Sega is in serious decline as a company, doubt they'll ever do anything great with any of their properties again.

Seems like Capcom and Konami are in the same position. Poor poor management.
Don't quote me on this but didn't the two Shenmue games flop? I think they made Yakuza as it's replacement and that did really well in the east so there's no way Shenmue will make a comeback. A HD collection is more likely but even that seems quite unrealistic given the complexity of the game...

First game I ever played was TMNT on NES. I finished it 2 summers ago. Was delighted. A super hard game.

Wouldn't mind setting up the old NES or Sega. Only have one working controller for the Sega and don't know what happened to all my NES games :/
Doesn't matter though as my flatmate has a modded Wii so every NES game is playable on it.

Financially they flopped which was always on the cards with its massive budget.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think Shenmue 3 is ever getting made.

yeah, they spent a ridiculous amount on development and with it only being available on the Dreamcast it didn't really have a large market.

The sequel eventually made it to the xbox but they did almost no marketing. Sad that their mismanagement will mean the trilogy will probably never be finished.

SEGA are shocking when you really take a look in detail at them, they have a huge back catalogue of games and characters and what do they actually have in development right now for the 360 or the PS3.........according to their wiki page, Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F, what!?

They can't even be arsed to localise Yakuza 5 for Worldwide release.

Well, they have the Aliens licence and look what they did with that.

Gave it to Gearbox who took 6 years to make an generic FPS with poor AI. They've pissed off a lot of people with what appears like a deliberate attempt to mislead customers into preordering.

SEGA are fecking idiots! You are completely right with what you have just said. They have Virtua Fighter which should have been a great franchise, all they needed to do is gloss up its presentation a little but they are too lazy to do that.

They have Streets of Rage, which they show ZERO love for, don't even put any character from it into a cross game such as Sega Racing or Sega Tennis.

Other IP's that they own and do feck all with/ruin: Golden Axe (although the Dwarf made appearance on Sega Racing), Vector Man, Alex Kidd, Shenmue, Comix Zone, Space Harrier, Altered Beast, Shinobi etc...

Retro games are one of the only real reasons I've still got a Wii. I went looking for a SNES or Nintendo and at the time a lot of them you were looking at forking out 30-40 quid for the console alone. Ended up getting a Wii which is basically a Wii, a SNES, a Nintendo, a Megadrive among many others (feck, even play PS games on it).

Castlevania: Simon's Quest is up there as one of my favorites (outside of the obvious choices of the Mario series, SF, MK etc). I really need to get James Pond too, that was glorious.

The first game I played I think was some kind of clone from Space Invaders. I actually thought until now that was Space Invaders but looking at a few images in google images I don't think it was exactly that. My father always loved computers so we had one when they were still rather uncommon and quite expensive. He used to let me play occasionally, though since I didn't live with him I didn't explore it that much.

He also had Tetris, which I didn't appreciate at the time, but developed a serious addiction later. It was the original version (I think), shown below, though since our monitor didn't have colour it didn't look half as neat as that. It's still the only version of Tetris I ever appreciated, don't think any other Tetris has ever come close to that one.

My first console game was Alex Kid in Miracle World, and my first computer game (in my own house) was Warcraft 2, which I ordered as soon as I knew my mother was getting a computer, after having tried the demo in my father's house.

First game I played at a friend's house and which made me envy not having a computer yet was the superb Rick Dangerous.

Through one of these is how I discovered the magical world of video games, you can't go more retro than that.

On the subject of Metroid, I need some help in trying to find a cheap-ish copy of Metroid Prime: Trilogy, which is almost impossible because of it being discontinued in 2010.

Every bastard's selling it for £50+

Ooh, if you had asked me two days ago I could have given you a link to an online retro store I know that had a copy for £30. I just checked and it's gone now :(

Just bought The Lost Vikings for the SNES. I'm ready to be frustrated!
Completely forgot about this. I remember buying it but can barely remember the gameplay, only briefly the opening sketch of them arriving on their boat (I think?) and the fact you rotate them for their different skills? (Again I think...) In fact I'm going to YouTube it now

Yeah they can each do different things which have to be used to get through the levels. One can knock down walls and jump, another has a sword and bow to kill enemies, and the last one has a shield.

1 of my favourite games for the sega (saturn?) was guardian heroes.

Amazing game where you could choose from 4 main characters, and go through multiple stages with different endings depending on which route you took.

Was such a fun game and rewarded multiple play throughs to unlock different characters for a giant battle royale type game mode.

Oh and you had a big bad ass skeleton warrior that backed you up, he was awesome.

Couldn't care less.
Ages since I've played a snes like. One of my favourite games ever is Tombi for the PS1 but I'm afraid to play it as it might not be as good as I remember.

Officially the best poker player on RAWK.
De-cap attack on the Genesis (of course a sequel of sorts to the amazing Phsyco fox on the master system) is a class game.

I always remember the greats like New Zealand Story and Escape from the planet of the Robot Monsters from the good old arcade days

Duck Tales Remastered announced

Originally released in 1989 on the Nintendo Entertainment System, DuckTales was widely acknowledged as one of that generation's seminal platform titles. Taking its cue from the Disney cartoon series of the same name, DuckTales Remastered follows the adventures of Scrooge McDuck as he explores differently themed worlds to collect their treasures and become the world's richest duck.

DuckTales Remastered has seen the development team take the levels and layout from the original 1989 release as a foundation before expanding upon them to significantly enhance the gameplay experience but where this update truly impresses is its graphics and sound. All of the visuals from the 8-bit game have been beautifully re-created as hand-drawn and animated sprites, across a backdrop of luscious, re-envisioned level backgrounds. Furthermore, original Disney Character Voices talent, including some from the cartoon TV series, bring in-game characters to life with charm and wit, while the classic melodies of the original soundtrack are given a modern twist.

Further additions to the original include an all new tutorial level where players can get familiar with the iconic pogo jump and cane swing; while Scrooge McDuck's Museum allows players to track all their stats and compare their progress with others via global leaderboards.

A Disney Interactive licensed property, DuckTales Remastered is being developed for Capcom by WayForward and is scheduled for release digitally on Xbox LIVE® Arcade for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft® and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system and Wii U™ this summer.
