Not in a month of Sundays.

The fact that Madrid fans - a team that already has Ronaldo, James, Isco, Modric, Kroos - would want Di Maria back tells you everything. He's simply a better player than Bale.
I'd rather have Bale.

No way would Real do that anyway. The fact they valued Di Maria at 60m and Bale at 86m should be an indicator.

I think Bale was born to play for us sadly he's not being appreciated in Madrid at the moment which is a real shame. I think we will still try to sign him this summer regardless what his agent has been saying.

Ogden from telegraph has apparently said on MUTV tonight that Bale to United is pretty much a done deal

Bale is happy, Ancelotti says he will stay, Perez says he will stay. Bale will stay. Please stay.

Richardson is one of the best journalists to be fair when it comes to United I think.

"I think it's almost a done deal, I know someone close to Bale and he's not happy"

Absolutely nothing to back up the assertion that United are even interested, let alone that a deal is 'almost done'.

If our recent activity had suggested anything it's that the British hacks know jack shit.

He says it's almost a done deal and backs this up by saying he knows someone very close to Gareth Bale.

Obviously, he could be lying through his teeth but what level of evidence are you looking for? A sworn affidavit?

Almost everyone these days who's on MUTV say it's a done deal so what's really happening ?

The guy who was few weeks ago said exactly the same thing about the other target.

Poor Adnan is going to have to give up that number 11 shirt if this happens.

The two comments didn't seem to be linked in that way in the (admittedly short) clip.

He only used the "I know someone close to him" card to support the suggestion that he's not happy in Madrid, the "I think it's almost a done deal" comment just followed on from Ogden saying he 'had a feeling it could happen' because United could afford it.

If Bale could find his prem form, and Depay settles very quickly, this would be some team:

Depay - Rooney - Bale
Di Maria - Herrera
Carrick
It would require some extra defensive work from Herrera, but what it could do while attacking would be something else, although I'd say counter attack would suit that set up more than the heavily possession based tactics.

I would feel slightly sorry of Fellaini being dropped from the team, but honestly, is in there for his height, and for an option to cross into the box, or aim for as a more direct route. The thing is, Bale and Depay bring goals, whereas young and Mata fetch a more creative side to the attack, so the height that Fellaini would bring would not be as needed as it has shown lately

If he really does know someone very close to Bale he'll know whether or not it really is "almost a done deal". Like I said, he could well be bullshitting but he's clearly saying that Bale to United is very close to happening.

I just hope we don't spend an obscene amount on him. I think he's a great player and think he'd do great here, so no issues with that.

If that was the case why wouldn't he have said that he knows someone close to Bale and they've said it's on? Rather than just that he knows someone who's told him he's not happy?

He's putting two and two together and hoping he's come up with four. It's typical journo guess work, chuck enough shit at the wall and then point at the stuff that stuck as evidence of your sources being great.

More flashy wingers when we really need midfielders and defenders. That's the Unuted way. Feck knows where we'd actually fit him in, but let's go for it anyway.

It's not all guesswork. A lot of them do have legitimate contacts.

Still deciding

How many wide attacking top class players will that leave us with. A few will be on their way out if this transfer does happen.

On the Ogden thing.

When Bale was at Spurs I worked with a Welsh guy who was from the same town/village as Bale. He said he was home seeing his folks at every opportunity and missed them badly when he was away, a proper family lad by all accounts.

My mate said the talk of the village was that he would sign for Utd as it meant being closer to home, when it didn't happen they were shocked

I don't post this as an attempt to be ITK just might be some idea of what Ogden thinks if he knows people from the locale

Not sure how reliable but I hope we aren't back to the Ferguson tradition of hoarding wingers and strikers once again. I'm going to choke someone if we end up buying Bale & Cavani and yet trot out Valencia, McNair and a 35 year old Carrick in starting line ups next season after LvG complaining all season long about lack of balance.

I will be happy if its true. Although I'm not sure what this means for Mata and Di Maria

Do people reckon Bale could be an interesting choice in the Fellaini role for us?

Herrera/Gundogan/AN other Carrick/AN other

Di Maria/Mata Bale/Fellaini Depay/Young

Rooney

He might just work in that role if he can be trusted to put in the defensive effort. It would certainly give us a pretty lightning trio behind the front man. The one main issue would be whether LVG considers they can be safe enough on the ball to not give us possession too much.

Probably the same ones who told them Di Maria had no intention of joining United whilst he was on his flight over.

Or that told them Liverpool were leading the race for Memphis (Richardson himself wrote this)

Some of them obviously do have contacts, but judging from the difference between last year and now, they don't have them inside the club anymore.

He would be a good buy. We would still need a few others but it's difficult to know what LVG is thinking. It'd be a lot of money but he offers a threat in behind and in front of a packed defense. He would be encouraged to shoot which would suit him down to the ground. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Why? You dont even know the price it would be..
We already have Depay, Di Maria and Januzaj all of whom play best on the left. Not to mention Ashley Young who has been in great form this year.

Now there is talk about spending 60+ million on yet another left sided player in Bale. While he has played on the right for Madrid he's only playing there because Ronaldo has to play on the left. His best football in his career has come on the left.

To be fair, I thought Bale was at his best through the middle for Tottenham.
As for playing on the right, Bales figures are much better than the wingers we have already.

Januzaj needs a loan, Di Maria could play CM where had his best season and Young has done ok this season yes, but he is never going to win us the league

That's strange - he moved to the right at Tottenham and played there or in the free role in the middle in the later stages of his Spurs career. He is clearly at his best there - since he changed his game and become more of a goalscorer and less of a traditional winger.
