Jesus, do you just bury your head in the sand and ignore everything that goes on?

We had bids accepted/made contact with all of Ronaldino, Robben, Hazard and Lucas, and had confirmed interest in Snjeider, Ballack and Essien. How is any of that even debatable?
Indykalia wasn't around to confirm these players though so I'm afraid they don't count.

I do think LvG needs time to assess the squad. I have no doubt that we'll bring players in. There is still plenty of time to conclude some deals, but given the World Cup he didn't have the time so far to get a proper hand on the squad and who and what he needs and who is not in his plans and has to be sold/released.

We already have concluded 2 deals in positions that we need and I'm pretty sure that we're trying to bring at lease couple of players more and we have 1 month left to do so. It's not exactly curtains yet.
There is time left for sure. I forgot that bit in my post but I will be quite annoyed come the end of the window if we have not brought in anyone else. I'm sure I will not be alone either.
Also this is not me being spoilt or impatient either it's more of a genuine worry for the season ahead.
The two deals we have done were very necessary but the squads above us have also signed players that were probably less needed.
Well Torres is awful these days so yes Chelsea definitely needed a striker (Plus they got Drogba) but they have added Fabregas who is proven quality to an already very strong midfield. Arsenal have signed a very good keeper and one of the worlds best attacking players in Sanchez so they will have more goals in them this season. City have signed another quality midfielder so increased their squad strength also. As for Liverpool they have lost there best player and signed several decent ones so I'm not too worried about them but I still expect them to challenge. At present I would put us battling for fourth with them as surely with a world class manager we should be able to over take Everton and Spurs.
Maybe LvG is only tasked with getting CL this year and plans a bigger rebuild next summer?

The extreme optimists annoy me as much as the pessimists do on here. How can you know it's 100% done? Nothing AT ALL has suggested this. I'm slightly optimistic myself because of the things that have been said by Marotta and Vidal himself, but I'm also wary that he could easily decide to stay and come out with it at any moment, and it wouldn't surprise me if he did what so ever.

I edited my post.

Making contact, making bid, accepting bid and just interest, its not the same...
Jesus you're hard work.

We made bids for Robben, Ronaldinho, Lucas and Hazzard. We also offered a contract to Ballack, and tried to negotiate a deal with Inter for Snjieder.

Exactly. Which proves my point, we're not good at getting these kind of deals done (it doesn't matter why, thats not what I'm arguing here)

We never made a bid for Rooben nor we ever offered Ballack a contract.
And Sneijder story was just that. A story.
Sorry but we must be accurate.

As for Ronaldinho, it was all set up but then PSG hijacked the deal and we didnt want to pay Hazard's agent fee. Dont remember what happened with Lucas but it looks like we dodged a bullet there in any case.

Stop being a pedantic cnut. We clearly wanted all three of these players, and tried in some way to sign each one of them.

Exactly some people on here are so caught up in Van Gaal being our saviour with his renowned philosophies they seem to ignore the fact we have lost the on field presence and experience of Giggs, Rio, Vidic and Evra never mind the legend that was Buttner. Bringing in a boy who has just turned 19 and a yet to be capped midfielder, however good they are is still leaving the squad in worse shape than last season.
Whether Vidal comes or not I will be very worried if there's not at least two more very capable players signed especially as I expect more departures.
We will probably play about 8 less games this season without CL. I'd also hope we go further than round 3 of the FA cup so I don't buy we need a lot smaller squad this season either.
If you look at his record with Alkmaar, Munich and the Dutch, then you can assume we will do better than last season. Especially when you consider what he had at his disposal at Alkmaar and with the Dutch. Bayern Munich's transfer windows weren't as good as they are now, when he was there, still he got them to the Champions League final and won the championship with them.

Ferdinand's and Vidic's form last year wasn't any better than most of the squad. Giggs didn't play much and Evra was reliable, but still made far too many errors, mostly because he was overplayed IMO. We had to replace them eventually. Since when has it been a bad thing in our history to trust the youth and the manager for the season ahead? And I'm sure, we will sign some players before the window closes.

That is the problem with the mentality of the club, we brought in 2 players, a hell off allot needs to be done , those 2 signings are making up for last seasons mess. We need a CM and CB signing badly

I refuse to believe you were in for Ballack. What would ferguson want with a midfielder?

yes we wanted robben no question, but when chelsea declared interest and robben wanted to go to chelsea, ferguson backed down. He wasnt going to held ransom by a player. Ferguson generally picked players who wanted to play for the club. If they didnt want to play for the club, he bought someone else

Just wait until we're back from our tour. The ball will become unstuck and we'll begin to see some real progress in our transfer dealings. LvG said he wanted to assess the squad first. US tour will have allowed him enough opportunity to see who can take on board his philosophy and who can't.

Yeah because this is by far the biggest transfer story we've got this summer and I think if we're not interested/Vidal isn't interested we should have ended any links as letting them continue does nothing but get fans annoyed if it doesn't happen and gives the media/other fans more ammo to aim at the club.

As I said if we're not looking to do a deal then our silence doesn't help the club or woodwards image so I don't understand the rationale.

Hopefully we are looking to do a deal and the hold up is over price or maybe us looking to check how his recovery is going etc.
This is one of the reasons I believe it is going to happen

For what it's worth Robben looked around OT etc

Ronaldinho was in the bag, agreed fee with PSV then turncoat faxed a lower bid

He can do one if he doesnt want to join this exciting team tbh. We have Fletch and Herrera in midfield. Take it or leave it, it seems we are not longer under need under LvG

He'd be perfect with Herrera in this system where clearly both CM's are allowed to use their intelligence to know when to stay and when to join the attack.

Like said, ideal for us but this one will run and run until deadline day. I think it's a possibility but it's not going to be easy.....

Fletcher is showing great form. Maybe van Gaal has been convinced and will veto any interest we had in Vidal after the Madrid game.

Delighted. Fletcher deserves a chance.

He does but other than him, Carrick and Herrera who do we have. Cleverley and Anderson.. Oh yeah, and Fellaini..
Not to mention Carrick is injured.

In current form Fletch would be ideal back up. Not sure when we decided back up players had to be mid table standard (Cleverley)

What a 'scintillating' post. Were you as delighted with Cleverley's performance? Do you really think we don't need another midfielder in ?

Face-shattering from you Kevin, face-shattering.
