What six he say about signing a striker? Asking cuz there is nothing about it in your summary. Thanks for the summary by the way
He was asked how far along were in signing that surprise signing that he had mentioned last week.

He was trying to be cryptic, revealed it was a striker and just said that signing the surprise signing was well along "in the process" and that basically it's not a player who the press have linked us to.

I find the last part hard believe as we have been linked to everyone, more likely a player who hasn't been mentioned too often.

You're right.. My bad, just heard a clip from the press conference again. I guess he means Muller.

Pedro could be the player he's talking about. He'd consider him s forward though, and the english media hasn't really taken links to him too seriously either.

3 interesting points from the presser:
1.) He seems very confident about signing the striker, and looks like it's a player no one in the media has seriously linked us with yet.

2.) Hernandez looks set to be our #2 striker for the season. Maybe #3, depending on who the surprise signing is.

3.) Valencia is 1st choice RB
I got to admit tough it surprises me as well how he said it, and how open he is about it. You wouldn't do that if it had a big chance to fail.

But then again high profile targets seemed unavailable so far for the striker position.

- Benzema (RM doesn't want to sell)
- Kane (Spurs doesn't want to sell
- Lewandowski (Rummy publicly stated that nobody else would be sold to Man United)
- Lacazette (Just said yesterday he would stay)

Tbh even getting Ronaldo seems more realistic than the 4 above.

I think when he says striker it could also mean a forward, who can play off the striker and my money's on Pedro

Pedro makes sense.

Heres the thing: LVG won't buy a high profile striker. Simply for this reason: where the hell would Rooney play. With Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger, Carrick, Mata, Herrera, Januzaj, theres no way he can fit in there every match.

or we go 442, but then i personally come to England to give him a dutch ass whooping while screaming 433.

So nobody mentioned or noticed LVG has long term plans for Chicharito?
I did, in the summary. Seemed liked Hernandez will either be the #2 or #3 striker for the season depending on who our other signings are

No, he was asked if he had any long term plans for hernandez, to which he answered 'no', he has long term 'expectations'.

I'm sure he expects him to be sold if we get another striker in

I think the same thing. The thing is, nobody on the Caf is considering the idea that Pedro could be a good back-up striker for Rooney. Everybody's talking as if he would be Di Maria's replacement.

Maybe he's both. Killing two birds with one stone. A wide man who could play as a striker if needed.

With LVGs statement it seems we are looking at a different striker, with pedro being Di Maria's wide replacement. I would hope that's the case as we need a specialist striker IMO.

Then where does that leave Rooney? Impacting on the midfield yet again. I would rather get a striker who is willing to learn his trade here, but is better than Wilson, or someone older who is quite happy to wait his turn but is still capable of making an impact. Can't think of anyone mind you, so not being very helpful.

Rooney needs strong competition, we can't rely on him if he has 1 of his slumps, and I don't think Wilson ready. If he knows he's got a strong player waiting for his position it'll keep him in top form hopefully.

Wayne is a funny one, as you say he goes on these scoring runs, then either gets injured or suspended, then it is almost like pre-season again and it takes him ages to get up and running. That is the only reason I have never thought of him as world class. SAF used to baffle me sometimes, he would admit that Wayne had to play to keep scoring runs going, then promptly rest him and then wonder why he stopped scoring.

Yeah it's catch 22, how long do you persist with a player playing poorly?. Any minute he could break his duck and then go on a good run, but it might not happen and then you risk dropping points. Unfortunately we need consistency and if he doesn't bring that this season we could be in trouble.

Is Keegan being serious with these tweets?

It was on MUTV last week?! Lou Macari bought a one direction t shirt. It's not a hidden fact that he's revealed through some sort of source . I think he may be joking but I really wouldn't put it past him.

Sorry haven't got means to watch the clips, does it definitely sound like we're signing someone or could it be interpreted in say, Memphis playing as a striker? Or someone else like Fellaini being a suprise striker, just you never know with his English. A new player?

Since when have Spurs ever wanted to sell a player we've bid for?

Surely not on Valencia! Why would we buy a reserve right back?!

Nah he definitely confirmed we are signing a striker,or at least are in the "process" of such. Weather it's a conventional striker like a benzema or a wide fwd like Pedro remains to be seen.

Then the only "surprise" ones I can think of would be Higuain, Lacazette or Berahino. Would actually be pretty happy with Berahino.

1) we have been linked with him before, our relationship with madrid has gone sour and I think we are more concerned with getting ramos than Benz

2) We have been linked with him as well, and i think he already said he will stay in lyon unless he does a delph

3) i hope not :nervous:

I think the next game will indicate who LVG currently sees as the starters (with a few exceptions). I'm assuming di Maria will be sold (or will be in the process of being sold) and that we won't make any signings in that time.

Early Predicted Line-up (60 mins):

de Gea

Valencia Jones Rojo Shaw

Mata Carrick Herrera Memphis

Rooney Pereira
30 mins Team:

Johnstone

Darmian Smalling McNair Blind

Lingard Schneiderlin Schweinsteiger Young

Hernandez Januzaj
