Howard was outstanding. So was Dempsey.

Bradley was frustrating. We need better in the middle of the park.

Hats off to Jurgen. No one (including me) gave the team a chance. We got out of the Group of Death... And could have gone through to the quarter finals if not for some profligate finishing.

Beasley is a fecking legend. Loved the guy ever since his days at PSV and Rangers, but watching him put in a shift at full back... Brought tears to the eye.

Belichick, Harbaugh and Carroll should handle our set piece plays going forward. Lot of potential there.

Hats off to the entire team, true patriots :D. Congrats to Belgium, hope they smash Argentina.

Beasley has been there for some time, it shows you just how thin the US is in world class players but I am proud of their efforts.

Belgium deserved it, but that was a nailbiter in the second half of ET.

Did people give a shit about this tournament in the USA in general? Just wondering.
Some did, some did not. Many did, more did not. We crashed the party and hopefully some day we can make it deep in to the World Cup. We took nothing for granted and got better. How many teams can say they left the World Cup better than they entered it? Spain? England? Portugal? Italy?
I can guarantee you the US players are disappointed but proud. Job well done boys.

Comical in what sense? Like how comical it was when Utd outshot Le Arse 19-0 and lost on penalties in a cup final?
No clue which cup final you're referring to, in 2005? Those weren't the stats firstly, secondly this would have been much funnier had US won.

How many countries failed to qualify with a bunch of world class players? With Klinsmann and our determination we will have a chance. That's good for now.

So would Sarah Palin

Alrighty then, the country can go back to hating and not giving a shit about "soccer."
I don't know man. The Americans bought more tickets this year than any other nation except Brazil. Surely they care.

Fully deserved by Belgium, should've scored six or seven if not for sloppy finishing, hopefully they will knock Argentina out.

Take notes Germany. That's how you work a trick free kick.
If Kroos does the right loop - and I guess he does that 19 of 20 times - it would have worked out fine. Müller was planned...

That thing was really clever - just does look stupid when the ball does not get there where it should come to. Müller was through with speed with acres of space and time and would not have been offside.

Yes, I live in Chicago and everyone I know was watching nearly every game. Grant park has been sold out for all the USA games, which is about 20K people. Today's match was shown at soldier field and there were about 60 or 70 thousand people there.

He needs to play the number 10.
I'm getting sick of fans, pundits, and journalists banging on about the number 10 role in relation to England / United / Rooney / anyone who's a forward player. If your good enough to be playing in the Premier League or for your country you should be able to play well in more than one position.

It kind of annoys me that people praise the USA and criticise Greece, even though they both rely on passion, determination and team spirit to make up for the lack of great players.
Greece is a much better team than the U.S though, can't really compare.

Did he say so? If not, how do you know?

Contrary to many around here I thought that Bradley was tremendous, especially towards the end of the game. Great vision and movement. Very intelligent player, far from a poor man's Stephen Ireland.

That "overrated junk" should have buried ye with 5-0 if it wasn't for Howard. Show a bit of respect

The avg sports fan who jumps on the WC team USA bandwagon won't be rushing out tomorrow to buy season tickets for his local MLS team.

Credit to USA, they played their hearts out. Fellaini and Witsel were sitting ducks by the end. How USA found that energy and managed to rally like that in the final 30 minutes is incredible. The Belgians were out on their feet.

That fightback performance from the USA reminded me of us during the Fergie days, where we would throw the kitchen sink at the opposition in the final stages if we were behind. The team would be left just hoofing the ball upfield and hoping for the best but they'd be gifting us possession for another wave of relentless attacking football. That's what the Belgians experienced. Well done USA, you can be proud of that performance.

What an amazing World Cup.

i want belgium to win against argentina but i want messi to wind up brazilians in their back yard.

if messi wins the world cup on brazilian soil, that'll be a massive disgrace to brazilians - having their arch-nemesis win on their own patch

Clearly the US is the ONLY squad with dual citizenship players.

Not at all. Algeria is crazy guilty of importing "foreign" talent for their national team seeing as many of their players learned to play the game in France. Same goes for Turkey and German born Turks, and to a lesser extent you and your Germericans. As a German I'm still a bit disappointed that Klinsmann got Julian Green! :p Green's dad said in an interview that Julian was only considering Germany and the USA had completely failed to approach him at all till Klinsmann personally called and talked to him multiple times. Apparently Klinsmann convinced him.

Best 30 minutes of extra time I've ever seen... incredible stuff, and.Dempsey really should have levelled the game up.

Michael Bradley was magnificent in that last 15.
