Mata and Silva are about the same. Ozil has more talent than either of them, though, as we all know, he has his faults. In an even market he'd be the more valuable player and would probably be generally higher rated.
Based on what?

Mata has scored more than three times as many goals over the last three years and Ozil has fewer assists.

YESHHHHH, We'll GOOO for it.
There's no need to nit pick now. Mata is a great player and now he plays for us. That's the end of the matter and Silva or Ozil don't matter now. Let's rejoice in this glorious day when we finally sign a player that mata's, welcome Juan Mata :keano:

Mata has blown Silva away as far as the Premier League is concerned. Silva goes missing throughout half a season and is far less productive. Mata is guaranteed goals and assists, if slightly less 'technical', as it were. I made this very same argument in the Summer.

As long as he does the business for United. Don't care if somebody rates somebody else more. I've always liked Mata, even at Chelsea. My fav Chelsea player since Zola. Thrilled to bits he's a United player.
Exactly, the only people's opinion that matter is ours.

Yeah it's amazing.

Loving the reaction of opposition fans to this signing. All of them are living in denial.
We were supposed to fade into obscurity with "typical Moyes signings" like Fellaini. We've signed undeniable quality. Looking forward to seeing who's next!

Putting Cazorla in there when comparing the trio doesn't feel right, with all due respect to Santi. Silva is silky on the ball, Ozil's talent is crazy. Mata trumps them both in consistency and performances in big games respectively.

No one thinks he isn't brilliant. He is, he's fantastic, but if I was picking an attacking midfielder I'd have Silva and Ozil ahead of him. That isn't saying Mata isn't great, he clearly is.
But the fact that you, amongst others, feel the need to sign into a United forum just to say these kind of things is hilarious. I'm not having a dig, because I think most the opposition fans on here are an asset to the forum, but in this instance it does smack a bit of jelousy. Like the Arsenal fans running round shouting how Ozil and Carzola are better, so what? It's like they're trying to convince themselves.

They're doing their best to deny it though.

Yup. Must be a kick in the balls for those who convinced themselves that Man utd wouldn't attract quality players.

Arsenal pulled a rabbit out of the hat with the ozil transfer and now we've done the same.

Based on me watching them and thinking Ozil is the most naturally gifted of the three. That doesn't mean he's the better player, just that if all three reached the very limit of their potential Ozil would be better. Mata is more efficient stats wise, though Ozil is hardly sloppy when it come to assists either.

Just my opinion though.

Mata will send a message throughout the world because apart from Van Persie we've really not signed that many impact players. I'm glad that Moyes is ready to splash the cash and isn't reluctant to break transfer records. :) I hope now that next summer we will get 3 or 4 more players that are of Mata, Van Persie's and Rooney's quality. I've always said this, the transfer fee should be the least important thing if you want a player.

No one has said Cazorla is better.

Erm, yes.
Erm, no.

I think they all expected us to drop into obscurity and sign the CHarlie Adams' of this world. They are now struggling to handle the truth that we have feck loads of money and are still a attractive proposition. feck them.

Yup. Plus the fact our purchase meant (ahem) certain other teams missed out on their targets.

I'd be equally as chuffed with getting Silva as I am at us getting Mata. Both equally as good, and excel at different things. Mata is a great goal scorer. Silva is immense on the ball. I can't remember ever seeing him get tackled, even in the tightest of spots. His ball control is magnetic, and his final ball is usually bang on. Mata is great on the ball, but not quite as good of a dribbler as Silva IMO. But Mata scores goals. His technique when shooting is top notch. His control of the ball first time is one of the best around.

I'd take both over Ozil, for certain. I find it crazy that Ozil was the more expensive of the 3, though it'd be interesting to see how much Silva would go for if he was sold now.

That's because he's not arsed, according to B20.

I reckon Cleverley is actually a better player then Gerrard. And you can throw stats at me that prove otherwise but they're meaningless as Cleverley just can't be arsed to be better. IMO of course.

Got to ask, why do some of you mean Özil's talent is better than Silva and Mata?
It's all about opinions and what you perceive to be pure talent. In my opinion Ozil would have slightly edged it against Mata if he had balls to play in big games. Can't explain why do I rate Ozil's talent that much. As things stand, though, there is no rational argument to say Silva and Ozil are better than Mata.

I think both Liverpool fans are being fair here. As much as I like the prospect of signing Mata, I'd always believed that Silva is superior to the others followed by Ozil and Mata.

I think Özil is bit more creative, and his ceiling is higher, but Mata is clearly the one who is more consistent, and who will rarely disappoint in big games(which can't be said about Özil). I don't know how to rate Silva in comparison with these two. Mata already had better season than Silva in England(even though Silva had season more to prove), but I don't know who would I pick out of Özil and Silva. Probably Özil.

Pretty much this. Mata is more direct but to say Silva isn't as good/Mata isn't as good is unfair to the other imo. Both ridiculously good players.

So, out of curiosity, where do ye think Kagawa ranks in this discussion of AMs? There were people on this site saying he was better than Ozil during the summer...
