So Nani's injured again and will miss the remaining 3 games? That's his last appearance then...
Hmm, it's the bit about bringing him back in pre-season and being alright. I guess there would likely have been articles saying he's played his last game if he was injured but who knows? He "had" a hamstring injury. Pretty sure he meant earlier in the season when he was out for a few months.
That's pretty much it, yes.I am sure Fergie would like to have Nani as a luxury squad player. I very much doubt that's part of Nani's plans though.
Scholes, Fletcher ? Assuming 1 of the 2 incomings are in midfield.Yeah SAF kind of contradicts himself here a bit suggesting no-one is for sale because he also recently said that we're expecting to get one or two players in and that at times this season we had too many players and trying to keep them happy was difficult and he doesn't want to be in that situation again (or words to that effect). Something will have to give. Inevitably some will have to go.
But he is going to go for cheap. He has hardly played this season and he hasnt exactly lit up the league when ever he has. This coupled with the fact that there is only 12 months left on his contract means he will go for cheap. We would do well to get £15-17m which is a bad price given the fact that we paid that much for him in the 1st place and also given his talent, if he had a few years left in his contract or was in the form as last season, then he could easily go for £25m+.That's pretty much it, yes.
From a transfer-tactical (sorry) perspective it's the smartest thing Fergie could say: I regard him as a squad player. Come and get him if you want - but I'm not desperate to sell him at all, so he won't come cheaply.
I don't quite get your drift, to be honest. He does have a year left on his contract and he isn't in the form of his life - these are the facts, nothing much we can do about it. If we are indeed willing to let him go, what else can we do but try to get as much for him as possible? I don't think Fergie or Gill...sorry, Ed, would be too displeased with 17M for him at this stage. But he is going to go for cheap. My thoughts exactly.Wasn't he saying the same about Berbatov up until even after we signed RVP last summer ?
Doesn't mean much unless Nani signs the new contract.
He wasn't. He also said £15m was too good to refuse. I think the same will apply to Nani. If a big enough bid comes in he goes.. Otherwise he stays and we try to sort out a contract.SAF once said to Sky Veron was not leaving.
I think his injuries have been downplayed quite a bit this season. He seems to have been struggling with a hamstring injury for most of the season. Have noticed a lot of the time he's been wearing the kinesio tape when he has been playing, so it may be something he's been struggling to shake off and the reason a lot of the time for why he hasn't featured.Ferguson also stated he hopes Nani, who is in contract discussions, remains at the club. "We have no plans to sell anyone. That's a fact," he said. "There is no need for us to sell. He played last week at Arsenal and I thought he did well. He had a hamstring injury. He is one of our squad players. When he is in form there are very few better than him. So I think we will bring him back in pre-season training and he will be all right."
Regarding whether Nani will sign on again, Ferguson said: "That is not my department. It is something David [Gill, the chief executive] and Jorge Mendes [the player's agent] are working on. That is ongoing. But there is no progress as far as I know."
Fair point. He probably has been less than 100% (or at least less than 100% match fit) on some occasions when Fergie hasn't picked him.I think his injuries have been downplayed quite a bit this season. Well put.Selling Nani and keep Tony and Young, is kinda like getting rid of Michael Jackson, but keeping Jermaine and Tito.

Out of those three I'd sell the nonce every time. Poor comparison, but I'll give it a F+.Selling Nani and keep Tony and Young, is kinda like getting rid of Michael Jackson, but keeping Jermaine and Tito.
Hasnt he had this "Hamstring" problem all season?
