDG? Would love to see Nani get a run out but I know its far too soon for that
