Taking the next corner instead of Jones!
Van Gaal's use of Falcao is getting annoying. He's not a Hernandez or Welbeck he's a world class player who has the stats to back him up. This is game that could of really given us a boost and the players. £150 million and we can't even beat West Brom.
If I was the sort of person that posted "this" as a one word answer I'd have said it to THIS!

Unlucky not to win on the balance of the game, just yet another game where the opposition took every chance that fell their way! The worst period for me was between Berahino's goal and Blind's. We just lost all shape and composure and I couldn't see us getting another goal.

In terms of player performances, Mata and Januzaj were both very poor and Rojo looked shaky to say the least, but it's good to see Fellaini have a good game.
I agree with this. This period reminded me of moyes era. Very difficult to watch and build up was so slow. Few times we got in between the lines then went backwards instead.

Van Persie looked awful today, didnt show anything that I would expect from "captain" material. Very poor.

Mata will be out in january or summer, not the same player he was at chelsea. Needs the team to be revolving around him. But this just wont happen here.

Love the attitude of falcao, can tell he is a utd type of player through and through!!!

Is there a new rule that says handball in the box against United will not be given? There have been too many of them this year.
Don't think it was a penalty myself, they both challenged for the header well and he bounced off Adnan then made contact with the ball. Don't forget Rafa got away with one so maybe the ref wanted to be consistant.

I think Rojo has to take some blame as well. Jones pushed in with Sessegnon, so when Berahino drifted behind, Rojo really should have covered him for a few seconds while Jones was out of position.
all three at fault - rafa rojo and jones in some way. but jones did not to press that far up. it wasnt required. we created chances for them tonight.

I knew we were in for a moysey type of night when i saw the formation and the spaces adnan and di maria were occupying from the get go.

It just does not work at all januzaj might as well just ask the bi line for its hand in marrige. Dont even get me started on our defenders.

We all remember the bad times last season but we had some excellent comebacks too, Stoke at OT for example.

Why is lvg obsessed with rvp. Falcao should have started. He looks so much better. And i dont think anyone will choose Mata over Rooney anymore.

Believe me people will,Rooney is like the Antichrist to half our fans for some reason, even though hes constantly been our best player for how many seasons now..

    There's only one United!
They did, have you watched a different game? The scored 2 goals out of 2 chances, possesion was 64 to 36 for united, chances 7 - 2 in favour of united, 11 - 0 in corners for united.
They basically scored 2 goals out of 2 counter attacks.

    Exactly!

This sums up our game tonight - we kept good possession of the ball and were good going forward.

'They basically scored 2 goals out of 2 counter attacks.' = Right. So this pinpoints our problem = our defence. Let's buy a couple of class defenders in January and we can be positive.

Remember that we are rebuilding our team this season.

He has had his 3 games to prove that he is better than Rooney.
IMO Rooney is better and I will welcome him back after his suspension. I think he is due to return next game?

At last LvG is talking "in England it's physical" as long as he doesn't overcompensate for the Chelsea game! That's the game you need the slight moveable players for not the bruisers. Play Fellaini and it's a deffo red card waiting to happen … especially against that cheating Belgiun feck they have!

Falcao looks as strong as an ox when he's on the ball, shielding 2/3 players at a time. Hopefully he'll get the nod ahead of RvP if it comes down to a decision between those 2.

Well all three are somewhat to blame, but it certainly wasn't fully Jones' fault.
I agree with you - it was not Jones who was to blame, it was Rafael who stayed back and played Berahino onside.

Yeah but your logic isn't very good.
stop flamebaiting and get to the point, I don't have time for your moody behaviour

I know I know, man.....But those two goals were just a little individual errors from the defenders, the first goal we conceded was from an individual possesion error from the young Shaw and for the second goal both Jones and Rafael are to blame, Jones for being out of possesion and Rafael not playing the offside line.

Di Maria was average as well today. Yes he can cross the ball awesome but imo he should take on defenders or play a one-two more often than crossing the ball 20 times in a match.

Vs Chelsea i want to see a "home like" performance, I want RVP to be benched and Falcao to get his first 90 full match and I really hope we can achieve a statement win as I am quite sure we will lose @ City the weekend after.

This man of the match feature is pissing me off this season. No fault of the feature...just that we rarely have anyone worthy of man of the match! Di Maria is normally our best performer by a mile but he hasn't even been on top form most of the time. So many average/rubbish performers in every game.

Unfortunately for us hes still suspended against Chelsea.

