Yep, I remember that he was really upset that he had to come here as he never wanted to leave RM.
No, he wanted to leave Madrid to double his wages, but he wanted to go to PSG. Only reason PSG could not sign him was because of the FFP restriction they had at the time.

French giants to pay £46m for star who posed for a photo with their owner when he didn't have permission to be in Qatar
Furious Louis van Gaal forced Paris Saint-Germain to pay an extra £3million for Angel di Maria after the player posted a picture of himself with the French club's owner in Qatar.

Manchester United winger Di Maria finally had a medical in the Qatari capital Doha on Tuesday, but Old Trafford officials had earlier pulled the plug until they were able to thrash out new terms.

Van Gaal demanded £46m after the French club originally believed a deal had been done at £43m.

Di Maria had been given permission by United to talk to French champions PSG — but not to fly out to Qatar.
for real?!

We don't know what LVG said to him. LVG could have told him to feck off like he did to Riquelme and not given him a second chance?

It's hardly far superior.
They are currently the 4th best team in Europe, they have a better squad than Chelsea and this is without Di Maria, Di Maria adds another World Class player to their team and we don't even measure up to Chelsea at the moment.

Very happy with that price. Hopefully we'll get moving with signing his replacement now that he's gone - Griezmann would be great, but it sounds like we'll be getting Pedro instead.

Di Maria told BeIN Sports: ‘I am very happy to join PSG. What I know about PSG is that it is a team that won all the possible trophies in France last season.

‘This is very important for the club. I also know that I want to overcome the obstacle that is the quarter finals of the Champions League. I am going to try to bring the best of my abilities to put myself at the service of this team.

‘We are going to try and go as far as possible in the Champions League.’

You mean that 'world class' player who flopped here? He couldn't hack it here and even though the French league is weaker he might not be much cop there either. It's really weird you basing part of your argument on a player we have just willingly sold.

I have been very diplomatic towards Di Maria over the last few months but he is one major cnut. The way him and Mendes have dealt with this is atrocious and very unprofessional.

I won't call him shit or hope he breaks a leg but I do hope we pull ourselves together as a club so he will realise what he has missed out on. The potential attacking line up we have next season is very frightening and I wouldn't be surprised if we go further in the cl than psg.
Anyway, regardless of how well he does at psg I think our replacement Pedro? will certainly do better than he did. That is what a few United fans are overlooking. Imagine another horrendous season of an under performing club record signing.

Haha I love love love this thread, I love how the narrative always changes.

Like if he had decided to stay we would still have sold him,he will succeed in France there is no doubt about that, might even have succeeded here in his second season, but I can understand the nature of your post given the circumstances and the puerile form this whole thread has taken.

Lol di Maria. Never to be properly respected again, surely even by non United fans. Nice tag to have on a career.

Is that the official club statement?
I suspect they'll be a little more restrained than that. To be honest, I'm not too fussed about us losing him but it does make United look a bit silly. Not the first time that's happened but it could have been handled better.

After that, I will try to do things the best I can and will try to work hard and give it all I can like I have done in other clubs.
This.
I don't hate him for leaving, I hate him for saying that and then going back on his word. Footballers today don't have any integrity. Meh, not a big loss all things considered. No world class player looks for a way out after only one season at a club. After the performances he gave at the tail end of last season, I'm surprised we're getting 46 million for him.

Nope. The press even reported how you guys would get 5 mil if he wins the Balon D'or, so I am sure this would have been reported as well then if it was true.

I never liked him last season, to me it was obvious he didn't care and his attitude on the pitch was disgraceful. He was rumoured to want to go to PSG last summer so in hindsight it could be that he never really wanted to be here. Apart from collecting his massive paycheque of course. I'm surprised so many fans still thought it was first season blues and he'd come good next year. I'm glad we're shot of him and can give his squad place to someone who respects the shirt.
