There's nothing wrong with calling him a cnut and moving on.

Cancer, definitely not. Crabs, definitely.

I don't know overwhelming media in Germany at least said clearly it was a wrong decision and that comes from a press used to a league where every little contact is essentially a foul.

Of course the Spanish press will have their own opinion and the ABUs in England would probably eat their own dicks before admiting that this red card was a complete joke of a decision.
Same thing with the medias in France, incredibly harsh red card that no one expected

when it first happened I had a feeling he would get a red out, just looked as if he wasn't just waiting for a yellow, but only when Clive was saying he'd get a yellow I started to believe him.

Quite hilarious that he follows 35 people on Twitter and 2 of them are Ronaldo and Real Madrid

I heard that he's one of the top referees in Europe. Hopefully this Berlusconi look-a-like won't ref a CL-match this year.

Sick of talking about inept officials. It wasn't a dirty game. Certain Madrid players made a meal of things but the writing was on the wall. As for the 'official', he handed Madrid the game by making a decision that put the focus on him. If you can't do your job, the one thing you had better be is honest and I just cannot trust a ref who looks to send a player off. No common sense. No understanding of the occasion or even the type of game. He took his time and hopefully cost himself a career because he's a clown. It would be a shame to not become part of a circus with his ability to attract attention to himself. As for his twitter account..can't say it's a surprise.

Not only that, but you'd think that he would be looking to at least even it out a little, like for the stonewall penalty on Young (?) at the end. Can't believe he didn't give us a penalty there.

The cnut was going out of his way to give us feck all, and that was before the red. Ramos pulling Rafael back for nearly 15 yards would have been comical if it wasn't such ridiculous refereeing.

He's an incompetent son of a whore who will never get another big game.

He apparently has built a reputation in Turkey because he has given so many red cards to Galatasaray. They say he has "balls."

To me it just sounds like bias. But, whatever, balls, bias. What's the difference? HE sucks.

Amazing to take such a brave decision, especially after waiting a couple of minutes for the 2 players to get up.

I admit I did have a ver quick, this might be red feeling, but thought of course it won't.

And then the red was out, and it felt as shocking as the Beckham and Rooney world cup reds.

That's the type of thing that could realistically pressure UEFA and perhaps FIFA into quietly not allowing him to ref another big match again.
Seriously how can they allow someone clearly following barcelona and madrid to officiate Manchester United vs Madrid lol. That level of stupidity is typical of what British clubs have to put up with

I agree. Again, that's the kind of gaffe that gets underlings fired en masse. (Sadly not the big dogs, c'est la vie.)

I don't know why anyone is surprised. He tried to do the same in the Nou Camp semi last season. Sending the captain off for an off the ball niggle (arguably the correct decision but probably a little harsh by English standards) and awarded Barca a penalty where Fabregas dived.

Jesus, he's sent off Nani, Terry, Gerrard, Cahill and Balotelli all playing for English sides over the last 2 years. I obviously can't recall every single challenge in question but that's an incredible record of reds for the British clubs from one man.

Edit:

Nani vs Madrid

Terry vs Barca

Gerrard vs Ukraine

Cahill vs Corinthians

Balotelli vs Dynamo Kiev

I would beat him to bits and pieces.

He robbed the world of a great spectacle, a game of colossal magnitude and he does THAT.

You actually should. If it doesn't make it into the press, UEFA will have no reason to bother with it.

In this day and age of DVR and broadband, where live sporting events are becoming more and more the premium product of televised entertainment, UEFA will feel some pressure to act. Very slight at this particular stage, to be fair, but they will definitely look at not allowing him to ref another game involving an English side or either of Barca/Madrid at the very least in order to save face going forward.

I'm sure it is probably bullshit, but a couple of people have said that his son is in the youth ranks at Madrid? Surely not?

This is the same referee that refereed Portugal vs Spain at the Euros. Portugal complained about his selection before the game due to a perceived bias they felt he held towards Spain due to a close friendship with the head of the Spanish FA or someone.

Apparently he's also the linesman who flagged Scholes offside when he scored vs Porto when we got knocked out, although i'm not sure if that's true or not.

Now i'm not going for all these conspiracy theories but there is clearly a suggestion of bias here which begs the question, why was he put in charge?
