Can we hurry up and get this wrapped up. Getting a bit scared with the rumours of giving Giggs the job permanently..
Exactly how I feel. I was excited about what the future just days back. These giggs rumours are scary as feck.

Surely he's had months to think about what he wants to do with us if he got it. He must have realised that there was the possibility he could get this job, surely someone of his calibre has been following our struggles closely.
I'm sure he can see the issues he can fix immediately, but I meant in prep for next season, etc.

All these leaks are the reason I now want LVG more than anyone. We need a ruthless dictator to clamp down on all of this bullshit because it is getting out of hand. I doubt anything will be getting out once he gets here.

I do think we wouldn't make the same mistake as last time, waiting until mid-summer.
If you look at it another way, in terms of coaching the squad, implementing his philosophy and technical approach, which personally I think is just as important as any new aquisitions, most of the players would be at the world cup anyway and wouldn't be back in training until LvG was able to start.

I'd just like to go on record here and say that I think this would be a mistake. A short-term appointment, seeking short-term results - a dangerous trend which I fear might be finally catching up with us. I hope I'm wrong.
I've also always disliked Van Gaal. There's nothing to like about him, really.

Short term appointment ok. But to suggest that Van Gaal (or making him manager) is seeking short-term results is ridiculous.

Van Gaal's short termist focus really killed those Barca and Bayern teams.

Every manager wants to see short-term results. What exactly is dangerous about seeking it? Moyes was a long term appointment but plunged us into chaos within a season. I would say that is more dangerous, appointing the wrong manager on a long term basis. I wouldn't call 3 years a short term in the modern game, it's a standard length contract at the worlds top clubs.

Simple solution, get van Gaal in now and then bring in Klopp on a long term contract when his deal with Dortmund expires in 2018

Just wondering if we could have changed someone's else mind if the sacking happened over the summer. Managers maybe reluctant to leave their clubs during a season but what about in the summer?

Who's that?
Can't remember his name, he's Dutch too (think he's working with the national side, or another national side). The one who called Moyes a dinosaur early in the season for his training methods, think he also spoke out against Arsenal saying the reason they have too many injuries is through poor coaching.

Can anyone remember his name? I'll try and do a search for the article.

Fans on German Bayern forum making Rooney benched/fecked off jokes after reading the van Gaal to United news. Seems like theu know what to expect from him heh heh...

I do remember van Gaal destroying Rooney in an after game analysis once on tv in 2006 or 2007 and called him not too smart regarding his football choices in that game.

If van Gaal came in, and quickly decided that he didn't want Rooney, how much would we get for him?

If I'm not mistaken, van Gaal is credited with kick starting Bayern's golden era of today right?
Yes, and Müller thanked him for his development and Schweinsteiger said if someone doesn't want to win then he is useless for van Gaal.

While I'm not sure it's the right appointment - there are only two names I'd have great confidence in, neither are coming - we have to accept a lot of the things we've known in the past are going to change. And some things which were probably never different, but we've learn to accept them as part of the way we do things, are also going to look a little unusual. You appoint a manager hoping it's for a good few years, but you can't expect that. If Van Gaal is here and is doing well, it may be for four-five years. In modern football, that's a lot.

For some reason i see his imminent appointment as just a stop gap!

But what's to say he wont get a 6 year contract?

I'm just asking, I'm on the fence regarding Rooney.
Ummm, difficult because even hypothetically, no idea who will go for him..maybe PSG, so at least 30m. Shouldn't happen and won't happen though. Rooney is one of the core players who should be part of rebuilding and his experience with club will be helpful. Van Gaal knows RvP's injury record so he is not going to put all eggs in RvP named basket. I think Chicha might leave though...

On all tomorrow's back pages that he's got the job. They all mention Giggs is staying on as a coach as well.

I will give money to some charities once this deal is finalised and United finally enter the modern football era!

Highly unlikely that Van Gaal doesn't like Rooney. If were going to sell him, we should sell him to the Madrid muppets for 60 million pounds at least. No way we will sell him for 40 to Chelsea or something.

Raymond Verheijen?
That's the one! I was just being a bit sarcastic, but he's worked with Van Gaal before and certainly likes to express his views on matters coaching.

He is backing Van Gaal further down in this article too: http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/27123670

He comes across as a bit of a mouth here (although I find myself agreeing with him a lot): http://thebusbyway.com/2014/03/28/yet-another-scathing-attack-on-prehistoric-nitwit-moyes/

The Arsenal link: http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2014/04/22/mertesacker-the-new-verheijen-per-bemoans-injury-crisis/

Could be interesting to see what happens there. Patrick Kluivert has also said he would follow Van Gaal to United if he is asked, so I'm just wondering what about this as a team?

Manager: Van Gaal.
Assistants: Kluivert and Giggs.
Coaches: Verheijen, Scholes, Butt. Maybe P. Neville too, but how many coaches do we need?
