This thread has been silent for a while but he's been mentioned again. Seamus is the the latest 'S' linked with us, joining Sergio, Schneiderlin and Schweinsteiger. In my opinion he's an exciting footballer with real pace and more importantly a team player. He's at a good age of 26 and is ready for the step up imo(no offence Evertonians but yus are going to win feck all in the next few years). I think he's maybe a more Ferguson type right back but is definitely good enough. I might be biased being from Donegal in Ireland but it's a possibility. I spoke to neighbour of his during the week. He told me that Seamus is a United fan but more interestingly, that if an offer comes in from United he will push for the move(Seamus told him apparently)? I'm not making it up either, I'm genuinely exciting and drawn to the idea that a local Killybegs lad that supports United could play at Old Trafford someday. I'm sure the link is bs in the media tonight but if our interest is real, there is a great chance:)

Wouldn't be a bad shout. In all honesty I've not seen him play that often - the odd MOTD highlight. From what i've gathered he's not been as good this season as he was before? Is he really a £25mill signing?

Colemania!

Probably just the English papers linking us with the only other RB they know.

Only if we thought we were going to get the form he displayed in the season before last. Otherwise Clyne for half the price would have been a better deal.

If he does hit that form again then he'd be well worth the money. A proper gung-ho attacking right back, sort of player you could imagine SAF loving.

That would probably increase the price:wenger:

Instead, we could include Hernandez maybe? He probably won't want to go there though. We could also send Adnan on loan?

 I seem to recall Everton were interested in Evans, but Adnan on loan might be an option as well, although they just bought Delefeou so I'm not sure.

Well if they are interested in Evans, then we could do that deal indeed.

Yup I did think of Delofeou while I was typing that. No Europe for them either, right? Then it doesn't make sense

He's a better signing at 25m than clyne would be i reckon. Him, Darmian and carvahal are the only right backs i would want to spunk a fair chunk on as they would be significant upgrades.

We're going to have the most expensive fullbacks in the world

Still, would be pretty happy with Coleman.

That Darmian guy looks good too, though I've only really seen him play for Italy.

I can't see any way we don't overpay for whichever right back we go for though, Clyne was our cheap option.

Would rather spend 25m on making Old Trafford Fellaini themed than give it to Everton for Seamus Coleman.

Couldn't agree more. But remember we spent 27m on our left back so I guess 25m on a RB wouldn't be entirely unreasonable...

But 25m for a RB... come on...

Why do you say that? Coleman is a very good RB, I agree, but what makes him at least 13 m more expensive than Clyne?

Shaw was 18 when we signed him, Coleman will be turning 27 in a few months time - That's a big difference. Shaw will also eventually be counted as a Home Grown United player by Premier League Squad rules given how young he was when we signed him, that's worth quite a bit.

Honestly don't think £25m would be enough to sign Coleman unless he kicks up a fuss and is desperate to leave, Everton will more likely want around £30m and given he has 4 years left on his contract, it's all a non-starter.

How about sending Fellaini back in a swap for Coleman. Everton valued him at £25m when they sold him to us and on the back of a very good last season he must still be worth that. Fellaini can have a future here still but with Schniederlin coming in and perhaps another in midfield too then it looks like his chances of nailing down a place are severely restricted.

25 million? 55 million on two fullbacks would be a bit of a joke. Unless he is going to be one of the world's best doesn't make sense,

If United are going to spend money on a right back he better be a lot better than the home grown player they already have.

ie that means he can play 2 games in a row without getting injured?

Let's spend wisely though... 15-20m is the most I would pay for a top class full back.

Torino have slapped a price tag of 25 million Euros for Matteo Darmian. He's the only realistic target with world class potential that we can acquire. Coleman might not be worth the price Everton want for him.

Seems like people haven't caught up with the inflationary rate of the market. 25m is the new 15m so it wouldn't be a bad price for Coleman. Besides, not my money.
Inflation is why Coleman shouldn't be a target. Buying a full back that's more expensive than Depay is silly. Scout better. He's not an overly special player. Other leagues have similar players that are less expensive to get and to maintain.

Agree with this but will add if it was up to me Coleman would have been the number one target anyway but I would have hoped it wouldn't quite so expensive. He is a good option in not a very large pool of players.

He's alright, I'd rather have him at RB than Valencia and we don't seem to be short of cash so why not.

He's certainly not twice as good as Clyne and a few years older but he's a lot better than what we've got now.

No thanks. He's almost 27 and has done next to nothing in his career bar a couple of decent seasons. Would much rather go for Fabinho as he's still young and he wouldn't cost as much as Coleman probably.

Coleman is a good attacking full back but I think his defensive lapses would be highlighted a lot more at United. He is physically quite weak. Better defensively than Valencia but not as good as Rafael.

I get the impression that the Coleman/Clyne links are fabricated stories based on United needing a right back rather than any insider knowledge.

There's no love lost between Woody and Everton. I just cannot see Woody ever over paying for any of their players again. If United go for him it will be low ball offers and unsettling the player to force the move.

He's better than rafael defensively, probably going forward too (this place has always over exaggerated his ability going forward mainly because it's all he has).

Better than Valencia at rb in every way.

Not best around but solid. Sod it, that's all we need at the moment, just someone solid ego cab do the job. We haven't had a right back that could do that consistently since nevile

Correct. We'd have a fair idea with what we'd be getting with Coleman too which means a lot these days. No waiting around for so called potential to blossom or injury recoveries every 2nd week. He'd slot in straight away and improve things in both defence and attack on the right side.
