Fellaini was good, de Gea was better and Smalling was the shittest.

Should try and play Carrick as CB. He has a good passing range from the defense.

Am I the only one that thinks Oliver was fecking horrifying today? How Zabaleta came away without a redcard for that assault on RvP is beyond me. Also how Jovetic got away without atleast ONE yellow is beyond retarded.

Not blaming the referee for the result though, Smalling was being a moronic tit today, what the actual feck did he do at the first yellow?

Excellent performance, full of heart. Lvg's work is really showing. Very unlucky to lose. Not bothered by this. If we keep this up, we'll go on a run soon.

Midfield was terrific. As was defense. Carrick excellent when he came on.

How could anyone be proud of such a pathetic performance as what we served up today? We couldn't pass, couldn't stay in position and couldn't do simple things you would expect from professional footballers. Smalling and Rojo were both stupid, that first yellow card was absolute stupidity, the second one was retarded, Rojo had no reason to dive in like he did, but he's done it and injured himself. Most annoying thing was how rubbish City were, yet, we managed to be more rubbish than them - the only few times we actually bothered to play football, we looked like scoring.
Get a fecking grip. The heart in the last 30 minutes was great.

And Di Maria was shockingly bad. Not a big game player it seems :( And LvG must seriously consider asking someone else taking corners.

Silly mistake from Smalling probably cost us in the end, but i'm so proud of the 10 players and subs who played today. They all ran their bollocks off, and played with passion, which is what you like to see in derbies. We even had chances to level, but couldn't take them, unfortunately.

Everyone will obviously be peed off with a loss, as am I, but I personally feel today and last week has shown that we can compete with the 'best' teams in the league. Hopefully, we can stay injury free and put a run of wins together.

Apparently we can't give a 0 for the ratings.. Guess a 1 will have to do for Smalling. Rest of the team did well enough (other then Rojo who was also shit).

I really don't like Fellaini but he's been good recently. Credit where credit is due.

I think we would had gotten something out of the game if we had Rafael at right back. They were exposing Valencia a lot in the first half. Disappointing that Smalling lost his head, twice.
At least we didn't get massacred after going 1 man down.

Think things will we go on a run now, nobody expected much from these 2 games anyways and the performances have been better than expected.

Right. But picking the playing 11 goes to the manager.Wanted to see Herrera over Januzay and Valencia at RB is asking for trouble. The only thing to critisize after this game is our defenders/defending.
i wanted to see herrea over fellaini and mata over januzaj and play the diamond. dont think we could have done anything else but pic Valencia if Rafael ant fit.

but i think the main critzims are tactical, we set out to play as a responsive team reacting to city game rather then playing our own, and the problem with that is we simply dont have the quality at the back to rely on not conceding, so if you dilute our attacking play then you end up with a failrly poor defensive team with and okay attack, instead of a world class attacking team with a very ropey defense.

and Van Gaal choosing cautuion over attack seems to be the biggest negative of the day

City were there for the taking. They had little pace and little penetration.

Without that fecking idiot at centre back we'd have got a draw at least. Good spirit, good work rate, good shape and discipline on the whole. Happy at the progress, but it's time to start winning.

If Di Maria hand't of chosen this game to be completely sh*t we would have still won this game.

That should really go without saying. If you're expecting our new manager to be as good as Fergie I can assure you that you are going to be disappointed.
I am not expecting same level at least stable. Look at Chelsea, even they change manager, they did not drop to 5th or 6th or even 7th.

You don't have to gush about him but saying he's been shit every game he's played is just completely wrong.
Well tell me what he has done in all the games since hes been here? He doesnt stamp his authority on the games, goes invisible for most parts and only kakes himself visible when hes collecting yellows and scoring goals. Which are too few to justify his price tag. And to think we couldve gotten Strootman in the same window.

    Shaw - very good

    Rooney - good

    De Gea - fine

    Blind - fine

    Valencia - decent

    Fellaini - decent

    Di Maria - disappointing

    RVP - woeful

Losing to City is always a terrible thing, but we were down to ten men and we showed real fight and character at the end.

We could (and probably should) have nicked a draw.

Also, how Joe Hart never got sent off for sticking his head into the ref I'll never know.

He's the lazy type! Never really warm to him even when he's performing a bit. His only advantage is his height but then it's hardly working for us most of the time.
Last two games he's been very good, but aside from that roulette today he didn't properly turn up imo.

No word on the three penalty claims for City?

Didn't think at half time I'd be saying this but we deserved at least a point from that. If we'd defendedlike that earlier in the season we'd have won at Leicester and probably won a couple of other games too. McNair looks so calm, he should be first choice CB until we buy a big name (and maybe beyond). Thought Carrick, Felaini and (most of the time) Shaw were immense. Rooney came good late on and will grow as a midfielder if givent the chance. People question Blind but I thought he broke up quite a lot of their moves. All in all, made them look as ordinary as we made Chelsea last week. Two disappointments: again was Di Maria: terrible, terrible corners when we needed them to be quality to give us an opening. And RvP was awful. As a lone forward youhave to hold the ball up. He never did. Looked more threatening when Wilson came on. And had Zabelleta been booked early on he would ahve been off too near the end. Oliver is among the worse refs around

And Di Maria was shockingly bad. Not a big game player it seems :( And LvG must seriously consider asking someone else taking corners.
Di Maria wasn't shocking bad at all? Thought he was decent when he got on the ball, can't do much when we are parking the bus like we were in the middle 3rd of the game. His corners are awful though, true. Just wouldn't judge a player how they played based on corners.

Anyways. Normally he is at his best in big games. Just needs to play more central IMO.

We played well, even with 10 men. Probably couldve got something from the game if Smalling didnt get sent off.

Fellaini was good, de Gea was better and Smalling was the shittest.

Should try and play Carrick as CB. He has a good passing range from the defense.
Carrick made two pens, was late when goal came and yaya turn him like a kid.

I'm never felt like this when we've lost a game before... but there were so many positives from this game. We are definitely moving in the right direction despite the stats.

We could have taken them... Smalling you donut!! Carrick looked better at centre back, he was calm and played the ball nicely.. exactly what we've needed for a long time.

Looking forward to the next game :D

Says a lot when Carrick and McNair looked more secure than Smalling and Rojo did with an extra man covering. We could start the next game with McNair and Blackett at centre back.
Side note - Rooney was ace second half.

Oliver obviously did his part showing he's not an United-ref today. What do a United player have to do to get a freekick? Jesus christ

Meh. Feel sick knowing they were there for the taking. Then that bellend decided to sign for us.

Nothing but optimism after this result. Massive improvement on last year, and we're missing key players. I don't care what people say, we're going to walk into that top four. 5 or 6 wins on the bounce now.

The performance was great, very encouraging. We showed we can play with the top teams in the league,

How the hell was Aguero the MoM. Yes good goal but that was all he did. For me it had to be Fellaini
