His last season in england is overrated as hell, i watched almost every game of Spurs that season and he was bang average in 90% of the matches but then he would score some beauty from distance and nobody would talk how he played.....really cant understand why people want him here, he is obviously not good enough to play at the highest level so why the feck should we sign him? Dont even want to mention the price tag. He played in counter-attacking system last year and he was average, now he plays in more possession based system and he is even worse, if we sign him this will be the worst transfer in the history of the club.

Sure look at the reaction on here when Real Madrid made him the most expensive player in the world, the news was met with more 's than anything else.

Apparently he was assaulted outside the Bernabeu and hospitalised. Crazy! Just WTF with that club's fans!

I find it very suprising that some people questiom whether we/Louis is interested in him.

I have absolutely no doubts that we will close this deal IF Madrid show interest in selling.

I don't think it would mean Di Maria leaving, or that we would face much budget retraints in pursue our other targets.

I truly see this happening. And I think he would be incredible at United.

Exactly!

Except Di Maria is very infuriating and he's not surrounded by a circus and a bunch of egotistical tossers. Fancy walking off the pitch, having a laugh with one of the WBA players at full time after THAT cameo
Yeah Di Maria just looks like he's passed the point of even caring, Bale kinda looks like he's walking on eggshells.

To me Bale just looks one big reassuring cuddle away from been fantastic again.

It would be a beautiful end to the Young & Valencia era as our main wingers... only if we won't have to massively overpay but recent form should downgrade the price substantially.

He's clearly unsettled and I can see that City and Chelsea may also have their say in solving his problems.

Overrated as heck. One decent season where his average performances were overshadowed with a 50 yard goal every game shouldn't change anything. Imagine paying 100m for this guy
Our issue is not being able to break teams down when they park the bus, we need players good on the ball and good at close dribbling and link-up play, bale doesn't excel at any of these things, he's a good counter-attacking player. If we're willing to spend that kind of money we could buy a few players all of which would be a better fit for us than Bale.

This Bale performance reminded me of Colombia's three games in America in the summer of '94.

Bingo. He's great at exploiting space with his pace but a bit wank in tight spaces. So our style and him makes a poor fit.

Also, I'm sure he can become the player he was again, but people seem to be taking it for granted that he'd instantly get over this shit form like the turn of a switch.

I'm starting to believe he's realistically leaving. If he's homesick like Ogden suggests, I'm worried about Chelsea getting him. As long as FFP isn't an issue, the thought of Bale Hazard and Costa is not a fun scenario.

People also seem to have unrealistic expectations of him. Don't get me wrong, I think he's a great player who has goals in him, but other than pace and a strong shot he doesn't offer much else. He's the kind of player who does well having a mediocre team built around him ala Spurs. Great player but 100m for Bale was a joke then and an even bigger joke now.

Everyone here was laughing at the fee at the time.

I think he's worth around 40 million max I.e around what Sanchez was bought for. We overpaid for Di Maria due to desperation. Let's not make overpaying for big stars by such vast margins, an annual deal.

Also given he's miserable at Madrid, we shouldn't be paying over the odds anyway.

I'll let him stay where he is, I've never been fussed about Bale though he's obviously a very good player, but I don't get the obsession among United fans, he's gone to a top top club and can't cut it, but somehow there's an unwavering believe that he'll come to United and be a hit, what is this based on? If he's unhappy at Real Madrid, I'll let them deal with that, we have othe priorities. He's not worth anything more than 40m in my opinion, I know we have a lot of money to spend but we should not be mugs.

If Mourinho some day decides to sign him, paying 100/125 million €, all the critics will start licking Mourinho´s ass, writing how intelligent he is

It's not going to happen though, only United would be stupid to pay such a silly amount for a player who has had 1 average and 1 poor season.

I mean, one of the big reasons we though Di Maria was worth over playing hugely for was because he had done really well at a top top club at the highest level. Bale is so far struggling at that highest level and looking out of place.

I have big doubts.

I'd say a good and an average season.I still think that until he plays on the left is only showing a 80% of his potential

That, in my opinion, is utter nonsense.

He was dominating games in much the same way as Gerrard was in that purple patch for Liverpool five or six years ago. He held Spurs together single handedly and to say his performances were 'average' in 90% of games is laughable. 90% ??!!!

Real Madrid, like me, obviously saw something you didn't because they sure ain't going to shell out £80m on an average footballer just because he got 20 odd goals for a team not even classed in the top five in England.

When you say you watched almost every Spurs game do you mean highlights on MOTD ? That's hardly a benchmark to properly judge a footballer.

I don't think he'd suit us.

He was refusing to take on a 33 year old Evra for crying out loud.

We'd be rescuing Madrid by offering more than £50m. I don't think he'd be any useful if teams park the bus.

Now I wouldn't mind Isco, if we signing a player off Madrid.

Totally agree. Under sir Alex, he'd make a quality signing on the left.

But under lvg's possession play, Di Maria's invention is probably more useful than bale's pace against clogged spaces.

I think hes a great player, one who is good enough to have the whole team shaped around him imo and i'd love to have him at United but surely after his two seasons at Madrid his fee has to go down from what they originally paid.

Isco  yes please, now that's a player

The way I see it is, Bale is struggling at a much better team that plays his style of football, quick, counter-attacking football. That being said, I don't see how he'd fare any better considering we're not as stacked with talent as Madrid are, nor do we play counter attacking football, we like to dominate possession.

Have you watched Young and Valencia the last 3 years? Bale's last season average you are having a laugh!

He missed a lot of chances but at least he showed some heart and effort. Where was WPOTY tonight? Where was he in last years finals?

Honestly, in a tight game I'd rather have not just Messi, but Robben, Suarez and a few others ahead of Cristiano.

Last season, Bale was crucial in winning tropheys for Madrid. This season, he is struggling. One average season does not define him as a player though. The criticisms are a bit OTT.

Not sure we need any more galacticos tbh I'd rather we invested in more up and coming players like Depay. Bale has been v poor lately I don't want to see us paying upwards of 60 million for him.

What good is arguably the fastest player in the world in a team where we camp outside the oppositions 18 yard though? I reckon he's much more suited the Chelsea and Di Maria is much more suited to us.
