Interesting he didn't win the young player of the year award two years ago, when he won the main one.

It's really retarded, the PFA player of the year shouldn't win the young PFA player of the year. Also, the age limit should be 21 not 23.

Scott Parker won the Football writers award in 2011.

I have always preferred the PFA award going back to the days when Steve Nicol and Mark Hughes won the awards in the late 80's. Footballers know more about the game than journos IMO.

Yeah, they are not perfect, but from what I understand the footballers really don't take it seriously and most just vote for the flavour of the month.

Also you said 2006/7. I'm sorry but people are being very biased if they don't think Bale has reached those levels this season. He hasn't got to the standard of Ronaldo the following season or since he's moved to Madrid. But Bale has been sensational this season and just as good as Ronnie in 2006/7.

I'm not biased at all. I don't support either club but Bale this season has not been close to as good as Ronaldo was that season.

I'd say Giggs in 09 and Parker in 11 are the glaring, blatent nonsense awards. So it's 1 each between the writers and the players in terms of giving to to someone who was clearly not the best player that year.

anyway, i think vidic shouldve won it that year but people act like giggs was having a bad season. he was in fantastic form and changed loads of games for us, played in nearly 50 games that season all comps and as i said, there were no obvious candidates that year

I disagree. The fanfare surrounding Michu stems from the fact he cost so little and has vastly exceeded expectations in his first season in the Premier League. That doesn't mean, however, that he deserves a place on either the nominees shortlist nor in the team of the year. Awards are for the best performers, not the best value for money, and Michu has not been better than any of those players selected in my opinion.

I honestly didn't see the biting thing as *that* bad. And I thought a 10 game ban was harsh. What was bad though were those ankle stamps he did this season. The one on Distin in the derby was a disgrace.