Wtf? Are that shots came from sky? We pushed them in whole second half in their penalty box.
nearly all the shots were blocked by someone right infrnt of them. Was brainless and poor. Almost no good chances made just lots of ranged shots.

RvP was horrible. He looks a shadow of his old-self. Falcao should be starting, I assume he wasn't because of the internationals. Di Maria is much better in cm, that way he runs at defenders that are not used to a winger running at them, much more deadly. Rooney is showing to be better than Mata at cam. Adnan shows signs of good play but is missing that decisevness he had last year, taking too long and defense is in position. Fellaini was very good, scored a beauty and looked calm on ball. Also didn't just stay up front which Moyes told him to do last year. Blind looks good. Herrera should not have started, very poor. Jones, I have always believed he would be a superstar but I am having doubts. Cant fault DDG. Shaw was alright, not good but not poor. Rafael, love him. Brillaint going forward but should wake up on defense.
Perfect summary of the match. Against Chelsea, we should either play 4-4-2 diamond or 4-5-1 with adm as part of midfield 3 along with Blind and Herrera. Young on the right wing to mark Hazard. Januzaj on the left. Falcao as lone striker.

Their first I think came just after Di Maria miss hit a pass but it was a great goal and typically his first of the season. The second, I don't see why our centre backs are trying to play offside that high up the pitch. Rafa plays their lad on but if Jones and Rojo just defend the situation - be a bit more cautious, that situation doesn't arise. Stupid defending.

    On a positive note:
We are unbeaten in a few games, now.
Another point is that previously, after 60 minutes we'd stop playing, act shell shocked and then get pinned in our own half, attempting to park the bus. Today, this didnt happen. We were dominating right upto the end. The problem was that the WBA had 2 shots on target and they both went in. This sort of stat rarely happens and I think it was a bit of a freak result.
We do no need better defenders - P.Jones is slow and best described as an oaf.
Credit to WBA - they defended extremely well. They were happy to have Man Utd in their own half, but maintained cool/calm/collected and maintained their shape. Man Utd could learn from them.
We need to learn to be comfortable when the ball is in our own half - at present we panic.

I actually think that we took a step forward and this was our best away performance this year.

Ok, I have calmed myself down a little now. It was so infuriating to watch this though, we are so incredibly unlucky right from the start of the season. We dominated in this game, granted there were a few hiccups or better said brain farts from blind or shaw here and there but for the most part we absolutely dominated todays game. The players who stood out were Rojo, Blind, Herrerra, Di Maria and Shaw right at the end along with super sub Fellaini who played his best game yet for United, oh and Young did well in some occasions. Falcao tried to help the team, but sadly had only little time to show his true qualities. On the downside Mata is incredibly lackluster, he is so slow on and off the ball and overall his contribution to the team was next to none. Januzaj had a wasteful first half, but managed to scrape some good passes towards the end of the match.

Oh and I hope Di Maria is ok, I really do hope it isn't anything serious, he was putting an ice on his right thigh muscle...Rooney did a really REALLY stupid thing against everton...we miss him, it's very obvious. I hope won't miss him for the away match at emptyhad.
Iam also very hopeful Mata will step up his game against the chavs aswell, he needs to, despara

What I really thought we could have done today is swap wings. We never seemed to even think of it as an alternative. Januzaj on the other wing is much more effective. If not anything more, it is a good tactic simply for its shock value.

Lvg not a fan of wing swaps?

    Some real depressive comments here!

Can't people see that our ONLY problem is our defence??
If we build a good defence we're competitive from then on.
Our only, and yet, a HOPE-KILLER of a problem!

This is where I was hoping LVG would at least take a leaf from Mourinho's book: sort out the defensive play as a unit first, and then add the missing pieces to push forward. I looked at some names in the roster Chelsea had last year and I would never have bet Mourinho to pull it down to the wire with that team despite some poor results against lower teams... but he did and then we are now seeing how he picks up from there.

    There's only one United!
It was mate, we're not playing well.
The mistake that LVG did in the transfer window was that he concentrated on our attack and he maybe thought that buying Rojo and Blind was enough to help our defence get better. Unfortunately it didn't.

We must admit that United are much better up front now with Di Maria and Falcao, and a team that can add Rooney and RVP with those two is quite dangerous, to say the least! But stars like these also need time to blend with each other. A creative midfielder, ala Pirlo, can also make us great again.

Our Problems = defence/Mata/Januzai - today for sure.
