If next week is the series finale, I might pluck up the energy/patience to watch that... it's been a while since I've seen an episode, so I might be more accepting of it.

The show writers are morons.

That ending was horrible.

The whole episode was. I fell asleep as the missus was watching last week's so don't know what happened there but it didn't feel like I missed anything. Oh except Lily and Marshall moving to Italy.

Robin is such a boring character, her dad is a tired cliché, Barney is long past any slight interest he once had, Ted is the least funny lead in a sitcom ever and Lily and Marshall have the same basic storyline every episode.

The pissing around with the 'will they won't they, but we actually know they won't because it's been clearly shown 58445 times' angle with Ted and Robin is so stupid it beggars belief.

Just introduce the mother and end the frigging show.

I'd laugh if they moved away together and adopted.

Couldn't care less.
The only reason I keep up to date is because I have to know who the mother is. Even though it doesn't matter at all, it's just annoying the shit out of me. fecking Lost want this bad.

Same, but when you think of it, that makes no sense because they'll just show some random woman we've never seen before and be done with it:lol:

Absolute shite. He won't meet the mother until next season. The wedding will possibly begin next week, when Ted stares across the room to this beautiful woman (but the camera doesn't show her), he gazes in to her eyes, is completely dumbstruck and then.... roll credits.

That really was awful, the only reason I watched it because I thought it was the finale.

Regardless of what happens next week, it's the last episode of this show I'll watch

He'll start walking towards her then the credits will roll.
Then the next season will begin with him walking towards her, then Marshall/Barney will intercept him and drag him off somewhere, leading to another long period of time (possibly a few episodes) before he meets her at the train station

If I was one of Ted's two kids, I'd be like "feck you dad, at this point I don't give a shit how you met my mother anymore."

That's the massive failing with this show on the whole though isn't it? It's ability (or lack of) to write in new characters, give them personalities and then have faith that they'll be interesting enough that the viewer wants to keep them around.

After the main cast, the most reguarly appearing people in the show are Wendy the waitress, the fella behind the bar and the taxi driver... two of which are faceless nobodies, and the last of which is a caricature. In terms of actually people, you had Zooey and Elliot from Scrubs, neither of which were remotely interesting characters.

It's because of this failing that the have to constantly link both Barney and Ted with Robin, because what else do they have?

They need to show her this season and then for her to be a regular next year (probably show the marriage and birth of the kids etc) before she get's killed off, I think that's why Ted is telling the mum story in the first place and it would explain why he wished he'd spent the extra time with her a few episodes ago. I think next season will still have it's funny moments but the story will end up being quite sad, they will balance it with the 'awesome life' he others are probably having.

I'd be more like "So you used to feck Aunt Robin? You clearly loved her, our mum was your fall-back? feck you dad!"

That was an awful finale really. They didn't show Ted meeting the mother or anything, just her buying a train ticket. Pretty stupid IMO.

I thought that was really moving. Marshall has to choose between Italy and being a judge, Ted has to move to Chicago because he loves Robin too much to stay, and does Robin still have doubts about marrying Barney? I have this huge twist ending in my mind for when this show finishes completely, and I still think it could happen.

Oh shit, I didn't know next season is the last they're doing? I guess it makes sense now they'll spend this season showing them getting together etc. But I thought there may be a possibility it would continue further. This saddens me.

Not a complete cock, just really young.
Yeah I actually thought that was really good. What pissed me off was how their facebook page already fecking showed her. Bellends.

Other than that I thought the episode was really good. Good note to leave it on so we'll carry on watching in September.

At least they showed the mother now so it gives people a reason to watch the final season and finally close this long arduous saga once and for all.
If people are in it just so they can see the Mother, then there is no point in watching it. The storylines of all the other characters are great, and if we had found out about her in season 4 for example, the show wouldn't have been half as good. I've enjoyed every season as much as each other, and I'm actually pretty sad they are wrapping it up.

I have this gut feeling that Ted and Robin will end up together in the end, and hear me out: Follow any other sitcom like this (Friends, Scrubs etc.) and they all follow a similar pattern, where the 2 main male and female characters (Ross and Rachel, Elliott and JD) meet in the very first episode and fall in love at very first sight.. Well the guys do anyway. They drag out these relationships throughout every season: will they, won't they? They're together again, now they've broken up etc etc. This story line is no different, except they add the inevitability Ted will find "the mother". But I have this crazy sneaky feeling that there is going to be a dramatic turn in the story, perhaps their mother dies during childbirth or in an accident, or they get divorced. Robin and Barney do get married, but go through a turbulent time together, as Robin sees Ted with potentially "the one" and realizes Barney is not the one she's supposed to be with, but Ted is (hence finding the necklace in the latest episode for Ted). I just think they would have left a lot of loose ends between Robin and Ted's story, and call me crazy or stupid or lame for thinking this all up, but if you think about it this could be a story line to work off?

P.S. I'm actually Chuck Lorre......

In the sense that the mother hasn't been a character previously on the show e.g. Stella, Zoe etc. I think there is still a level of intrigue of how they're going to tie in all the clues e.g. how she was in the architecture class (although she looks pretty young so could she have been a student?).

I don't object to the theory that Ted and Robin end up together in some form, but it would be really weird if in the future he's telling his kids these stories about 'Aunt' Robin, who by the way he happens to be banging.

Its been confirmed that she is the Mother though. I hope they actually meet fairly soon so they can focus on how the relationship develops, rather than more of the same 8 seasons of near misses.

This. I ended up getting up early and downloading the episode simply because the dumb fecks posted her picture on facebook. Some seriously pissed off comments on their page!!
