Javier Hernandez says he can see a role for himself at Man Utd next season

I say we keep him.
He would have scored more than Falcao last season.
So would have a lot of strikers.

Only sees a future with us because Real Madrid rejected him. Last thing we want is another sulker, when he is on the bench again.

I'm up for giving him 6 weeks or so to see how he responds. If not well, off to Spurs in a swap deal for kane :D

I don't really see any benefits of selling him, unless he is going to be massively unhappy about being on the bench. We won't get much money for him and he's a good backup striker. Assuming we are going one up front next season, that one is guaranteed to be Rooney. So why go out and spend money on a back up striker when we have just that in Hernandez? And lets face it, who is there out there in terms of good, available forwards? Especially ones that are going to be playing second fiddle to Rooney?

The thing is that van Gaal isn't keen on a pure poacher like Hernandez, I'm sure he won't keep a player at the club as 2nd choice who he doesn't like. RvP has a better chance of staying as backup than him since a prime van Persie does fit van Gaal's striker profile. I'm sure that there is a striker out there who will be a better fit than Hernandez if RvP also leaves to be 2nd choice behind Rooney.

“Chicharito’s future? I’ve already sent him away once, when you score a goal, as he has just done for Real Madrid, are you suddenly different? I don’t think so.
I told him the same as I told Danny Welbeck, that he was again a substitute and I didn’t feel that was any good to him.” - van Gaal

I also very much doubt Hernandez wants to be 2nd choice.

I doubt he'll stay, for at least 18 months now he has complained about playing 2nd fiddle and wanting more game time. If he is happy to work his way into the team or be squad player at best then he should stay, otherwise he's best looking elsewhere.

He's averaged about 25 appearances for us over the years, just as he did with Madrid. Should be more than enough for a player of his calibre, and if he performs better than expected that number obviously go up.

You have to go back to the 2005/06 season to when Sergio Ranos scored less goals in a season than Falcao in 2014/15! Falcao at United must be considered meaningless.

He doesn't suit what LVG wants from a striker and that will always count against him, I think. When LVG says he'll be a sub I get the feeling he means a barely used sub.

I've seen him linked with a few Italian teams, that league might suit him well.

Then I guess we should sell all our strikers.

To be fair, he did have a very productive last month and a half of the season. He did end in a hot streak of scoring. We sure as hell could have used him this season over Falcao. We would have at least challenged for the title had he stayed. Then again hindsight is always 20/20. Who knew Falcao would have bombed with us at the beginning of the season

It depends on what kind of role he wants at this stage of his career and what clubs are actually interested in him. Would he prefer to play a bit-part role at a team that's challenging for honours and playing in the CL or does he need first team football and is willing to move to a lesser club to secure it? If he can fully get behind his role as a squad player for us then we should keep him.

Apprantly its been confirmed now.. So looks like he's going nowhere then, haha.

Chico's Fellaini moment? Would Felli have stayed last season but for injury?

It's going to cost us a lot of money because he has only a year left on his contract and would probably have been sold for 8-10 million

Yep, I can't see him being sold now until Jan at the earliest... if the other rumours of RVP being sold are also true then you'd imagine we'd want to get our skates on and get signing players..ASAP!

He will be free to sign pre contracts in January and will definitely not leave till the summer .

Depends who we get in, if we sign a forward this summer they may be rid of him sooner.

The way were dealing with transfers however we'll probably resign him to a new 5 year deal! :wenger:

Possibly - though he would probably pass a medical if he was healing well before the end of the august window?

the most probable outcome though is he stays till xmas and goes out on loan before leaving on a free... loosing us about £8m in transfer fee and probably costing us 2-3 million extra in wages.

Might poach about 10 goals coming of the bench next season. That's better than RVP or the Colombian.
He's always been a decent impact striker, might not be such a bad thing having him around next season.

For a footballer a broken collar bone is no great shakes. Like already mentioned, he could probably still pass a medical in August.
Hopefully. Can't be arsed with him whinging throughout next season when he isn't getting games.

Not sure how this is a bad thing? I'm sure there's interest in him in a lot of leagues. He's wanted in MLS and Mexico, and I'm sure there's plenty of european teams that would take him. Just don't pay him silly wages because then we might be stuck with him.

Curious what's going to happen. It really don't make any sense LVG not rating him. Clearly, if his attitude was right - he would be good for double figures and he's capable of scoring some winners.

He's an out and out poacher. I just don't think that fits into Van Gaals plans. He's got zero to his game in terms of hold up and link up play and he doesn't carry the ball well at all.
