That has nothing to do with anything.is there a rule that limits how low a player can try to control, hit or shoot the ball with his head. i dont think so.

Yeah well it's winter now in Brazil, in the summer it would've been even hotter I guess. In Qatar it would depend on in which months the World Cup would take place and I also think the humidity is different in Qatar. Time is a big factor too, Holland vs. Mexico was played at the hottest point of the day for some reason. Just makes no sense to play football in such environments. Those conditions sound terrible. They'd be similar to how the teams would have to play in the summer in Qatar in 2022 wouldn't they?
If a player dives head first towards the ball on the ground just as the other player is about to kick the ball then it's not going to be dangerous play by the player that is about to kick, the other guy brings it onto himself. Now that is a very obvious black and white situation, the one that ocurred yesterday is more grey. Vlaar doesn't kick that high, and Herrera puts his head down.is there a rule that limits how low a player can try to control, hit or shoot the ball with his head. i dont think so.
Most probably not, but because both players are equally at fault for creating the danger the refrees are on those type of incidents left to their own sense of judgement, but your not honestly expecting a referee to give a penalty for dangerous play in the world cup knock out stages? Had he actually hit him and inflicted some kind of minor damage it would have made a totally different case.is there a rule that limits how low a player can try to control, hit or shoot the ball with his head. i dont think so.
Costa Rica can study all they want, they are a poor side and were found out last night despite the pen shootout. If you have two thirds possession and four times the shots on goal, as Greece had last night, I'll expect you to winNetherlands won't have any byes, I'm afraid. We've struggled with Australia, we've struggled with Chile, we got very lucky against Spain for going 1-1 just after avoiding a 2-0 deficit, and we crept through the eye of the needle yesterday against Mexico, who would have probably won if they hadn't stopped playing football after the 1-0. One thing is for sure with this Dutch team, they are batting way above their quality and it will only take one off-day for Robben to sink the ship. We cannot make play, we need teams that are coming at us gung-ho (Mexico cleverly kept their defenders back when on the offensive throughout the first half, which effectively killed off Robben en RVP), so if Costa Rica have studied the Mexico and Chile games, they have a good chance. The Dutch are living on borrowed time at the moment, and I'll enjoy it for as long as it lasts, but this cannot continue unpunished unless we improve our possession play.
Geez, the Dutch people for football are completely different to English. I think that you'll destroy Costa Rica (who apparently had a single shot in goal against Greece, for 120 minutes). Against Argies and eventually on the final it will be more difficult, but then both Argies and the eventual opponent on the final will attack which will suit your game.Netherlands won't have any byes, I'm afraid. Netherlands should be able to beat a costa rica who have had to go through to the quarters by playing 120 minutes of football and have had to endure a penalty shoot-out using a lot of energy in the process. Would be really disappointed if Netherlands failed to make it to the semis.Netherlands won't have any byes, I'm afraid. Think germany will make the finals, while argentina havent impressed anyone. Think you have played good and organized against stronger teams so anything could happend. Just hope you dont lose yet another final, that would be devastating for you.Holland-Germany final on South-American soil would be something special, but I can't see it happening I suspect it will be the predicted end result: Brazil vs Argentina. The Netherlands is in a transition period, shedding the 2010-2012 guys and bringing through youngsters for the 2016 EC. This tournament is coming 2-4 years too early. The results have been fantastic, but they mask the reality that without Robben's out-of-this-world form and LvG's tactical brain (and the players willing to listen to it this time), we are pretty mediocre player for player and we completely fail in what we are supposed to be good at: keeping possession of the ball, one-touch circulation and creating spaces. Without Strootman, Van der Wiel and (to a lesser extent) Van de rVaart, this was always going to be a tournament where any stage above the group stage would be a miracle.
Dunno, think Van Gaal will be able to outfox the Argentinians. Germany, who they may yet meet in the final if they can go the distance, will assuredly offer a sterner test. Much more quality from back to front. I daresay Van Persie would be the only Dutch player to get a game in that German side. And don't forget De Jong dropping out early on and seemingly set to miss the rest of the tournament. Most people, including most Dutchmen, may not like his bullish actions, but without him this fragile team will be ripped to shreds by the Argentina's and Germany's of this world.
