Lovely finish, would be nice to see it from behind the player or goal though.

Great strike. Reminded me of Altintop's screamer for Turkey.

Actually, I don't think that he's that impressive. Looks bang average most of the time, unless he pulls something like this out. I feel like he'd look better in a better team while having a lesser role.

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
I hit an almost identical volley for my side on Tuesday night. A defender blocked it and I was so, so pissed off as I've never, ever hit a ball so sweetly before. I remain convinced it was flying into the top corner.

He impressed me at the WC. Looked Belgium's best player

Yeah, he's basically one of those highlight players. He's shit most of the game, than pulls something out of his ass and people automatically say he has a good game.

Hah! Exact same thing happened to me a few weeks back. If I'm entirely honest, I reckon it was going a yard wide but every time I replay it in my head, the ball is heading straight into the postage stamp. Another few months and the going wide bit will be gone forever.

I disagree. He does a lot of work all match and creates plenty of chances. He may not be a top player, but he 's certainly above average.

I don't know about bang average. Inconsistent, sure, but he's not average. Hard to say exactly what his top level can be. I wouldn't take much stock in his brief Chelsea career as I think that was more of a conflict in what Mourinho wants of out his players and De Bruyne's mediocre tackling and defensive play.

He's young version of Paul Scholes. Can pick a pass, scores some wonder goals from distance. Clearly not at Scholes top level, but Belgium doesn't breeze through it's WC qualifying group without De Bruyne's goals, assists, and general midfield play. He's not a great tackler, but he runs everywhere.

He's the type of player that can carry a team offensively for decent stretches at time, but he needs to play every game to maintain his level.

I don't think Wolfsburg is his top level. That we'll find out in 2-3 years.

Average might have been an exegeration on my part. What I'm trying to say is that he doesn't look anything special when he doesn't have these moments. He doesn't have what it takes to start for a top team (yet).

What he offers when he doesn't have these moments, is solid. Which leads me to the thought that he might be a good buy for an elite team looking for a player for the bench who could fill in if needed. He's not reliable enough to be the main man though (which is somewhat expected from him at Wolfsburg).

We talk about a 23-year-old player...

I like how Simon Kjaer turns around and throws his arms out like 'what the hell, guys?'. As if anybody was going to stop that ball.

For what it's worth Dortmund really wanted him after they lost Götze. Iirc Watzke even explicitly said that they already negotiated terms with the player (they usually don't comment potential singings at all until the guy is on the way for his medical).
Also Bremen was/is a pretty terrible team and he looked really good there scoring or assisting ~20 goals there was quite remarkable.
Wolfsburg isn't the best team for someone to shine either.
