Come to daddy!

R-Type Dimensions is a two game bundle with remakes of R-Type and R-Type II. Originally released for Xbox Live Arcade, Tozai Games announced they will bring the compilation to PlayStation 3 on November 21.

R-Type Dimensions has options to switch between 3D and classic 2D graphics. On top of that, the original arcade games R-Type (eight stages) and R-Type II (six stages) will be playable in Classic Mode.

The PlayStation 3 version also has enhanced audio in 3D mode, Infinite Mode where you have unlimited credits, and online & offline multiplayer. Other features like slow motion, key config, online rankings, and game stats are in the game too. R-Type Dimensions will cost 1,000 yen ($11) on the PlayStation Store.

No VITA version. :(

People trying to sell their ps3s then? What kind of prices are people looking at getting or already getting?

I've got an old one downstairs which I can use until the ps4 arrives by xmas and I'll probably keep hold of gta and fifa which I'll trade in later on.

So who can tell me how to fix my PS3? Not sure if it's YLOD will check when I get home, but what types of things should I look for? I'm going to open it up later...

Not selling my PS3 either, still got loads to play on it. I remember getting the PS2 and PS3 near release and being disappointed since there was feck all to play on it. I think it'd be the same for me now if I got the PS4, no game is really jumping out at me.

No chance will I be selling my ps3. I've got a great library of games, its now my bedroom blu ray player and I just like it as well. Won't be selling my x360 either.

The last console I sold by choice was my Dreamcast, I've regretted it to this day. Not selling them off ever again.

Yeh, if nothing else keeping the PS3 just means you can put it somewhere else in the house that needs a BluRay player.

Even without gaming its a great media centre. Youtube/Netflix, chuck a USB drive with a movie/tv show/music in etc. And why on earth would one sell the only console you can play Uncharted, the Last of Us, God of War 3, Heavy Rain, Journey, LBP etc on? For what you'll get back ($100-$150), just seems ludicrous to me.

What's wrong with it? There's a few tentative fixes for power issues. I dismantled mine a couple of months ago only to find out it was a problem with the electricity socket. It was giving enough output to keep the PS3 on stand-by but not enough for it to boot, so the lights went red, green, off, red whenever I turned it on. I only realized it wasn't a PS3 problem when the output ceased to be enough for my modem to work properly and I lost access to the internet. Put it all in a different socket and voilá.

I did open it before I discovered the problem and I was going to attempt some fixes I saw on youtube. Not hard at all if you have the proper screwdrivers and are careful enough not to break anything. If it's a PSU issue you might get a refurbished one rather cheap on e-bay or amazon and fix it yourself, will save you a bit of money.

An excellent side-effect of this was that I cleaned it a bit and now it doesn't get nearly as hot as before and rarely triggers the fan, it's so silent. It was making immense noise before I opened it. I didn't even follow an in-depth cleaning tutorial, just carefully removed the bigger and most evident dust accumulations.

I think it's a gpu problem Arruda, did a bit of checking. I may attempt to reflow it over the weekend...

Sold my slim ps3 this morning and finding the WiFi on the old 40gig fat one to be terrible.

My 10m Ethernet cable has been chewed through by the cat.

Anyone know of any decent WiFi boosting accessories for around £15?

Powerline Adapters. I use them rather than wifi. It's always better to be hardlined.

You need a pair btw. Here's 2 from BT for £20.

After 5 years it seems mine is fecked. Turning itself off constantly, I can't play anything for more than a few minutes. Just as I was getting into Fallout NV too :(

Heat issue?
Don't think so.

Did this a couple of months ago and it solved a some problems, namely the very loud fan noise.

Opened it up today again and it's clean as ever. Gave it a clean anyway to see would it help but no such luck. I've looked it up and it seems to be common among machines this old, it's just not built to last which is annoying to say the least.

Well mine lasted around 7 years (broke early this year), I was about to bin it but in the end I worked out that it was a heat issue... obviously the fix wasn't so easy as I had to reflow the solder on the GPU, but yours sounds like it's on its way out due to overheating (hence the cut-out). You could potentially pre-empt the problem and maybe get a few more years out of your PS3.

I'm not sure if it's the PS3 or GTA5 but I seem to be getting bumped during online play constantly these days.

Anyone else getting it?

I can't even turn it on any more, it just switches off immediately. It's gradually been getting worse over the past few weeks.

Anyway, I'll be making sure to take more care of the PS4 when I eventually get it. Over the years the PS3 has been left on for far too long in my house, it's also been in a few different student apartments getting covered in god knows what and I only cleaned the insides once. You wouldn't believe how much dust etc. was in there which must have done some damage. I'm actually surprised it's lasted so long.

I fixed one machine with a heating problem by putting heat absorbing gel under the CPU and it still works today..
But my orginal PS3 was binned Dec last year due to connectivity between the motherboard and graphic card, got green and black screens..
I put some coins under the assembly and added pressure on both components it lasted couple of months then broke again, the soldering is to advanced for my soldering iron so in the bin it went...

I use to clean my PS3 reguarly, the air vents get a lot of dust... and the PS3 heats up and makes a lot of noise.

There is no way I'm selling my PS3 Rogero 4.47, the homebrew showtime has brought webtv to my living room. And it plays mkv too.

I find the PS3 still very good and I wonder what more the PS4 can bring?

Will get the PS4 when all the defects are corrected and when the unhackable gets hacked.

I've just finished The Last of Us and I'm actually playing Batman Origins and GTAV ;)

I had this problem a few times. I'd always just leave it for a day or two unplugged and it would heal. But the suggestions from others sound better.

Grid 2 is on PS+?
Yes mate, it is. This month in Europe is (including games that have been on for more than a single month):

PS4 - Resogun, Contrast
PS3 - Grid 2, Guacamelee, Dragon's Dogma, Remember Me, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, LBP Karting, Uncharted 3
PSV - Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed, GTA: Liberty City Stories, Gravity Rush, Uncharted GA

My GRID 2 download though is in French. It says GRID 2 (European) so I understand why it's not in English, but does everyone in Europe then get the thing in French? fecking stupid!

This is the tutorial that I followed and it was simple enough, if that's not the type of PS3 you have there will probably be other tutorials for that too...

Well if you use the sale to finance a PS4 then it's good business imo. I never had an extensive library of PS3 games though which made my choice much easier. I got £300 for two PS3 consoles, 4 controllers and 4 games.