That sounds completely ridiculous.. Win in a WC after 3 lost finals will spell a crisis? If only Croatia would have such a crisis......@redefw: If you have to believe some of the Dutch media, winning the final this year might potentially be worse. Because if we win it in a way that is not considered 'Dutch school' by the old maestro's (Cruijff, Van Hanegem, et al) and their lovers (most of the Dutch sports media over the past 30 years), it will spell crisis in Dutch football land. The joys.
Doesn't Ozil start for Germany ?Dunno, think Van Gaal will be able to outfox the Argentinians. They go for Robben, not the ball. There is your penalty.@ rpitroda , CTPM !!!!! 100x, 4ucking exaggeration. lmao. only posted in 2 threads.
there is no contact, robben dives, ref takes the bait, and Mexico looses.
Ok we get it. Enough with the massive spammy pics of Robben and Marquez.CTPM !!!! never touches him. dives and ref takes the bait.
but going after the ball inside the penalty box is not an automatic penalty. They go for Robben, not the ball. There is your penalty.
but in Herrera's play, Vlaar clearly kicks Herrera in his face/head. the maza play play is not even comparable because maza kicks the ball outside to a corner kick. Most probably not, but because both players are equally at fault for creating the danger the refrees are on those type of incidents left to their own sense of judgement, but your not honestly expecting a referee to give a penalty for dangerous play in the world cup knock out stages? Also i remember a similarly incident involving van persie in the penalty box shortly after the herrera incident, where a Mexican defender barely missed van persie, and hadn't van persie backed off i think he would have been hit. Neither of the incidents where penalties imo.
CTPM @ essaux. not sad more of frustrated that most can't admit that robben dived when the game should have continued on to extra time and possibly penalties. but the ref took the bait.Jim Morrison, we get it, you are sad Mexico lost and Holland went through.
Now go outside and take a dive somewhere in El Paso or Texas's dry desert lands.
You are very sad mate, you've been going at it for the past feck knows how many pages, and you're still going at it.CTPM @ essaux. not sad more of frustrated that most can't admit that robben dived when the game should have continued on to extra time and possibly penalties. but the ref took the bait.
“The words Robin spoke…they really touched me. I was very emotional. Also because of our win of course. Quite a game to have as your 1ooth game. Robin and I know each other well, for 10 years or so now, and we grew close. Gooesebumps.” - Kuyt
It was a poor challenge. Contact was made. He stepped on his foot. He made a meal of it. Any Mexican player in his shoes would have attempted the same. Does someone here need to play the world's smallest violin for you to get over it?CTPM @ essaux. not sad more of frustrated that most can't admit that robben dived when the game should have continued on to extra time and possibly penalties. but the ref took the bait.
Could be mind games for the potential semi final game against Argentina.De Jong is probably out of this WC. I think he is the most important player in Van Gaal his 5-3-2 system. I am curious about Van Gaal his next moves.
Van der Vaart missing imho ended up being a good thing. In his current form and seemingly even mental state I think he would've had a negative impact on the balance of the team. Other than that, Strootman and Van der Wiel missing makes it all the more impressive they got this far. Oh how they could ve used the extra quality now that De Jong might be out for the rest of the tourney.Holland-Germany final on South-American soil would be something special, but I can't see it happening I suspect it will be the predicted end result: Brazil vs Argentina. Well, he got his penalty and Mexico is out. . Get over it, and next time don't forget to play football when your team is 1-0 up.@ SaintTresano , CTPM!!! robben dives and the ref takes the bait.
never a penalty, marquez never stepped on robben's foot, hell he makes no contact with him. if anything robben trips himself with both feet and dives.
even if a Mexican player had attempted the same and dived like Robben, I assure you %100 the ref never would have called it in favor of Mexico.
don't like violins, so no thanks.
it was never a penalty. robben dived.
I am pretty sure the match Holland played in the heat will, even if it was just 90 minutes, would have a bigger effect on Holland than Costa Rica's 120 minutes has on them. In the end it shouldn't matter much though. There is enough time between the matches to regain energy.Netherlands should be able to beat a costa rica who have had to go through to the quarters by playing 120 minutes of football and have had to endure a penalty shoot-out using a lot of energy in the process. Considering the English media and online reaction to Robben like this one I've come to realize that the England team did excellent at this world cup. With the English people genetically unable to distinct between limbs and footballs it was a huge performance to get 11 players even scoring a goal in a football match. But it also explains why any English dribbling talent is kicked into mediocrity before the age of 22.@ SaintTresano , CTPM!!! robben dives and the ref takes the bait.
