If we were really in for him he would be our player by now. There isn't any reason for this to be dragged out.

It's over guys let's move on.
You're right, I don't think there's ever been a player signed in August, ever.

There is no way that Woodward is going to kill all the speculation re Vidal cos its a ready-made smokescreen for whoever Rooney has told Paddy Crerard we are going to sign. Clever guy.
You know what that's a really good theory! Either way it's exciting and I think we will see next week. I reckon he will want to unveil a new signing for the Valencia match at OT.

Really, you can't think of one reason why he wouldn't be signed already?? Absolutely there is the chance we are not in for him/he doesn't want to leave. It might also be because a) LVG wanted to assess his squad before making signings (you know, like he said he would do and as evidenced by no incomings or outgoings since he made that statement) or b) a negotiating tactic to lower the price.

It's almost like you don't remember the RVP signing... (in August). Feel free to 'move on' and not open the thread anymore though. Honestly, statements like that are the forum equivalent of standing outside a church on Sundays and telling everyone walking in that god isn't real.

Does sarcasm make you feel smart?

I would love us to sign him. The the facts are:

We have money available to spend
Juve are willing to sell if the players asks to leave.

Those two points should make the deal quite straight forward, the fact that nothing has been done so far added to the lack of credible links saying its a goer points to the fact we're not interested. Its not in our best interests or Juve's to prolong this is it?

Normally in a deal that drags out one of the clubs has something to gain from it. In the RVP transfer Arsenal wanted to make sure they got all their season ticket renewals in first an ramp up the price as there selling to a direct rival.

Look, I hope I'm wrong on this. Maybe I'm just burnt by the cesc and 'insert midfielder' of the past.

These type of signings never come off for United. Plus note is that no one else really needs him from the big sides, they're all stacked in centre-mid.. but we always find a way of messing up these deals even when our club had serious pulling power.

Have i missed something? Can someone tell me what this is all about?
During half time on MUTV last night Paddy let slip that he'd had a long conversation with Rooney and Wayne had told him about a player that we're "supposedly going to sign"

Arturo Vidal will travel tonight with Juventus for the tour. If Manchester wants Vidal must do it quickly. [GdS] 1/2
And if Arturo Vidal wants to go away he must to say it clearly & quickly, otherwise Juventus is happy to keep him. [GdS] 2/2

Cheers. Was there any hint who the player was?
No, he just said "and he mentioned a player that we're supposedly getting but I'm not telling you" then laughed. Ramshock posted a Vine of it on the Twitter thread last night.

Not happening today ot looks like, might happen later, maybe after we monitor him playing on tour, to be satisfied with knee.

Could even be that his knee is mashed and that's why Juve want him to go, want to cash in Hargreaves mark II.

He was always going on tour.

Think about what we actually do know:

Is he currently a Juve player? Yes.
Are Juve going on tour? Yes.
Are they going to leave a player behind? No.

Seems like it's Vidal who either can't decide or doesn't really wants to leave! Then just say it or get yourself a new tattoo with the right message on it King Arturo!

2. I think Van Gaal is hell bent on wanting Strootman but will wait.
Well if that is the case, VG is playing a huge risk. Strootman may not be fit until February that is if strootman settles into the PL, without a pre season, August to February is a long long time away in football. The fact we are thin on quality midfielders and just numbers at the back, boggles the mind how those 2 positions have not seen another CB and CM brough in by now. If smalling jones and herrera pick up injury's, keane another academy player and who ever of our CM options will have to play. Carrick is out until October, so the defence and midfield are time bombs, to make sure we make that top 4, its crucial another CB and CM is signed.

Worse case scanrio if we lose 3 players to injury

-----Evans keane ??-----

-----fletcher cleverly-----

If van gaal wants to take that risk, he is the boss. But if we want to make the top 4, I think it is a huge risk to expect no one to pick up an injury. It has been a great pre season tour for the squad, but van gaal cannot control injury's

He is back in full training now, Im sure he will be playing football matches by October/November.

With the way Fletcher is playing I think we will be fine without Vidal. Strootman a year down the road or in january is probably a better option than Vidal also based on probably wanting to come here to play for LVG where as Vidal might only turn up for the money and then lose his hunger for the fight 1 or 2 seasons down the road while still picking up the huge salary

So as last weeks Vidal week was a bit of a disappointment, is this week Vidal week?

To think of it, if Rooney is "very, very happy" about a potential signing, who that could be? Think muppets think. Definitely not a forward as Rooney won't want someone meddling with the bromance between him, RvP, Welbeck, Mata etc. It has to be either Vidal or Hummels. A possibility of Di Maria too but he is very close to PSG already. It is difficult to see Klopp eating a broom so I will put my money on that player being Vidal. Another strong signal towards ArturON. Thanks Paddy.

So they are back on the 17th.....good lord. I'm so sick and tired and bored of this already. I was really hopeful we would have some concrete news rather than Juve actually relenting and saying "yeah actually we could sell him" and papers going nuts claiming if he goes on tour he won't be sold.

It poses a problem for Allegri, doe he start training with Vidal in there who can do things his other midfielders can't? Does he implement the new signings instead of Vidal but then Vidal may stay? It's all pointing towards Juve having pinned themselves in a corner and in actual fact they are more than willing to sell him.

For some reason we are sitting on our hands, it makes no sense at all. Woodward needs to make an executive decision here. LVG may be holding back the bid saying..."no, no we have players we can compete" but the truth is every game stuffed close together means more of an injury risk to Fletcher, he's our only real option to play with Herrera, Cleverley looked dog shit and is only viable in the worst situations.

Just sign him, LVG may moan at first saying "he wants to see all players" but I think he has an idea now...as do the fans. Vidal would elevate our midfield into elite level, we're in control now against the best teams, with him we'd dominate games.

Wasn't the quote that Rooney was very happy at the club rather than with any potential signing?
