From a fan base point of view we most certainly are. On footballing terms and history, not so much.
We're bigger, but in brand sense. Football wise I don't think many aficionados would see a significant gulf. They're as big in Italy as we are here (if not bigger) and though we've won more ECs, they've been in more finals. I'd say we're in a tier together, but we're the more marketable name.

We are worth over 4 times what Juve are, have twice as much annual revenue, and a significantly larger fan base.

They have more important trophies than us and historically have had arguably better players. I know that only about a decade ago only Real was considered bigger than Juve. I don't think that money is the most important factor about which club has the biggest dick. Don't know about the fan base, they have a very big one too. Not that much difference IMO.

Well in what sense do you mean bigger? We couldn't have rested on our Busby laurels forever claiming we were one of the biggest clubs. At that point we hadn't made significant inroads in Europe (ECC aside) for 30 years.
Before we'd won a modern era Champions League, and whilst the PL was still in the process of becoming the powerhouse it is now (compared to Seria A at the time, which had been top dog for a while, and entirely post Heysel) we weren't considered "as" big of a club as we are now.
It was still at a mid-way point between a dormant, Benfica like legendary club, and the modern super-club we are now.
Or at least that was my impression of it. It was a huge deal to beat them in the group stages. Something now only the Celtic's of this world crow about.

So do Liverpool, but few would argue they are bigger than us. The perception of how big a club is these days is largely based on global fan base and net worth. Plus Juve's stature has faded somewhat with Serie-A's demise as one of the big Euro leagues.

I never considered United bigger than Liverpool. I think that we are similar in club stature, and because we have been more successful in last 15-20 years we are no bigger. Also, if we fail in next decade and them do better, they are no bigger. I think that which clubs is bigger is more complex than the fan base and the net worth.

We were one of the biggest clubs mockney. I think generally, fanbase and commercial acumen are two factors that determine the "size" of a club and its hard to argue that we weren't successful in obtaining either of them, even then.
I agree, Serie A in the late 80s and 90s was the place to be for a player but money played a major part in that; even Napoli managed to sign Maradona and win a few trophies but I doubt few would argue that Napoli are a big club. La Liga had its slump too in the 70s and early 80s but Madrid and Barca were still big clubs. Ajax are still a big club even though they've failed to do anything in Europe for nearly 20 years.
Whilst I also agree that we weren't as big then as we are now in terms of the amount of money we make and staff we now have etc. the size of the club as a whole was still big in terms of European elite.
