Soul Man
Yes. I knew it had to have been done. Maybe it's just her performance art version of Soul Man.
Soul Man
No.That's a little bit provocative but there is evidence that we share genes with chimpanzee, so should we understand that someone ignores that he is human and identifies himself as a chimpanzee?
How come no-one is bothered that the NAACP has the word 'colored' (sic) in its name?Worth noting. I have had a few African American history instructors who were white. The NAACP has had a long history of accepting white members(many of the founders were white) and there is plenty in leadership positions.Plenty of white people go to Historically Black Colleges and Universities. She could have accomplished everything she has accomplished without doing this.

That whole thing is a fecking minefield.
I used 'oriental' when I first came here and got told off for it.
How are you supposed to call someone from Orient?
"I sexually Identify as an Attack Helicopter. Ever since I was a boy I dreamed of soaring over the oilfields dropping hot sticky loads on disgusting foreigners. People say to me that a person being a helicopter is Impossible and I’m fecking retarded but I don’t care, I’m beautiful. I’m having a plastic surgeon install rotary blades, 30 mm cannons and AMG-114 Hellfire missiles on my body. From now on I want you guys to call me “Apache” and respect my right to kill from above and kill needlessly. If you can’t accept me you’re a heliphobe and need to check your vehicle privilege. Thank you for being so understanding."
Reminds me of...
My bro-in-law has a blonde white mum and a French Moroccan Jewish dad. He's white, dad is quite dark-skinned. My sister and I pointed out that instead of marking his ethnicity as 'white' and religion as 'none' on those work ethnicity forms, he could actually quite legitimately be 'African other' and 'Jewish' (he was brought up as a Jew).We had a mental lass who used to work here who claimed to be black, quite vocally too. She was actually Scottish but with a Moroccan dad and was slightly off-white. Even the black staff here laughed when she said loudly 'yes but I'm black and I have to deal with whatever'...She was an attention whore more than anything.
He could just say he's mixed race, its what I put down.My bro-in-law has a blonde white mum and a French Moroccan Jewish dad. He's white, dad is quite dark-skinned. He now has a cool ethnic identity and does think of himself a little differently!
I know . How did she even fool them, I mean its obvious!TBF I've known a couple of people with a black or mixed race parent who look caucasian. But this is ridiculous, she's just wearing fake tan
We share 96% of our genes with chimpanzees, so...That's a little bit provocative but there is evidence that we share genes with chimpanzee, so should we understand that someone ignores that he is human and identifies himself as a chimpanzee?
I dare say being trans is still pretty taboo to the vast majority of the West, let alone the wider world.Maybe now that transgender isn't a taboo, we'll start to see people bleaching/darkening their skin and claiming they are a 'white person trapped in a black person's body' and vice versa as the new social barrier.
We share 96% of our genes with chimpanzees, so...
Really the point is that your identity is not really governed by your genes or by your body, it's governed by your upbringing (which is where body-image becomes a factor). To give an example where trans-racialism could actually very easily be a thing: a black kid who was adopted by white parents and grew up surrounded by white people (who somehow didn't treat him differently). This kid would identify as "white" in every way, despite their skin colour. Race is something that doesn't really exist on a genetic level - what matters is culture, and culture is definitely something you can adopt.
(Not to say that this person isn't crazy/doing it all for the wrong reasons of course...)
Yeah only the first sentence was really directed at you. That's what I said, in my second post.
I'm white but legally considered American Indian in Canada, this woman doesn't have a clue what it's like.
I don't think they have that as an option. It's very specific these days, in the public sector. He could just say he's mixed race, its what I put down.

Shut it, Tonto.
Do you live in a reservation?
You could open up a casino.

Me tooI'm identifying as Asian for the rest of the month
Weird because several stupid people I know, didn't know that India was part of AsiaAsian apparently. But for me, that's Indians, Pakistanis etc.
I think there's been a few cases where someone who has one black and one white parent is raised by the white parent and looks 'white'. Sometimes they're not told they're actually mixed until later and up until that point they've just indentified as white their whole lives.
